I don't think Nurk has to go at all but I think he'll want to go. Only players who want to be here should be here.

I wanna keep Ant as our 6th man. He is a sharpshooter, still young, learned from one of the best.

When you teach your son, you teach your son's son.

Nurk is a movement player, European.

He never liked guys standing around passing the ball then jacking up a 3-pointer.

Remember the 4-game win streak? That's how Nurk wants to play.

He may not be able to catch lobs, but he'll be happy throwing them. And grabbing rebounds and throwing the ball down court. And passing to cutters.

The backcourt of Dame and Ant gave us a distorted view of both Grant and Nurk.

Blazers need to spend 122.4 million just to reach the minimum salary floor. Whether it's Nurkic, Grant or hiring players on the IR, old guy buyouts, the Blazers need to spend a required amount of money to be an NBA team.

Something similar to what Utah just did. They absorbed John Collins for a song.
John Collins has regressed mightily though. I don't think he's someone who helps teams win.

What? I would make Scoot earn his starting spot. Scoot shouldn’t just be handed the team. If Scoot is good enough to beat out someone who has had 5 years of experience, we got a real winner.

No matter how good a rookie is, asking that of him is pretty lofty of an expectation. Simons had 11 games starting without Dame where he averaged something like 28/3/6 on .46/.41/.94–we need him to do this for an extended period to get any value out of him.

Right now, I’m thinking…

Ant (18)/Scoot (30)/Mays
Sharpe (32)/Ant (16)/Thybulle

Then, by the deadline, we might be able to actually talking about getting a very decent deal for Ant. Scoot is a rookie, he has 3 more seasons to start during his rookie deal.

No reason to get rid of Nurk for the sake of doing it. That means no trading away anything of value to trade him.

At the least, he’s a good screen setter who will help Scoot and Sharpe with getting good PnR opportunities. With no pressure to win, he might get opportunities to eventually be a pretty reliable shooter. By then, maybe his contract is easier to trade.

Those are guards…

Makes sense to send Nurk out in a Heat trade, they just don't have many assets and I agree Nurk is worth less than nothing on that contact.

I wouldn't say Nurk has to go though. If the Nets offer more draft picks we can keep Nurks overpaid deal. Especially if we only take on expirings or even Ben Simmons 2 year deal.

Clear salary for what though?
This is a good question that the Blazers should've asked when doing that stupid Clippers trade.

I'd say if Blazers get salary space soon they should use it to take on bad contacts and get picks or something. Or sign vets to max 1 year contracts and flip at the deadline. Target a vet that's a rotational player but would be overpaid on a max, overpaying for one year is fine.

Once Scoot Sharpe etc team compete for payoff spots we should transition to acquiring players to win. Pacers acquiring Bruce Brown is an example.

I don't see any rush to trade him. With his contract he has almost no value in the league. Let him play a couple years here and as the cap goes up and he's owed less he'll become more and more attractive as a bench big man.

If it means more losses, we'll, we're in the losing business now. Buckle up. It's all about getting more picks.

I agree with taking on bad salary for picks, but that's why the Grant signing doesn't make sense with this route.

If we can't move him for assets, it's only going to make our pick worse next year and make it harder to make moves that rebuilding teams should focus on.

I would be a bit shocked if Nurk was on this team to start the year

I would shocked if Grant is on this team after the deadline

I would be slightly shocked if Ant isn’t moved for a forward

I would be shocked if Chauncey is our coach after this season

Though im not sure Nurk is a good fit moving forward in the long run, we cant go without a solid replacement. Win or lose scoot and shae need a big like him for pnr improvement.
Not sure we need to move him with Dame. Especially if next year is another tank year.

so many shocks is not good for your health

you might want to skip watching next season

Haven’t been this excited for a season in a long time. For the first time, in a long time, I have no idea what this team will look like, or how they will play, or what the GM will do without having to answer to Dame

or who'll be the GM!

Nurk has made it clear on numerous occasions he wants out if Dame leaves. With his recent play, he's become a negative asset, so he has to go in a Dame trade.

Excited about summer league.

As long as we’re talking about changes, can we also get a real coach who can teach our young players the game?
