Wow, for Harris and Murphy?

The Portland deal contained Harris and Troy Murphy with nearly $21 million in salary going to the Blazers for veteran point guard Andre Miller, 35 next month, and Joel Przybilla. Those two combined are under $15 million in salary. So either a third team or another player would be needed. The Record of North Jersey first reported Greg Oden ($6.7 million) would be included. A Blazers source said the organization seemed split about including Oden, down for the third time with a season-ending injury.

If Greg is going to NJ, they better be including something else. There's no way I'd include him in that deal for Harris and Murphy. That's bullshit.

Harris
Rudy
Matthews
Favors
Aldridge

That's not a bad young core to build around. The bench would be horrendous, but all of those players, with the exception of Harris, would be under 26 years old. We'd have to add a few more pieces, but I like the front court of Aldridge and Favors. I'd give up on Oden and Batum for that combo.

Im gonna be PISSED if we trade away greg for a deal we could do without him. Actually i'm just gonna be PISSED in general if we give up on him now.

There is no way in hell I would make this trade. I would give up Batum or Oden in the right trade but not for two players they clearly want to give away. Favors is a head case and marginal star. We need to wait with Greg. The blazers are 4 years into it and by the time he comes back (after the lockout) he will be out 2+ yrs. He will be ready and fully recovered. Trade him now and he will come back and bite us....

Why do you think Favors is a head case and a marginal star? Are you thinking of Cousins?

Lol. It's the NY Post....

Although, you know who else was traded to the Nets? Bowie and Drazen.

Oden+Rudy for Harris, scrub, 1st rounder, and scrub. Harris gets injured once he comes to Portland. Blazer fans=Fuuuuuuuuuu

haha this all started cuz Quick's blurb about Odens salary matching the needed money?

If we could somehow sweeten the pot with Oden and get Favors then you have to make that deal. I'd rank the likelihood that Favors develops into a helluva power forward as being slightly higher than Greg ever getting and staying healthy long enough to be a difference maker.

The ultimate irony for me would be the fact that Bowie was traded to New Jersey for Buck ... I think the universe is trying to tell us something

I'd make a deal for Favors, and I'm not even bullish on his prospects in the NBA. For me it's all about getting the Oden albatross off the neck of the organization while getting something in return.

Dont believe everything you read.

why not? more laughs for the rest of us when posters attach their names to sports gossip columnists floated rumors as if they're relaying facts. It's like... "Hey everyone, just wanted to pass the memo that I'm extremely gullible." Its also funny when said posters silly rumor doesn't happen (of course) and they continue to act like it almost did.

over the years, what is Quick's batting average on the shit he throws out in the offseason and at the trade deadline... 1%?

Oden's value around the league is in his expiring contract, and not his play.

That's just sad. That said, you can't trade him with his value this low.

I'm afraid it isn't going to get any higher.

That said, I still think the trade that Natebishop3 proposed is just silly.

I usually agree with your point of view about players,trades..
Favors in my oponion is an avarage player. The guy was drafted 3rd overall, not injured, playes for a bad team and average 6 point a game. Can't get playing time
(19 min./game) on a team with no talent at his position.

Cousins on the other hand a great talent but an idiot.

He's a rookie not getting much burn because he's very foul prone. Give him some time. Most picks don't pan out in their rookie season...

Yes I see your point about a rookie and he will get better.
3.3 fouls/game

I checked and you are right his fouls/ game average is pretty high.

Oden's value around the league is in his expiring contract, and not his play.

He's worth more as a 23 year-old, very skilled (if oft-injured) center than as an expiring contract.

I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise.

+1

Well stated

I would like to think of Oden as Kimi Raikkonen. If he did not have bad luck - he would not have luck at all. Raikkonen was still good enough for one WDC. I would keep Oden hoping for that one magical year.

I disagree. The receiving team won't get a chance to see Oden on the court prior to having to make a decision on offering him an $8.2 million QO. For Paul Allen, that's chump change if he wants to keep Oden. For another team, it may be a more difficult decision, considering the GM won't get to see how he fits in with the players/coach. Plus, if GO accepts the QO, it's basically a wasted trade in terms of on-court production.

Maybe because he has a history of being injured. All the time. Every season.

I think he meant Oden is worth more to keep than to trade as a expiring contract.

I meant that the receiving team may value Oden's contract more than Oden the player.

Ed, I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise, at least in terms of it being a possibility for one or more teams.

::BUMP::

With the deadline coming up how many do you think are still split on retaining Oden?
