Those fears are affirmed in the findings of the latest Quinnipiac University/New York Times/CBS News polls of likely voters in both states, which show that Mr. Obama has widened his lead over Mr. Romney and is outperforming him on nearly every major campaign issue, even though about half said they were disappointed in Mr. Obama’s presidency

But Mr. Romney is facing mounting hurdles in these two critical states, which hold nearly as many electoral votes as the rest of the swing states combined. Mr. Romney’s lead among older Americans has shifted toward an advantage for Mr. Obama; his competitiveness with Mr. Obama on who would better handle the economy has dipped into slightly negative territory; more view Mr. Romney unfavorably than favorably — the opposite is true for the president — and majorities say Mr. Romney does not care about the problems of people like them.

The New York Times, in collaboration with Quinnipiac University and CBS News, is tracking the presidential race with recurring polls in six states. In Ohio — which no Republican has won the presidency without — Mr. Obama is leading Mr. Romney 53 percent to 43 percent in the poll. In Florida, the president leads Mr. Romney 53 to 44 percent in the poll.

Its becoming evident why Pawlenty said seyonara!

I guess that's why both are spending time in Ohio. You know...because it's over.

In Florida, Obama is now up 4% with seniors despite being down 13% last month. A 17% swing in one month!

Seems like Romney's gaffe's were indeed detrimental. Especially with those not paying income tax, whose vote certainly matters.

Question: When was the last time in Florida the Democrats had a +9 percentage point advantage?

Deflecting the reality of that huge swing in the polls?

Care to admit that gaffe hurt the Romney campaign?

Not at all. I'll ask again: Do you think a +9 percentage point advantage in Florida for Democrats is an accurate and representative sample?

Its all we have to go off right now. The HUGE swing in polls is not good for the Romney campaign. I contribute it solely to the major gaffe he made a couple weeks ago. As much as the Repub's around here want to shrug it off as nothing. Way to alienate an important voting bloc Mr. Romney.

Ah, I get it. It's easier for you to just say, "I don't want to think for myself, so I'll just swallow whatever I'm fed." Vaya con Dios.

I don't think anyone can say the statements about 47% didn't hurt Romney. The few article I read almost always mentions Romney's problem with many voters is voters feel Romney can not relate with their personal situation. And for most of them who are good people trying to dig themselves out of a very tough situation, they are probably right.

I tell you though, if people think Romney will be better for the economy, they might not care if their president can relate with them.

Fascinating.

Since that CBS poll came out, PPP(D) has Obama+4, WaPost has Obama + 4, FLA Times-Union has Obama +3. In fact, CBS at +9 is more than 2x the spread of all the polls since 9/12 (but 2).

President Obama holds slight lead over Mitt Romney in Times-Union Florida poll

Overwhelming majorities with black and Hispanic voters have helped President Barack Obama to a slim lead in the Times-Union’s Insider Advantage/Majority Opinion Research Florida Presidential Poll released Tuesday.

Among likely voters, 49 percent favor Obama for November’s election and 46 percent like Mitt Romney.

Oh, so you only reference polls when its convenient for your argument?

Gotcha.

I reference polls I think are valid. I know it's hard for you to wrap your head around the concept, but it's called thinking for onesself.

Golly, you're so smart. You know, the way you just know the GOP is racist, just through anecdotal evidence. Brilliant.

Because I clearly know more than you.

Gosh! I hate trying to reason with non-intellectuals.

The guy thinks that Presidents don't interfere with labor disputes, and you're still conversing with him?

Maybe he'll deliver a package to your house someday for $50/hour.

The Post is +8 percentage points Democratic. In 2008, a watershed year, Florida was +3 Democratic.

Save the pretentiousness for November 6, when we get 4 more years.

Pretentiousness, statistical analysis, whatever. Numbers are important. However, any use of statistics have to pass the smell test. That poll doesn't to me.

Link me up where President Reagan took away $2 an hour from a labor dispute and you have a point. President isn't going to but into a labor dispute and make a say of whats going to happen in wage increases. Broader issues, sure. Wage increases through a contract and I call BS.

I think if you unskew the polling in Ohio, Romney really leads by 118%.

You can't see the pretentiousness in 'wrapping my head around a concept'? You, are as delusional as I thought. Not a very good representation for the Republican party.

The election is over. Why are you still posting about polls. Obama won. You already have called it.

Well, seems like the Republican's on this board are conceding.

Lets wrap up the Obama satire and start focusing on Blazer season.
