Obama Invites Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian Leader to Meet Next Week – Refuses to Meet Netanyahu

President Obama has invited Egypt's new president to meet him in New York when the United Nations General Assembly convenes in September, an administration official confirmed to The Hill.
The invitation to Mohammed Morsi, a member of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, a group with a violent past, could raise concerns among lawmakers who have questioned continued U.S. support for Egypt.

The Obama administration has taken steps to reach out to Morsi, arguing he is committed to the Arab Spring revolution and will respect the results of democratic elections.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to meet Morsi on Saturday.

Not sure why our President should waste any more time talking to Netanyahu. His position is abundantly clear and every time he gets press he uses it to inflame the situation by grandstanding and threatening to anhialate Iran. He's no diplomat and he's no statesman. He's a rabble rouser who keeps throwing a wrench into everything to prevent a peaceful solution.

Meeting with the new democratically elected leaders of a reborn country certainly is more in Obama's job description, and of far more importance to America's future. He needs to let these guys know what's what and that they don't really want us as enemies.

If Netanyahu has any sense of political savvy, he should hold a press conference in NYC talking to an empty chair at the exact same moment Obama is yukking it up with Letterman. He too much of a statesman to pull of such an obvious stunt, though.

You didn't miss anything. Netanyahu asked for a meeting with our President regarding Iran's nuclear threat, and was told he was too busy. Mind you, he was not too busy to be on Letterman, but you have to have your priorities in line. When it was leaked, Obama decided to talk to Netanyahu--around 1 or 2 AM in Israel, but our C in C is busy raising money in Vegas and Colorado--and then pretend that call makes up for the very public snub.

You don't think not agreeing to see Netanyahu while agreeing meeting with Morsi doesn't send a message to the mullahs in Iran? I do.
