David Roshan has been my guest all week as we’ve looked at the NBA over/unders for all 30 NBA teams and talked about how each team matches up with the Denver Nuggets. In today’s episode, we wrap up the conversation by talking about the Trail Blazers, Jazz, and Spurs. We also spend a large portion of the show talking about some of the keys to making this upcoming season a successful one.

synopsis for those unable to listen to audio at work?

They both think the 47 over/under is about right. One of them slightly over, one of them slightly under. They both think we've made improvements, but think we still need a guy like Kevin Love to get us to the promised land. They somehow think Nurk for Love trade would work. They both really like Collins and think he can step into Nurk's role (if traded). They're both pretty meh on Whiteside. Like Gasol for vet leadership. Think we have a much better offensive team sans Harkless and Aminu (although, now question our defensive abilities.) They think Bazemore is a starter and good for the team. They thought Denver was better than Portland last year...and think they're a lot better than the Blazers this season..and will beat Portland 3 of 4 regular season game.

It's Denver though, I think they're still a bit jaded about Nurk.

They both thought he had an attitude problem (and compared it to Whiteside in Miami), but really liked his play and said he really seems to have curbed his sourness since settling in p-town.

(I wish they would've mentioned how Olshey fleeced them getting a 1st Rounder. Hey, didn't that turn into Collins?!)

They had some decent points about Denver. They will be deep.

Their comment about SA can be said about almost every team in the west.

"I can't see SA winning less games other than the West just getting tougher"

This is the issue. Lot of good teams in the west.

My entire life, the west has been a bloodbath and the east has been a shit show (except for the Bulls).

At some point you would think maybe that would change, but it sure doesn't seem like it ever will.

Of course the greats want to come this way.

I will say though there was a point in the 80's where it was the Lakers and then the East, no? I think the 80's were a bit flipped.

I know I can't be the only Blazer fan that thinks the Love-to-Portland trade ideas have reached a toxic level of 'shut-the-fuck-up-about-it-already'. Every day, somebody is talking about it while saying that would put Portland over the top. yuck to the 7th power

by the way ABM, do you have some kind of bot that searches the net for Blazer related content? It amazes me how much you find...good job

Wouldn't you think that owners of teams in the (L)east would start raiding proven GM talent in the West?

Maybe, but a GM cant do much if players dont want to play on the teams they represent.

Then it’s ownership’s and the GM’s job to make the culture and facilities so good that players enjoy it, and then go after the kinds of players that fit with the City and team. Olshey has done a great job of doing that in Portland, which isn’t exactly a free agent magnet.

Sure. I still think the masses prefer the newer cleaner west than the old and stained east though. You can have the cleanest fanciest stadium and practice facility in the league, but if you aren't keen on old brick buildings, etc, then it may not be the place for you and I think the masses prefer newer styles and looks. Ala all the glass in the west. The weather is much milder here as well. Having lived in NY, its basically two seasons. Hot as hell summer and frozen winter. No GM or owner can change these things.

I don't believe this will be the year of the 8th or 9th seeded team being around 50 wins like we've seen in the past. Gonna be a tough season for everybody.

8th seed will be around 45

Remember this when SOME of you are on the ledge after losing 3 of 4......alot of teams are going to lose 3 of 4 at some point.

We have already had that some point.

I think the Nuggets will be better than the Blazers this year, but trying to argue that Denver was better last year?

Gosh, if only the teams had actually played each other, we could stop speculating on which team was better and we could let the results of the actual basketball games be the determining factor.....

They wish.
