Passing on Adams is already making me nervous. His natural feel and size, he's everything that Leonard is not ....already.

Don't know how this applies... Leonard was drafted a year before Adams. Are you saying Adams will be better than CJ McCullum?

How about we wait until they have actually played in a real NBA game before we have decided their entire NBA career?

Why wait? We can tell right now which is going to be better. That is why we took Oden over Durant. Oden will have a much better career.

Seriously, Adams might end up being a good player. But, CJ might too. AT the position we drafted, with the information we had, CJ was a no-brainer. Most evaluators had him as a 5-7th pick talent.

Now, in hindsight, knowing that we were going to get Mo Williams and Crabbe, I probably would have taken Adams. But, none of those moves were made at the time of the pick. And CJ still could end up being a much, much better player than Adams.

I think you guys are sleeping on CJ a bit.

Yeah, he's injured. Yeah, he'd be 3rd-string at both of his spots. Yeah, he might spend some time in Boise this year.

But the kid can play.

No doubt he can play, but I can sympathize with the other side of the argument. Looking at the decision now, you have a guy who may not get many minutes behind Mo Williams (who is not old). If you put him on the court with Lillard, then CJ will likely have to be your 2, as he has shown zero ability at this point to run the offense. Sure, he may develop that ability, but Lillard came with it, and look how the Rivers experiment has worked out so far. With Crabbe on the roster, you already have a better defender than CJ and a guy who is legit size.

The somewhat fixed rotation is Lillard starting at PG, spending some time at SG and sitting out the rest. Honestly, I don't see a shortish scoring guard fitting into that role very well. My best hope is CJ is that Vinnie Johnson type of guy who comes in with the second unit and lights it up. But, in 100% 20-20 hindsight I'm not sure he was the best choice given the rest of the moves.

I agree that Mo will get a lot of burn, but I think CJ will eventually get the Barton minutes. Also, I still think Wes is on his way out this season. <-- No I don't have inside information Kingspeed!

With that said, i think CJ will be the replacement guard. Maybe we start Barton, then bring in CJ for the majority of the SG minutes. The 4th will be Mo for the time being until CJ really gets going.

Another effective big man would be great. But CJ can have a big role here, and personally, with the #10 pick, I'm expecting things from him. I will go with the Blazer scouting staff and believe he has potential to be a starting SG. And with Matthews contract coming up in a couple of years, CJ is in a perfect position to be groomed with goal of becoming a starting guard in a couple of years. If the kid can play, he is in an ideal situation being back up to Matthews (Crabbe as the second round pick(?), will just have to wait his turn, the Blazers have a much more serious investment with CJ)

I know many seem OK with the injury but that was another punch in the gut to me. This would have been a great year to learn and earn minutes.

An up and coming SG with the #10 pick . . . just what the Blazers ordered.

I know that you know this but at the time we didn't know the rest of the moves when we made the pick. When we made the pick we were saying that CJ would be our backup PG and play a lot of minutes in a 3 guard rotation with Dame and Wes. Mo wasn't even a rumor. We didn't even dream that he would sign for what he did let alone with us.

Adams was my 1b to CJ and fully expected Adams to be the pick as I thought there was no way MN would pass on CJ.

I'm not complaining about the pick - it just sucks that OKC landed this type of talent at #12! He has about everything you'd want in a C prospect. Size wise, he's every bit as big/strong as Oden.

I don't like okc landing him either, but I really like the cj pick. Hopefully I won't have to defend it later... Lol

How can you say that? I seem to remember everybody who was drafted in the top 30 to be your 1a and 1b at some point in the month leading up to the draft.

I didn't have Adams that high until I saw interviews with him. He is funny as hell, who cares if the guy can play he could have been the funniest Blazer since Patty Mills!
