$3.6 million was his highest salary in the NBA. A lot compared to what the average Joe makes, but pretty small potatoes for an NBA big man. His NBA career was also rather short. I'm sure he also made some decent money playing professionally in Argentina and Spain, too. In any case, voluntarily giving back money you didn't actually earn, even if you were contractually entitled to it, is a class move.

If I'm a Blazers center and I have a bad case of the hiccups, I'm retiring before it becomes life threatening. Can't blame Oberto one bit.
