OFFICIAL 2014 Around the NBA thread - February edition

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

By breaking them up into smaller chunks it makes it easier read from the beginning and keep up with current events from around the league. Not everyone reads the forum daily. It's difficult to jump into a giant multi-page thread when you're just trying to get a synopses of what is happening in the last week or two.

If you want I can merge them all when the season is over so we have a giant 2014 NBA yearbook thread.

You suck! I'm gonna PM a mod and get you banned.

Wizards up 14 on the Thunder with 1 quarter left.

Wall 15 points, 15 assists, 5 steals through three quarters so far.

OKC has to come back to earth at some point. Tonight would be a good start.

That's what Last Page / Latest Post links are for. Once the small thread reaches page 2+, I don't see how that saves anyone any time. People want to read everything or the last couple days, not the past week or two. Monthly splits are pointless. If they want to peruse current events, as you say, it actually takes more time this way to find the various threads covering around the league action.

Deng has seen how a team mired in losing since LeBron James left town wrongly caters to its young star players, even as they continue to undermine head coach Mike Brown at almost every turn. In Chicago, where Deng broke in and played nine-plus seasons, there is a winning culture where players are expected to act like professionals and understand that they will suffer the consequences if they step out of line.

As Deng recently told one close friend, “the stuff going on in practice would never be tolerated by the coaching staff or the front office back in Chicago. It’s a mess."

So, I read that Trevor Ariza played some good defense on Durant. and i have read that statistically he is in the top 3 or 4 defending LeBron. I have always felt that if you have championship aspirations, that you need somebody to defend these two. Not to mention, we need better defense against everyone. This guy get almost 2 steals a game and over 6 rebounds, also almost 3 assists. He shoots 38 % from the three. The reason he can fit with the Blazers is because he can play with Batum a lot with Batum as SG, so he should be able to get 30 minutes. He's probably big enough to play pf in a small lineup.
Why might Washington trade him? he is in the last year of his contract. They have Martell Webster signed for four years and they just drafted Otto Porter. Also they don't seem to have a backup PG (they don't seem to like Maynor) and their backup sg is not much; so they might love to have Mo Williams.
So what's possible? Williams, leonard and Claver for Ariza.
We can add Watson and take back Maynor if you like him.

Mike Brown is the worst coach in the NBA right now, bar none (yes, worse than Kidd). He's always been ineffectual, and the fact that Cleveland rehired that clown is a sign that they have no clue how to run a franchise.

I have absolutely now idea how that guy keeps getting jobs. He won coach of the year because of one reason..... and that reason now plays in Miami.

I'd like them in 9-day chunks so that I can keep up. Here's your schedule, Sly. Start the new thread at midnight beginning each day listed. I even built in an occasional holiday for you.

Feb. 1
Feb. 10
Feb. 20 (Lincoln's Birthday)
March 2 (Washington's Birthday)
March 7 (makes up for too many holidays)
March 16 (you get the Ides of March off)
March 26 (you can have Spring Solstice off)

If you get that far ask me for your Playoff Schedule.

OK, forget about Maynor. After we get Ariza for Williams, Leonard and Claver; we don't need Wright, so i trade him and Watson for Andre Miller. Miller will just play backup PG, 12-15 minutes a game; if he's not amenable to that, don't make the trade.

I would do Wright, Claver, Leonard, Crabbe for Ariza/Maynor.

Dame/Maynor
Wes/Mo
Nic/Ariza
LA/TRob
Rolo/Freeland

Move Mo to his natural position at shooting guard. It's funny because if you look at 82games.com, he plays his best ball at shooting guard.

Was Ariza the one who ruined Rudy Fernandez? He just wiped out another player's season. I don't remember who.

yeh, that's why we need him on our team. so he can't hurt our guys!

I think Williams would be a key guy for Washington in this deal; and i don't think they would want another SF coming back, especially with two years on his contract.

I'd want Seraphin if we could. Ariza/Seraphin/Maynor... Or just Ariza/Seraphin.

They're going to want to dump Maynor's contract. I think that's a big part of it.

Is it possible to even get back Maynor? Or is that only with trades (like T-rob) that they have to wait a certain amount of time after they leave or get traded?

If hes just a salary dump, it won't take much so not much has to change... I just think Seraphin could be sneaky good.

i knew we should have never traded this guy
