Too bad we won't be able to resign Nurk because of Leonard/Crabbe/Turner.

Why? We can easily get rid of these contracts by 2018. We will have three rookies here next year if all goes fine, making low salary.

If you could only keep 7 guys during an expansion draft, who would you keep? I got Dame, CJ, Nurkic, Harkless, Aminu, Turner, and Crabbe.
I'd protect Vonleh and Layman. An expansion team wouldn't select an expensive player like Crabbe or Turner.

Expansion team would have all cap space available to them and very few expensive players to choose from (well they'd have the likes of Biyombo etc. as their teams would be begging for them to take them).

Just basing my comment on historical results. Generally expansion teams keep salary low through the expansion draft, preserving that money for future trades and free agency.

Dame, CJ, Nurk, Harkless, Vonleh. One of Turner or Crabbe............

Meyers PER has went from 7.9 to 8.3 with Nurk. Leader who makes his teammates better
That's the number one thing I thought about after the game. Nurkic will make Harkless better by attracting defensive attention and passing to Hark when he cuts or gets open in the corner; Nurk will make Vonleh better by again, drawing attention, passing, boxing out, and maybe it seems by example and tutelage; Nurk will make our guards better by...obvious reasons. With all the debate about our guards perhaps not making teammates better, having Nurkic in the middle will make life easier for the other players, and create a synergistic improvement of the team.
Good-bye lottery.

I want to salute the posters who were on the Nurkic bandwagon ALL SEASON.

You guys rock. Take a bow.

I finally got one right! was hoping we traded for him for quite a while, got him way cheaper than I thought we could even with trading Plums, probably the bright spot of a very disappointing season

I have been down on Vonleh past several weeks, I really wold like to be proven wrong about him and see him blossom with Nurk, we see.

Hello mudda, hello fadda, we will now be playoff fodder.

We really need to, improve the rosta. Need a forward, like rosta monster.

Guys who defend, rebound even guard. Instead all that we have, are guys like Meyers Leonard

Swept at home, we're playoff fodder
Swept at home, not in the lotto
Don't want to be in the playoffs where
We'll show we do not belong there

Swept at home by Golden State
We won't make noise. Why can't we tank?
We have a choice
This winning is so lame.
We've picked up one whole game.

More like Yuck-kic, am I right?

Trading Plumlee signals the year is indeed lost. Our one good big. I loved Plumlee.

At this point in Dame's career I'm getting really sick of that word.

I like Plumlee. Nurkic's defensive ratings look atrocious, but I realize it could be a small sample size.

Not bad getting another 1st round pick though, which I kind of think might be the bigger part of the trade. I hope I'm wrong and Nurkic ends up being solid.

Neil was going to lose Plumlee and get nothing in return this summer, so this was the best possible outcome we could hope for.

I'm not high on Nurkic, but he's a big body and cheap so that's good. The first rounder this year is the real prize -- probably nothing special in the mid twenties, but three first rounders are valuable assets and provide some flexibility.

Assuming Nurkic can actually play, I wouldn't expect a seamless transition; he seems like an I'll fit for Stotts' scheme. Now that might be as much of an indictment of Stotts as Nurkic, but I somehow envision a lot more "Meyers Lemon" and Nurkic getting 12-15 minute stints marked with inconsistency, as the guards fail to get him touches and hang him out to dry on defense with the usual diet of dribble penetration. If he does have a substantial impact it will probably be next season at the earliest.

Reservations.....quelled?

All glass half-empty guys. Which has normally been the way to be to start but when it is wrong (not as often) it is really wrong.

I'm cautiously curious to see how he handles adversity. He failed miserably at it in Denver. It will certainly be different adversity, but adversity nonetheless

Yes I could not help wonder that myself while watching him interviewed after the game. His success in Portland has been so fast and so electric. Everything has gone right......so far. That can't last. It's only Portland but he is a mini rockstar right now. He needs to stay grounded and keep working his ass off. I think Dame and CJ will help in this area. We do not want to see a Billy Ray Bates scenario.

Man. Sometimes I don't know how to feel going forward after reading some of the posts in here. We just had one of the best performances by a Blazer in recent memory. I thought we'd be anxious to see future wins going forward?

For the most part. It was a little concerning that he couldn't get the quadruple double last night, but he's still young so hopefully he'll improve.

All glass half-empty guys.

That's not true at all. I was one of the few defending CJ after his rough first couple of years while everyone else criticized him. So there.
