We'd have to average 3 wins per 4 games to win 60. I think your winning streak prediction is maybe a tad shy of the end of the limb.

Um. Dont jerk my chain. I love this deal. Its cruel to even mention if its not true.

I thought this was a mini camp update?

What happened to this thread? And how was it hijacked by some rookie!

Dude, I made the post about the Memphis trade. This is a new account I made because my other wasn't working.

Sorry to build the hype......this was just a good trade idea I thought of.

So post it in its own thread ... :dunno:

4 10 minute quarters ... who knows how long he played, but probably somewhere around 30 minutes.

According to the article on the front page of NBA.com, he had 7 pts/8 rbs.....while Lopez went for 18/5.

That's....not confidence inspiring. :smiley-frown: Were his minutes limited due to foul trouble and/or poor conditioning - or did Brook just :smiley-ripley::smiley-spank::smiley-love::smiley-klofa:

Yeah I was hoping for more from Greg. That's disappointing.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it's 10

His line was 7 pts (3-6 FG), 10 reb, 1 stl, 1 ast, 1 blk in 24 minutes

Also LOL cmon guys, it's an exhibition 7 seconds or less game. He barely got touches, which is not surprising considering his teammates (i.e. Rudy Gay..)

Seems Schumann really only rates based on offensive skills or potential considering he notes that Greg was the best defensive big there and best rebounder.

Here's Holdahl's wrap up of big GO's performance:

Not that he was happy with the result. USA Blue, lead by Kevin Durant and Brook Lopez, beat Oden’s USA White side 100-81. Oden had a block, an assist and a steal to go along with his double-digit rebound total, but in the end it wasn’t enough to win the scrimmage.
Pretty decent numbers considering he wasn't an offensive center piece.

It should be noted that Oden, who started the game, sat out almost the entire third quarter as Team Blue built what would end up being an insurmountable lead. The point of the scrimmage was to evaluate which players might best fit in with the returning members of the “Redeem Team,” so it’s within the realm of possibility that Oden sat out longer than maybe he would have if winning were the ultimate goal.
This is even more encouraging and helps explain why Lopez, Durant and others were able to blow the lead open.

GO once again showed why many think he’ll be much improved defensively in the upcoming season. Rarely was he goaded into leaving his feet on pump fakes or hesitation moves. His lateral quickness and foot speed seem to be better now than anytime after the microfracture surgery. He’s not winning any footraces out there, but he’s doing a fine job of getting up and down the court. He’s moving his feet really well, doing an excellent job of staying in front of his man. On one series in particular, Lopez threw a bevy of baseline moves at Oden, but he never took the bait.

The one glaring mistake Oden made on defense was not closing out on Lopez when he took a FIBA-shortened three-pointer, a shot he made. I think GO can be forgiven for that one considering Lopez isn’t exactly known for his ability to hit the outside shot.

He did commit four fouls, but none were of the foolish, forehead slap-inducing variety. In fact, I thought he did a nice job of using his body to contest shots and staying out of foul trouble. He didn’t throw his body at guys, but he didn’t shy away from contact either.
I was pretty encouraged to hear he was so spry on defense, and I remember seeing a twitter that one of those fouls (a clean block on Lopez) probably shouldn't have been called.

Casey is a company man (but nowhere near the pollyanna that Mike Barret is) so take his summary for what it's worth, but you have to at least be somewhat encouraged

Lopez did not show up Oden. Oden had the better defensive night and really shuts down Brook. Lopez did finish well, ran the court well, and rolled to the basket well. So Lopez > Oden on O but we all know that.

Yeah you could pretty much throw structure out the window. There was some ugly basketball, but breathtaking athleticism.

^^^ This is what a guy on realgm who is covering the mini-camp said.

I'm not trying to say conspiracy but what the fuck is it with the media that they can't give Greg any credit even when he met the explicit goals of the coaches. That is he rebounded well (10 boards) and played by all accounts really good defense. How does Derrick Rose with 6points and 2 assists with 4 turnovers warrant being called the 3rd best player there? And is Rudy Gay going to actually beat out the scorers the redeem team already has? I think not so his selfish scoring and black hole on offense is unlikely to mesh well with LBJ, Wade and Kobe who are all far, far better.

Durant clearly deserves the #1 spot and tip of the hat to him. I'm finally to the point where I can acknowledge Durant's skills and not feel a twinge. The stupid Oden vs. Durant thing makes it a bi-polar subject when really you can like both. Westbrook also looked to be great. How the hell does Jeff Green beat out Oden though? Oden also doubled up on Love's stat line.

Am I crazy or is this kind of insulting to GO and seeming to border on a total unwillingness to give GO some props. Ridiculous!

Oden came into the league riding a wave of over-heated hype. After 2 years of injuries, foul troubles, and occasional bouts of just poor play, nobody in the national media is going to risk pumping him up.
It is going to take time for people to adjust to the fact that he is neither savior nor bum, and find some realistic middle ground.

Putting up an 18 PER while recovering from a major surgery in his rookie season doesn't eliminate the possibility that he's as good as he was advertised (by the scouting community, not casual fanboys/girls).

He may never fulfill those expectations, but it's hardly like he's proven that he never will.

Video of the scrimmage (specifically Oden)

I have to say I think he looks pretty much like last season. Intimidating on defense, clumsy and awkward on O. I hope he keeps working, particularly on balance and leg strength.

He looked a little better but in general I'd have to agree with you. He's got a ways to go. He's still got half the summer to go though and I think he's on the right track, it just takes time. I think he needs to slim down a bit, that might help his lift and quickness.

I was actually disappointed to hear how slow Oden looked according to Holdahl. Oden had freakish numbers in the pre-draft camp in terms of speed for a man his size. Has he already lost that part of his game due to the injuries?

Well I didn't see Dre on the court throwing very many lobs or passes to him either.

Oden was rimchecking himself at the end of last season. An alley-oop was out of the question. Let's hope he's got some of his bounce back this year.

Oden may be the best offensive rebounder in the league, and that leads to a higher PER. Why some people want to diminish that obvious strength by running the offense through him baffles me. At least KP, Nate, and even Coach K seem to realize that he needs to focus on defense and rebounding consistently, and without fouling, is a positive.

Still needs to get leaner imo. I would say he is moving better though.
