The white male MAGA culture is based on the insecurities of these white dudes and a couple of Karens thinking any woman of mixed parentage or dark skin must be lusting for sexual attentions of their Aryan male supremacy fantasies. To them all women of color must have slept their way to the top...they did this with AOC as well and now Kamala. I'm so fucking sick of these embarrassing assholes pretending to represent American freedoms. They are the ugly Americans. We need to weed them from the fabric of democracy forever.
 
Do you guys really care about these conventions? Do you listen to these politicians talk and think they give one iota about you, me, or anyone that doesn't bring them their ultimate desire of power and money? I know I'm cynical and all that but listening to last night's speeches and I just roll my eyes as both parties do the same fear mongering garbage about the other. My wife was getting annoyed with me because I'm not into the convention and I tried to explain about how I get enough of us vs. them in sports, politics isn't the space for that but it's what it has become and I'm quite frankly tired and bored of it all, especially at the national level.

Do away with the two party monopolies. The committee’s have to much control.

I do actually enjoy them. I’ll always enjoy people getting together to talk shit about Trump. It’s just never gets old.

I also like compare and contrasting the distinguished differences between the two parties. How one prefers democracy and the other is a clown show worshipping a loser like Trump.

My wife is liberal, but doesn’t give a damn about watching anything political other than the daily show so I don’t bore her with watching the DNC. I just watch recaps on YouTube.
 
Tonight's lineup includes both Obamas, Doug Emhoff, Bernie Sanders and Governor Prizker.

One side (republicans) does FAR more fear mongering than the other. Its not even a discussion, it's plain fact.

That being said, I dont listen to politican speeches. Its made for reactions, not proactiveness.
 
I miss Howard Stassen's speech at each Republican convention. Also Hoover always appeared and got sustained cheers, but didn't make a speech.

I've closely followed politics a decade longer than the NBA. A convention was much different then, a meeting to actually make decisions, not canned decisions. There was a lot to do, so it was on TV 5 days not 4, morning to late night, not condensed into prime time. Now, each plank of the platform is pre-decided weeks or months in advance, in a process then called "smoke-filled rooms" (no one smokes anymore; at least half the adults did then; my mother got up to 3 packs per day).

While other states were voting on a plank or issue, delegates from an undecided state would go into a big back room in the football-sized stadium, duke it out verbally, and return to the ongoing vote, supposedly unified. Networks covered those details well, interviewing both sides as they walked back to the crowd.

Both parties are nothing alike....never in history have so many Republicans signed on to support a Democratic candidate. Never has a convicted felon been a party choice for a candidate. It's a false equivalency to have them tied in the bullshit column at this point. Never has a Democratic party been so diverse and so populated with women either. I was bored with the Joe Biden campaign but Harris and Walz have got some fire. I enjoyed the hell out of the convention and I voted for Johnson in the 2016 election ...this year I registered Democrat because they have a more sensible plan and have actual infrastructure legislation and economic progress this time around. I like people with actual convictions that honor the truth. Conservatives need to scrap the GOP and start a new conservative party sans MAGA insanity

Conspiracy monger Jack Posobiec, who invented conspiracy that Hillary Clinton was running a sex trafficking ring from basement of a DC pizzeria that has no basement, and just wrote a book lauded by Don Jr and JD Vance which argues "leftists" are literally not human, has been hanging outside DNC asking women on camera how many abortions they have had.
One woman punked him by saying she is going to have an abortion on stage.
