What scares me is they talk about both Lillard and McCollum playing off ball more and Turner handling the ball more.

Yeah I like having a SF in there with Dame and CJ who can handle the ball but not as the main facilitator. If you really want to go that route then I would rather see Baldwin in there in a 3 guard lineup. The guy has a 6'10" wing span. He can guard a lot of SF's not named LBJ and KD.

That is why I’m paid to be here. To kick the rookies ass and break them down to their lowest in hopes of them learning and bettering themselves.

It is scientifically proven that students learn better near well manicured grass.

Is there a potential for some blowout games to kick off the season with?

I'm ashamed to say, but i really want to see a lineup of Collins,Layman,Trent,Baldwin and Simons! i already know how the starters play, i want to feel something fresh!

Sounds as if Stotts collaborated with Lillard and McCollum on making some changes. What scares me is they talk about both Lillard and McCollum playing off ball more and Turner handling the ball more.

"But if there's other ways for me to be affective and other things that I can do to take that pressure off myself and also possibly be more productive, more efficient, then I'm open for that."

How is Joe Freeman so bad at his job? WTF is "affective?"

The editors at the O need some serious help.

Also, who is updating the RC2 twitter feed on the right these days? What's with all the retweets about stuff completely unrelated to the Blazers? Why do I care what Patty Mills thinks about Ginobili's retirement?

I think the RC2 twitter feed is now everything from the accounts that the RC2 account follows.

Affect is dealing with things on the mind, like how it “affects you emotionally”. Effect is more in the realm of physics thats how Ive alwayed been told to differentiate the two words.

Yeah the Lakers game 1! :)

No it all makes sense. THIS is why this place had gone downhill in recent years.

From the olive article:
In one scenario, Lillard and McCollum would both play off the ball and let Turner run the offense, a move that would lessen the burden on the Blazers' stars and offer a new look in a new set.
Not Turner, we need more Balwin1.

The Blazers finished last in the NBA in both assists (19.5 per game)

and fast break points (8.4 per game) last season.

Some of the changes are designed to shore up those weaknesses, others to stimulate new creativity and fresh flow.
More Baldwin1.

"I don't want to overreact to the New Orleans series," Stotts said. "I think we have to look at it objectively with what we did throughout the whole year and go from there."
More Baldwin1.

Change is coming to the Blazers, even if you don't recognize it.
More Baldwin1.

"You go into every season analyzing what you did the previous year, what worked, what didn't work," Stotts said. "You look at some of the things that we did well or didn't do well and try and figure out if we can get better at it."
More Baldwin1.

Sometimes you gotta get your ass kicked to humble yourself to make needed changes.

I hope that it is indeed changes. Because Stott's playbook is so boring and predictable. I hope we see something new this year.

It used to be the opposite. Some of that is personnel, but it's also a lot of complacency. Back in 2013-14 (the surprising 54-win season when we beat HOU in the first round), we had a much more balanced offense, with a lot more player and ball movement. I remember one time, within the span of less than a month, Nic, Aldridge, Wes and Dame all hit game winners. We were winning close games because the opposing defense never knew who was taking the shot. They had to guard everyone on the floor and not just key on one player going iso.

I miss those days...

Frankly, I think this is mostly a roster situation. I think that's why we saw at the start of last year the Blazers trying to post Nurk a lot to create the in-out threats that the team with Lillard/LMA had. Unfortunately, it did not work which is why the offense went back to guard heavy - because, frankly, I would take both Wes and Nic as reliable offensive threats than anyone not named Lillard/CJ from last year's squad.

I hope that we will see a better Nurk this year, maybe some interior offense from ZCo and better scondary perimeter scoring with Curry/GT3/Simons - which will open the offense a lot.

Goddamn

Trent is a MAN at 19...

Clearly he's ready physically to compete at the NBA level. Hopefully, Stotts gives him a chance. We've only seen him in Summer League and college, but he also seems to be very poised on the court for a teenager. I said it on draft night, I thought he was a steal at 37. I hope he proves me right.

The real take away from that article is he plans to be in the line up on opening night:

“I’ll be back,” Harkless told The Athletic. “I’ll be ready.”

Back, he says, for at least one of the Blazers’ five preseason games. And ready, he says, for the season opener Oct. 18 against the Lakers.

“That’s the plan,” Harkless said.

Coach Terry Stotts said Harkless took part in about a third of the team’s first practice Tuesday, but Harkless said he actually took part in closer to 75 percent of the action. Then, in the team’s second practice later that night, he didn’t sit out once.

“And today, I woke up and felt fine,” Harkless said Wednesday. “So I did the same thing today, and even added more.”

So, I guess that answers the question: "Who is going to play small forward?"
