Some package of Favors, picks, and an expiring. I don't think Murphy can be traded until at least a few weeks from now. Harris might be involved in the trade.

I wouldn't know why Melo would want to leave the Nuggets to join the Nets, especially if Harris is involved. A line up of:

PG: Farmar
SG: Morrow
SF: Melo
PF: Murphy?
C: Lopez

Is so much more inferior to what the Nuggets have right now. Every other rumored team including the Rockets, Kings, Knicks, and Bulls will have a much better chance of competing than the Nets. Don't know why he would be interested in signing an extension with a 12-70 Nets team. Unless Jay-Z is his man, of course.

Several league sources on Monday told ESPN.com that they believe the Nets have emerged as the front-runner to acquire Carmelo Anthony.

Not only is Anthony willing to sign a contract extension with the Nets, sources say the club is willing to make an intriguing offer of Derrick Favors (the No. 3 pick in this year's draft), the expiring contracts of Troy Murphy and Kris Humphries, and at least one future first-round pick to Denver to land Anthony.

It would be awesome if the Nets kept Harris. Trading Murphy makes the Nets really thin at PF.

An NBA executive told Chris Broussard that Carmelo Anthony would not sign a contract extension with the New Jersey Nets.

The Nets are thought to be Denver's ideal trading partner but Anthony would first need to make a long-term commitment to New Jersey before the Nets trade significant assets to the Nuggets.

I think Melo might want to re-think that stance if the article is indeed true. I don't know why it would be true though, because how would some random NBA exec know whether Melo would sign an extension
