Unfortunately, the FBI has detected some terrorist chatter. Therefore, there will be stand-ins for Tuesday night's Presidential Debate hosted by Candy Crowley.

BTW, those were real stand-ins....for Crowley practicing purposes.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama retained a slim lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll on Monday, as he appeared to have stemmed the bleeding from his poor first debate.
Three weeks before the November 6 U.S. election, Obama leads Romney by 2 percentage points, with 47 percent support from likely voters in the national online poll, to 45 percent support for Romney.
The margin was small enough to be a virtual tie, but Obama's slight edge broadened from Sunday, when he went ahead of Romney by 1 point after falling behind in the wake of Romney's decisive victory in their first presidential debate on October 3.
"Romney received a bump from that first debate, but the very nature of a bump is it recedes again," Ipsos vice president Julia Clark said. "We're now seeing Obama regaining a little bit of a foothold as we go into the second debate. They go into the debate on equal footing."
The two men meet again on Tuesday night at New York's Hofstra University in a debate that Obama needs to win to grab back the campaign momentum. The third debate is set for October 22 in Boca Raton, Florida.

Lot riding on this 2nd debate

Wall Street has really benefitted from Obama's policies and the Fed knocking interest rates to near zero. If you want to invest in something that has a better return than inflation, the stock market has been the safest way to go. Makes you wonder if it's not another bubble (up 30% since 2007?).

Yet some very main stream Wall Street talking heads are speaking up and they're not pro Obama.

And I thought it was rather weird that Piers Morgan isn't exactly anti-Romney either:

I don't think Romney is going to do as well or even win the next debate. But if he does, not even by as much as first time (slaughter), but wins with substance and presidential demeanor, I'm done. I don't need a third debate, Romney gets my vote.

I thought the first debate, Romney had a lot to lose as I (and I think many) were ready to tune him out if the debate went bad for him. Ironically now I think it is Obama in that situation in the second debate.

So you vote for the best stage actor, not the most qualified to be President?

I expect the Kenyan to be on his A game tonight. Romney better have his shit together, or he will lose everything he gained from the last debate

Which Romney? The Severely Conservative?

The moderate Romney?

Well they are all actors, so why not give the vote to the best actor. :)

But my vote goes to someone who gives me confidence in their ability to handle their job as president and be a good face for the nation.

Right now I see it being Romney because Obama has had his chance and didn't do much, defintely did do what he promised (but who does, huh)

Like repealling Don't Ask don't tell. Or passing a medical system overhaul. Or a huge stimulus plan. What a slacker.

Obama's term would have been great without all the statism, the massive debt increase, the bitter partisan way he passed his legislation when he had democratic control of the house and filibuster proof senate.

Again, if the economy is doing better (5M jobs created!) recently, it is because republicans have obstructed his agenda, right? Things really sucked worse when he was spending that stimulus plan.

We sure should listen to what everyone tells us is what Romney is instead of listening to Romney himself.

Well, since neither Romney nor Ryan has the stones to answer ANY of the hundreds of media who have asked for facts/details/or even vague clues as to what and how he might actually accomplish whatever it is they "stand for" at this particular moment, I'm seriously curious exactly "what" you believe he will accomplish and SPECIFICALLY how he will go about it.

We're forced to listen to everyone else, because Romney refuses to answer our questions. And every time he moves his lips, he's caught in another lie.

Quite possibly the most dishonest man to ever run for office.

Yeah, I want to hear some details like "hope and change", you know, some real specifics.

I never said he was a slacker. He did make promises he never followed through on and I don't think he has been particualrly effective on the agenda items he did try to follow through on.

I won't lose sleep if Obama is president for antoher 4 years, but his shine has worn off for me.

Well Romney will be answering questions tonight for those watching.

I don't know what Romeny will accomplish. What has Obama accomplished in the last 4 years?

looks like Hillary was the "fall girl" for Bengazi.

The answers to your questions are on Romney's WWW site.

Romney didn't answer any questions in the first debate, but tonight will be different?

It would take days to list all that Obama has accomplished, but in a nutshell he prevented the worst depression this country would have ever known, saved the housing industry and kept the dream of home ownership alive for average Americans, killed Bin Laden (our country's number one enemy), enabled tens of millions of non-insured Americans with pre-conditions to once again be able to obtain health insurance, mended torn fences with most of our allies around the world, made huge strides in preventing discrimination, saved the auto industry from total collapse, saved the financial industry from total collapse, put America back on the path toward independence from foreign oil...

You are correct when you say he didn't accomplish everything he said he would, but the record shows he tried and it was congress that prevented his success.

No, they aren't. I've been there repeatedly and there are no answers or supportable facts to indicate how he can realistically accomplish any of the extremely vague ideas he says he now stands for.

Yes

Candy Crowley, the moderator for Tuesday’s second presidential debate, isn’t backing down.

The CNN reporter and host said Monday that she intends to take an active part in the town-hall-style debate, despite efforts by the campaigns of President Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney to curtail her role.

Crowley left little doubt Monday that she plans to function as a journalist during the debate at Hofstra University in New York. On CNN’s “The Situation Room,” she told colleague Wolf Blitzer: “I’m trying to just know what the facts are, what the [candidates’] positions are, so that when something comes up that maybe could use a little further explanation, it might be as simple as: ‘But the question, sir, was oranges and you said apples. Could you answer oranges?’ Or it might be as simple as: ‘But, gee, how does that fit with the following thing?’ ”

That would be a welcome change, harking back to the debates before Bush Sr.'s Presidency, when The League of Women's Voters sponsored the debates. But I'm not holding my breath.

Every debate since has been completely worthless as far as gaining any usable knowledge of the candidates actual plans for America.

We're left with examining the candidate's previous actions and their lifestyle to guess at their motives and who controls their actions, and frankly a guy who parks his vast fortune offshore in other countries and profits by sending jobs overseas would have to bring all of his money home to America before I could consider him a fellow countryman let alone a viable candidate for improving our country.

If Romney did that one simple thing, transferred all his money that he has sitting in foreign banks into American banks and/or investments, he'd be a shoo-in for President. The fact he won't says more about his character than any debate or campaign ever could.

There's a reason people use offshore accounts. It facilitates international partnerships and investments. It is both unrealistic and unfair to demand he do with his money what MARIS61 says he must. Who made MARIS61 the boss of Romney?

Quit playing the fool.

Tax evasion is why people put their money offshore.

It's legal, and I'm not saying it isn't.

But it's enormously revealing as to the person's character, or lack of.

He puts his own private gain ahead of his country's health, and that's not the kind of person I want running America, for obvious reasons.

Awesome. Next time some mexican buyer wants to buy a house from you, let him pay in pesos.

You are playing the fool.
