Just curious, if you could keep one who would you choose?

Oden. He is the only way we win a championship. Batum or anyone else will simply keep us "good".

Batum.

Greg has had two major knee injuries in his first three years in the League. Can he stay healthy in the future? That's a question we ask ourselves .......every year.

Nic is entering elite status as a defensive specialist. Greg can in the future but there's just too many question marks regarding both his knees.

I know Oden will win in a landslide, but I would rather keep the no-name kid who is actually productive.

BTW, here is a question for you to ponder.

If Batum had been a top 5 pick, and Oden had been selected in the 20s, would we even be having this debate? If Batum had been highly hyped, and Oden had been just another rookie, would anyone still question that Batum was the more valuable player?

Obviously I would rather keep Oden, but I would also rather have Chris Paul, so I'm willing to do almost whatever it takes to get that deal done.

Batum is my favourite Blazer, but Oden by a mile.

I would pick batum, but it's nice to see some people still believe in Oden. No one outside of this forum does. so..........

How about we keep both and still get Chris Paul? No go? okay well then Oden.

It's tough, because basically you're looking at two great defenders who need to be set up on offense. Should Paul find Greg under the basket, or kick it out to Batum? Greg's the high risk, high reward. Batum's a blue chip, guaranteed starter wherever he goes. Keeping Nic means always having four positions filled with solid players if Paul comes. Keeping Greg could mean only having three if he can't get over his knee, but if he does then the missing position of small forward is one of the easiest to fill. So I would say Oden.

Honestly, I would vote to keep both and have Aldridge go, but they already have West and he's cheaper. Unless some kind of three way deal could be made.

to me it comes down to which spot is easier to replace with a decent/good player. decent swingmen are a dime a dozen, while a center that can be productive is tougher to fill. at this point i'm in a little more of a swing for the fences mood, i want a championship (actually multiple but i'm not trying to be greedy) out of one of my favorite teams and the blazers are the closest i have right now. oden is the high risk/high reward pick and even with paul i think he would still be the key to a championship run.

Obviously Oden. Batum could be a better Tayshaun Prince. Batum is hugely cool. I love Batum. But Oden is a potential game-changer. He should be the biggest baddest dude out there. A taller Alonzo Mourning. I will be very sad if Batum is traded, even if we get Saint Paul back. But if ODEN were traded, even for Paul, I would be FURIOUS.

Oden, potential just to great. Batum still possibly has a question with his shoulder. Running thru picks is not easy on them. Another reason is we all like it when we put Batum on the other teams point guard, but if we have Paul, Batum will rarely if ever guard the others teams point guard.

Just simply think which person fits best with the saying "FEED THE BEAST!" and keep that person(ODEN!)

Batum is my favorite Blazer, but Oden is the pretty obvious answer to me.

Just like no one outside this forum thinks Batum will be anything more than a role player.

In this league you need high peak players to take you on title runs. That's why I'd take my chances with Oden.

I don't know how healthy he will be. I would definitely trade him for Paul though (assuming Aldridge isn't enough or whatever).

We have to start asking ourselves the same question with Batum. He dislocated his shoulder in the '08-'09 season, and hasn't really been fully healthy since. Plus, a shoulder dislocation is MUCH more susceptible to re-injury than a bone break. Oden may have had more severe injuries to date, but Batum's seems more likely to be chronic.

Keep Oden. So far Batum is still a "promising" player. Like Webster, he hasn't reached any significant measure of his "potential" and may or may not in the ensuing years. But centers like oden only come along every 5 years or so. Injured or not, a healthy Oden is worth substantially more then Batum- even if Batum plays up to his potential.

Oden, not even a question.

Oden still is the path to a championship, especially if you think about needing to compete with big teams like LA.

while on the court, both have been productive... Greg just more so. One is a very efficient complimentary player, the other a very efficient dominant player

this is a distinction that I wish some here would grasp... all injuries aren't the same going forward

Underlined sentence is why Oldmangrouch and the other haters are so silly. Until it's proven that Oden has congenital bone issues (his legs or feet would have broken by now if that were the case as they take the most pressure) it's been a nasty series of flukes. I promise if we traded him he would become a god and haunt us on some big market team where he would inevitably end up. Even if Batum becomes twice what I think he can be, he will never, ever, ever haunt us the way Oden would.

Yep, haters just don't get it. They want to have a good team, but not a championship team.

Try any basketball forum with blazers fans who understand basketball and that rarity of a coordinated 7 footer.

Too many Blazers fans have had too much big man trauma and resent big men when they are hurt far, FAR more then when our SF sits out half the season or our star SG misses about 20 games per year. I swear to god that's why people are so unreasonable about this OBVIOUS answer question. If you want a title it's Oden, if you want a sure thing competitive team that gets spanked by LAL or god's be praised they man up to get swept every year by Miami well you go with Batum then obviously.

You could substitute both Roy and for that matter Paul's name for Batum that's why I want to stooge slap the people who voted for Batum.

No question G.O. For the same reason we drafted him. It is easier to find a very good SF then it is to find a very good center.
