Was just listening to the weekly podcast from Eric Gunderson with Quick and he mentioned he spoke with Nurk after the OKC game ( when Dame/CJ/Nurk scored everything) and Nurk said that they really needed to involve the rest of the team more, especially ET on his post ups and Moe on cuts. Not specifically related to that game but in general.

Quick said he also followed up with the guards about these comments and CJ's response was incredulous, "well what do you expect us to do about it?" Dame apparently agreed with Nurk and said he's trying to be more cognizant of especially getting ET on the ball more and giving Moe the ball on cuts more.

Quick said it's something to keep track of and could just be off the cuff comments from Nurk, but we can always dig deep.

The only thing I'll say in CJ's defense is that Quick seems to have some sort of axe to grind with him between the flagrant foul in the playoffs and the questions for Stotts the other day.

Ya if this is even remotely legit, I hate that attitude. Maybe he thinks it's out of his control, but still, as a leader I want a better response.

My more key takeaway is that Nurk is getting more involved in the direction of the team and that seems to be a good sign.

Good. Nurk is the most selfless player on the team. The only time you’ll really see him smile on the court is when he’s making plays for others. He genuinely enjoys it, and doesn’t do it just to pad his stats. I remember a comment CJ made in preseason about how he needs to average one or two more assists to be considered for the all star game. It rubbed me the wrong way. He may be a really cool guy off the court, a good teammate, etc etc, but his whole vibe on the court is me me me me.

Nurk is really becoming a foundational building block. After his stagnation last season, this is awesome.

Don't really wanna bash CJ in another thread, that too, without any context from Quick.

That's just it as there is definitely a fued that's been going on and Quick tends to use his position to fire up that fued and I can see McCollum being a bit flippant with Quick. I can see myself being similar towards a person that has dogged me on occasion and said similar things to what he has said about McCollum. I don't think many players care for Quick as he seems more outsider than an insider and often likes to make himself part of the story. It would be nice to hear an actual response by McCollum and Lillard, but they will likely just move on and worry about the team rather than concern them self with Quick.

I think he has improved some in passing, and getting the ball to others. When he feels it though give him the green light just like anyone else on the team.

Quick evidently apologized to him this off-season so at this point that would say more about CJ than Jason.
That CJ's petty and holds grudges? Sure, maybe it does.

Doesn't change the fact that I'd have a hard time agreeing with anybody trying to use this quote that comes without context as some look into CJ's true feelings on the subject.

I take McCollums answer as him basically not giving Quick the time of day and not a real answer to as how he really feels. CJ is a very smart guy, but athletes get tired of reporters like Quick and respond accordingly. If Quick had more respect from CJ then I am sure he would have given a real answer as he has done many times when he has been interviewed. I would also like to hear the recording and get the context of the discussion or at least an explanation from McCollum before jumping all over him like some on here are doing.

Going to take more than an apology to rebuild the relationship when you call out CJ for being dirty and not having heart a few times. Still, CJ is damn media savvy you'd think he'd know when to not snap.

Even if off the cuff, its good head-space for Nurk to be in.

yeah, could be

I've been against the Dame/CJ back court from the beginning and have always felt CJ was significantly overrated. But Quick is prone to sensationalism and often seems to leave out context

I guess I can see CJ saying something like that but I'd really like to see the entire exchange. That said, if CJ did say that it's really a black mark against him and really dovetails into the MeJ narrative.

Nurk (and Dame) get what basketball is about. The pseudo intellectual can go fuck himself.

No, I don't. Like I said, if someone did to me what Quick has done to CJ (try to publicly humiliate him) he would have likely got more than what CJ gave him.
Ok. Now watch C.J. play...

His play says it all though.

And you think he plays unselfishly? For the betterment of the team? ...
This is probably putting words in his mouth and I shouldn't do that but my take is that Cup and a few others come across as “defensive” when criticisms of the Blazers come up, not because they truly believe everythings fine they’re going to win a championship, but because they’re tired of hearing the criticisms and think the people being critical come off as know it alls who act like they could do it better.

Thats my take at least, most of the more defensive posters (in terms of defending the Blazers), dont usually make the claim that everything is fine. They just come across as ok this is where things are and complaining wont make it better so I’ll enjoy what we have. Then when some of us other posters come along and criticize things about the team, NO, CJ , Stotts or whatever they are defensive about it because they just want to enjoy the season for what it is...

Anyways thats my take. I dont think Cup or anyone else here believes CJ is MJ, or Stotts is Pops, they just dont want to read all the criticisms towards a team they have an emotional attachment too.

Well I definitely don't think he plays selfishly. He's the teams 2nd best offensive player and the starting shooting guard. Is he not supposed to shoot? He has a higher percentage from the field than Damian, actually up from last year. And his shot attempts are down from last year. I don't know why a certain percentage of you have chosen to pick on him this year but it's not warranted.

Dame is much more efficient and makes the right play the majority of the time. CJ constantly misses open teammates to shoot contested shots, and it's gotten worse. The only time he talked about wanting to improve it, it was in the context of him making the all-star game.
