From Blazer's Edge on Twitter:

Nate on Greg's knee: "still swelling" and "they didn't say anything about surgery" greg is out tomorrow and sunday!!

-Pop

are you fucking kidding me? I love Greg and still stand by him, but banging knees keeps him out essentially 1.5 weeks?

who is blazers edge and how do they get so close to the team?

Blazersedge is a blog/fan site ran by Dave Decker who lives in Idaho. Ben also works on the site and the Blazers gave them media access so Ben gets to go to all media events. The Blazers are very accommodating to bloggers and Ben has been updating on the BE twitter on this trade day.

I heard it is possible Oden might even has to have surgery. If he is out 6-8 weeks or longer I bet for sure we are not making the playoffs with Frye as our backup RF.

I don't want to seem Chicken Littleish, but this worries me. Last night I was thinking that Greg's knee might be worse than the team is admitting, but they didn't want to let the cat out of the bag before the trade deadline, for fear of weakening their bargaining postion. Guess that didn't matter much in retrospect, if it was even a consideration.

all the more pritchard is a fucking disgrace. you know odens hurt and might need surgury yet YOU DO NOTHING

I don't even want to consider the possibility of surgery, so I'm just going to pretend that I never read this post. Because if I had read this post, and if it then comes true, I'm not sure I'll be happy with what words come out of my fingertips.

Someone needs to supply you with some valium or something because you take sports way too seriously. You're going to stress yourself into a heart attack one day.

It would probably only be to clear out the chip and wouldn't be that serious but I'm not sure how long a player is out for that type of operation. What 4-8 weeks?

He's fine, they need to stop treating him like a baby and treat him like the 40 year old man he is!

Ah...from who?

From where?

On 95.5 or 1080 the fan at the 20 minute sportsbreak. They said Oden out the next two games for sure and that the team hadn't ruled out surgery, didn't say he'd have it, only that they hadn't ruled it out.

Could that be why they were discussing a Shaq deal?

Sorry, I caused such a uproar but there seems to be at least a small chance he will need a minor surgery to remove chip. That means we have to live with Frye with no trade.

Maybe because I can't see any other reason to trade for Shaq and even if Oden had a operation I wouldn't think Shaq would make sense unless Oden was out for another year.

Phew, thank goodness I didn't read this post either.

It makes a morbid kind of sense.

The knee is worse than they are admiting, and Oden needs surgery. Even if it is just a "clean out", he is likely out until April. Perfect excuse to tank and shoot for another season in the lotto. Perfect excuse to avoid the stress/risk of a trade.
