(Hedo's about face aside)...Do you think they would be better off with Hedo....as opposed to Andre?

BTW, is Hedo actually earning his big bucks up north?

No. It would be worse. There wasn't enough room for Hedo and Rudy, Martell, Travis and Nic.

Nope- Andre's not really getting a shot to show his stuff yet and Hedo looks so so in the few games thus far.

Our main problem has been defense. Wings have been killing Portland so far.

Having said that, Hedo would not have helped in that area. In fact, he'd make it worse.

No, because if we had Hedo we'd have Bayless at the point on the 2nd unit...

Depends on which looks better in High Def.

miller hasn't done anything bayless can't to this point

I was hoping someone would bring some comedic relief to this thread. Bayless is 1/100th the PG Miller is. I can see you're taking advantage of the new medical mary-jane in Oregon.

I find it hard to believe that Bayless wouldn't be able to replicate Andre's current play.

I'm not saying Miller has looked good, I just think over the season he will show he's a lot better out there than Bayless.

you haven't watched any games yet this year apparently. miller hasn't done anything in the first 4 games that bayless isn't capable of, particularly on D. if he's 100x better he's either dogging it in a major way, or nate is a terrible coach.

Steve Blake is averaging more assists than Andre Miller at this point. I realize it's a small sample, but damn, $7 million is $7 million, isn't it? Plus, Bayless could probably at least try and defend the opposing PG instead of letting a wing try and do it.

I don't see how we can criticize a guy who is coming off the bench (not his fault) and isn't closing games like we thought he would (possibly his fault). It's not like he was given the starting spot that he was paid to take, and has been playing below expectations. He's a $7 million fucking backup because Nate says so.

Miller's been pretty good his whole career :dunno:

He's being used wrong. Nate shouldn't have wasted Miller's time in bringing him here.

he's never been a great defender, and obviously has always had terrible range. but yeah he HAS been great in the past running the break and offense, which apparent isn't part of nate's plan for using him.

What would Hedo be doing besides replicating what Roy does from the wing? He's not a great defender, he hasn't been especially efficient lately and although he's OK at hitting from distance (or used to be anyway) I sort of doubt he'd be the kind of impact player we'd hope for, especially for the amount of money he's raking in.

He'd shoot 3's like Rudy does. Pretty simple. Can never have enough shooters on a Nate McMillan team.

I think Yes. PG, as much as it's a concern, having a nice SF/PF combo in Hedo would be perfect right now. You could bring Hedo in to start at SF, then move to PF to replace Aldridge. I know it's "small ball" but having a player like Hedo that is known for sticking a dagger in you from three, will keep the defenders more honest on our post scorers.

I don't think Hedo would have helped us. We needed a PG upgrade and got one. The sad part is, Miller's defense is really bad. Defense is what we need and Bayless would be better at it. Bayless is also a better shooter. What Miller is good at, pushing the ball, catching the defense off-guard, and rewarding players for getting behind their defenders, Nate apparently doesn't want him to do. What a waste.

Hedo is a bigger mismatch for most SF defenders than Miller is for most point-guards. Miller is a better player, individually than Hedo - but because it is so unusual to have such a tall guy that can handle, attack the rim from the dribble, run the pick and roll and shoot from the 3 - he is just a bigger thing to adjust to for opposing defenses.

I still think that we were lucky, long-term, that Toronto picked him up - because 3 years from now we would be hurting with him on the team - but, I still think that for the next couple of years - he would have been a better fit on this team.

The fact of the matter is that Miller, so far, has not done too much to help us get the ball in the post - while Hedo was very successful doing it from the side of the court at Orlando - something we have not seen the Blazers do, at all.

I am not surprised the Blazers went after him first, but I am not ready to wash my hands off the Miller experiment. I still think that sooner or later they will figure it out and the team will start clicking.
