does anybody else notice that oden's been getting good position inside, and has his man sealed off for the easy lob over the top to him, but nobody on the team is willing to throw him the ball? dude may as well just stand by the 3 point line to conserve energy considering nobody is gonna pass him the ball anyways.

They automatically swing the ball instead of lobbing the ball to Greg.

pretty much. it's like they don't realize that when he gets good position, a double team has to come, leaving somebody wide open. but hey, i'm sure our coach has mentioned that to them...

What's funny, on one play Oden was fronted and Blake didn't give him the ball, then on the SAME play, Outlaw was fronted and Blake threw it to him.

yeah, noticed that, that's where this thread came from

The most disgraceful thing I saw was when Oden had Kristic sealed off in front and a wide open lane to the hoop and neither Travis or Blake would throw it over the top, then Trav gave it back to Blake and sealed off his man and what do ya fucking know? Blake throws the pass over the top to Outlaw and he goes up and makes a floater...

So many wasted opportunities from just horrible selfish decisions.

I wanted to vomit watching this game vs the Thunder, and pretty much every other game as well. They are wasting Oden's abilities away.

well, at least i'm not the only one that noticed that trend

Thank god you changed your avatar. The last one was turning my stomach every time I looked at it which sucks, because I generally enjoy your commentary. No question Oden deserved at least one or more lobs over the top. They are all thinking the back of their minds "If I turn it over here Nate will kill me!"

I thought I must have hallucinated when i saw that play. I seriously thought to myself "That couldn't have been what I thought it was..."

Yes, I've noticed that. I've also noticed that Oden has the worst hands I've ever seen on a big man. He's constantly getting the ball knocked out of his hands or losing control of it. Can't say I'm surprised he doesn't get more passes.

He needs to gather himself and not rush it. He has more power than most at his position. Collect yourself, then go up hard and either get fouled or make an easy bucket. I think he is rushing things a bit.

Worst hands? I don't buy that ... he does however lack fundamentals when it comes to ball security, because he tends to bring the ball down which makes it easy for guys to dig in and strip him when he goes up.

Same thing. It amounts to "bad hands" because he gets the ball stripped from him.

That pass isn't as easy as everyone is making it out to be. A lob over Kristic to Oden with weak side looking to steal a lob pass. I don't even see Miller trying that pass yet.

I think Oden is working hard trying to establish position, but I don't think he is that effective right now. Sure if you had a Chris Paul who can drive the lane draw then lob . . . Blkae's nice assist came when he drove then bounce pass to Oden.

But that lob pass when Oden is being fronted . . . the other team fronts Oden daring the Blazers to lob it in. Oden needs to post up and not allow himself to be fronted . . . I know, is easier said than done.

I guess I thought your assertion is that he's got physically "bad hands" (which is usually something that can not be practiced out of a player), poor fundamentals are something that can be corrected with enough practice -- and touches.

But worst hands ever? Somebody's got a case of the exaggerations.
That somebody might be you. I never said "worst hands ever"--I said worst hands I've ever seen on a big man. If you can think of another NBA big man in the last 30 years who lost the ball as much as Oden does, please tell me who it was. I really have no idea.

I personally can't remember ever seeing a big man lose the ball as much as Oden does.

Chris Dudley. Oof, when he got the ball it was a craps shoot to see how long he held it.

Dudley was a horrible shooter, but I watched him his entire career with the Blazers and I don't recall him fumbling it away as much as Oden does.

It's about him rushing. He has so many opportunities to score, but he rushes things too much. Gather yourself and muscle the score in big fella!

Hmm... maybe I'm thinking 2005 Przybilla.

Oden's just being a spaz out there right now. If he can calm down, he'll be fine, imho.

So many opportunities to score? What games have you been watching?

Whenever Oden just posts up, back to the basket, the defense just brings a double and forces a pass/TO/rushed FGA. I think that's the most inefficient form of offense they can get out of Oden as of today.

Kickouts set up open shots.

What happened to that little jump shot Oden was using in the preseason? I don't think I've seen it once in the first four games. Where did Oden's offense go, anyway? He never tries a hook shot, either. Just wants to muscle it up for a dunk.

He tried at least one hook shot tonight in the 1st quarter... missed it though.
