Oden hanging with the mall rats

Good to see that it WAS Portland and our fans and our evil media, that caused Greg Oden to be a dipshit.

Are you sure it's Oden, or maybe it's a guy who looks a lot like him!

I blame Canzano and Quick. Who doesn't go to Victoria's Secret with their mom?

EDIT - at least Sam Bowie tried to make a career out of the NBA.

What's sad? Why is he a dipshit? Because he can afford only normal pasttimes, and isn't out spending his savings? Because he lives intelligently and humbly?

I don't know who Joe Kinsey is, but he sure slanted his tiny article. Oden accompanied his mother to an underwear store, so Kinsey writes that he was looking for ass. The ass is Kinsey.

The guy has made over $21 million the last five years. I do get your point, but to say he is just some regular Joe is an insult to us regular Joes.

Plus, I would never, EVER, go to Victoria's secret with my Mom, let alone talk to some chicks in the store while doing so.

He's basically like any other 20 something unemployed dude. Drinking at bars, going to the mall with his mom and hanging with trannies.

I didn't read the article, so i based my "dipshit" comment on the fact he seems to still be unwilling to make a serious effort at owning up to his problems/faults.

Which 20 something unemployed dudes go to the mall with their mom?

What else, they are likely home jerking off all day so they have to get out

What problems/faults? He has never in his life displayed any ego. Would all of you respect him if he spent his money on parties and mansions like several bankrupt stars did?

I really don't get the Oden hate. I'm hugely disappointed that he couldn't get healthy here and didn't want to be a Blazer, but I see no reason to hate the guy.

What the fuck does that even mean? How does looking at lingerie in a mall correlate to him being unwilling to "own up to his problems/faults" with his busted ass body?

Some of you people need to let this shit go. He couldn't play basketball in the NBA because his body fell apart and he apparently got really depressed about that and drank a lot and attempted to hook up with chicks and whatnot -- pretty much sounds like a twenty-something male.

Well, missing out on Durant wasn't quite as bad as missing out on Jordan/Olajuwon/Barkley.

I was all sincere because I had just waken up. Now I think that the posters in the bottom half of the thread should kick the asses of those in the top half.

Sad that this is even in the "news".

Pardon me, but why should I care what Greg Oden does? He is not my personal friend, not my colleague, not a Blazer, not my Congressional representative, not breaking laws. So far as I can tell he is a private citizen doing legal activities. As such, it's not my business and frankly I'm just not all that interested.

he blamed Portland on his way out, and found his solace in the bottom of a bottle and in the pants of loose women.

so yeah, he's being a dipshit.

I'm sorry, were we drafting a center or a Pope? Jesus, you pretend to be a liberal, but you sound like a fucking Evangelical.

A "dipshit?" You mean "typical male between the ages of 18 and 25?" Maybe some of you guys were the epitome of maturity and responsibility in your early twenties, but whether or not you think Greg Oden handled his off-court business appropriately or not, doesn't change the one overriding truth, his body utterly and completely betrayed him. So maybe he got depressed and turned to booze and women trying to make himself feel better, maybe the booze didn't help his rehab, but it certainly didn't cause his knees to completely disintegrate.

I feel pretty badly for Greg, he looks like the kind of guy where basketball picked him instead of the other way around and he never looked all that comfortable with the "franchise savior" tag that people wanted to pin on him even when he was marginally healthy. For his sake, I hope he's able to get healthy and finds some measure of happiness and doesn't end up a broken drunk -- whether or not he returns to basketball in some capacity or just ends up coaching gym in a Terre Haute highschool.

Greg didn't live up to his draft status and because he and Roy couldn't stay healthy, the Blazers missed a chance to contend for some NBA titles. You know what? Big fucking deal; it's just basketball.

Does any team have as many "what ifs" as the Blazers?? Sabonis, Bowie, Oden, Jordan, Barkley, Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Durant....
