Depends on your credit limit. And then you have to deal with paying off your balance before you get hit with their usurious interest rates. Seems like a hassle to deal with when you're on the road half the time. Much easier to just walk into a dealership, pay with a check and drive your new ride home. You leave the dealership and your done.

I paid for my last two vehicles with a personal check on the spot. Got a better deal too, since the dealership didn't have to pay the credit card company's processing fee (usually in the 2 - 3% range).
