Now that we got a glimpse of McCollum

McCollum is nothing like Roy. I swear theres a group of Blazer fans that compare every player of ours to random former Blazers. Wasn't Damian just compared to Roy? Robin is Pryz?

Gollum McCollum has a lot of skills and I'm excited to see him with more time on the court. With him and Mo playing very well I'd like to see the starters get more rest so they don't have the fatigue issues that hurt us in OKC and GS.

I'm not nearly as high on him now as I was before the season started and not having seen him play a single regular season game.

He needs to start hitting his jumper.

He's well-rounded in that he doesn't really do anything well at the NBA level at this point. I do like his poise and demeanor, though. He needs to be able to at least try and defend a bit, though.

CJ has a PER of 8.9 with a USG of 18. He's not a good NBA player right now. I'm guessing as he plays himself into shape, he won't be such a liability on the court.

However, in the limited minutes he's played I think he has a better game than Dame. He can play both inside and outside the 3-point line, and dribbles the ball better.

I feel the need to point this post out again.

I feel like I heard this somewhere and I completely agreed with it: CJ has a silent swagger to his game. Watching him warm-up, he's always loose, has a veteran's demeanor, and this stage doesn't seem too bright for him. It's early, but we might have picked a Top 3 player from this draft class at No. 10.

CJ very well could end up as a more versatile scorer but I doubt he will be better overall
I agree. Plus he's cool under fire, and doesn't press and play too fast (ahummoahum). I'm loving his mid-range game, his handle, his shot, and his controlled moves. Until last night, he was also shooting well from three. He's a good fit.

I think he can be a starting SG for the Blazers. Once get gets more comfortable I think he'll be a good high volume shooter, perhaps a Steve Smith type of player.

Didn't you say this about EWill when he was with the Blazers?

I love advanced data based on very small sample size!

Which data points are we allowed to use?

41% FG?
33% 3pt for a "shooter?"
6 assists in 11 games?

I hope CJ turns it around, but he's been a liability off of the bench on both ends of the court. Posters praising him are obviously doing so based on his potential, because on the court, he's been a dud so far. I like his potential, too, but the glimpse we've seen of him thus far has been "below average bench player." I haven't seen anything that shows me he'll be a more versatile scorer than Lillard on the court. Maybe in potential? Let's have him score double figures at least more than one time before we crown him.

I feel the need to bump this thread. CJ is clearly the worst rotation player at this point, and his on/off stats are horrible. Is it time to put Wright back in the rotation, and let McCollum get his legs back?

When the team gets back to building a blowout lead in the 3rd qtr again the bench will get more burn, which they need. CJ is a project...I'm not ready to crown him the next anything until he wins a game for us or even gets a double double..he hasn't done much, actually hasn't done as much as Luke Babbit did last season or even Ronnie Price. He sure got a lot of hype though and I like his potential (yeah, I'm using that word)

McCollum is by far the worst rotation player at this point. Hopefully it's just rust from his layoff, but he's as big a liability as Leonard on the court right now.

He really needs a breakout game, and soon.

I agree he's a liability on defense but he already has a much better offensive game. he does have a few years on meyers though

I'm optimistic about CJ and feel he'll round into an NBA player with time, I just sense he's getting more hype than he's earned so far. Leonard is a good offensive player, Barton is a good offensive player. They are also, projects.

i feel like if barton was let loose he could be like a mini Crash. He just has so much energy. I think a stint in Idaho would be really good for him

I think a stint in Idaho would be good for McCollum, and let Barton have those minutes for a few weeks. Get CJ some heavy minutes so he can find a groove.

I feel like all of Crabbe, Barton and CJ have a future in this league but none of them are ready for the roles we need right now. They could all use some seasoning

I have a feeling in a couple years were going to have a big dilemma over who we should start at the 2:

McCollum or Crabbe.

I feel like McCollums ceiling on this team is as a 6th man. As long as we have Lillard the defensive issues starting both McCollum and Lillard would be too much

I think Stotts has seen enough of him to consider Wright again.

CJ hit 1 shot in 14 minutes and had 4 points. He's pressing, it's obvious.

No one from our 3rd team and half of our 2nd team (Leonard, Claver, Crabbe, Barton, Watson, Wright, Robinson) gets into the game, because it's close right till the game end, because the Stotts system emphasizes offense over defense. We have a lot of silent unhappy customers sitting behind the bench.

Barton may deserve McCollum's minutes soon enough. CJ is close to be the worst rotation player on an elite team right.

You're preaching to the choir. A month ago when a bunch of Mohaters said McCollum would take the jobs of Mo and Wes this season, and start, I kept posting whoa. Who was the main guy disagreeing with me?

He definitely looks like a rookie.
