OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread - February edition

He only does that well against us.

It's called the Patrick Beverley Northwest Vortex.

Beverley tonight in a loss to the Clippers as the starting PG. 5 points/5 rebounds/2 assists/4 turnovers/6 fouls in 29 minutes. It seems the refs were calling his perimeter muggings against Chris Paul. I hope Stotts is on the refs early against Houston in two weeks. It's a home game, and should be a big one in terms of seeding.

Great night. We win in a blowout, OKC and HOU loses. We're back in the #3 seed.

Honestly, after we lost to SA, I thought we'd never sniff the #3 seed again. I thought we were falling into 6-7 territory. I'm impressed with our guys.

Cleveland beats OKC 114-104 in OKC.

Westbrook with 17 shots.
Durant with 16 shots.

The tension in that locker room must be palpable right now.

OKC 0-3 since Westbrook's return. Welcome back Russ! We missed you.

Looking at OKC's remaining schedule, it's going to be very hard for even Westbrook to mess up at least the #2 seed. Still, it's fun to watch that team struggle once he's come back. He reminds me a bit of a Stephon Marbury or a Baron Davis, in that he can get assists, but he bogs down the offense to the point the other players can't consistently get good shots.

Does anyone else from the Portland area get a ban notification from this Thunder site? It's the first one that popped up on Google, and I've literally never even visited it before, let alone registered! I only looked it up to read what Thunder fans were saying about Westbrook right now.

It works for me. I think. But I'm not in Portland. Almost all of the threads show they are locked though, but I can read them.

Chris Paul is a bitch, that's why the refs were calling fouls. I only saw three of the fouls, but they were all bullshit.

Chris Paul is one of the players I just can't stand. So is Blake Griffin. I hate the Clippers.

Toss in Doc Rivers as a coach I can't stand for good measure.

NBA free agent-to-be Danny Granger is scheduled to have phone conversations with the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Blazers just don't seem to be on any players radar. Not wanting Granger (I wanted Davis), but wouldn't one vet player see this Ptd roster and think they could be the difference to making the team compete for a championship.

Caron Butler got waived

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat have emerged as frontrunners to sign forward Caron Butler, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

After securing a contract buyout from the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday morning, Butler is expected to clear waivers and become a free agent.

San Antonio and Chicago are in pursuit and plan to make pitches for Butler too, league sources said.

Waiting for Pau to get bought out . . .there is someone who I think turns the Blazers into contenders this year.

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't mind Pau Gasol next year, if his salary was reasonable. He'd be a good backup.

God i just threw up a little in my mouth.

Holy smokes! Nets up 31-8 in the 2nd quarter. How does Denver only have 8 points at home, 14 minutes into the game?

Nets are up 29-8 on the Nuggets after the first quarter.

So the Nets LOST by 44 and the next game WIN by 23........... wonder if that is some sort of a record?

Danny Granger informed general manager/coach Doc Rivers on Thursday night that he will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Once Granger clears waivers to become a free agent on Friday at 5 p.m. ET, he will sign a deal for the rest of the season and give Los Angeles an upgrade at small forward for the franchise's championship chase.

I would rather have Batum!

At this point Wright > Granger.

Great move for the Clips. This is for the playoffs. Granger can be a legit #1 option for a few minutes a game.

We need to stay ahead of LA. Right now the playoffs are setting up well. LAC and HOU are #4 and #5 and play one another. We'd be #3, with the Spurs in our bracket. It means that if we make the WCF, we wouldn't face the Clips, Rockets or Thunder until then. I'm convinced we can handle SAS, and if we can't handle GS, PHX, DAL or MEM, then we don't deserve to even talk playoffs.

It kind of sucks we aren't even hearing the Blazers being interested in any of these recently cut players.

This is a great move for the Thunder. They're going to be able to play a frontline of Ibaka, Durant and Butler for long stretches. That's a nice small ball lineup and it really helps their outside shooting.
