The media wants Trump to get elected. The dog and pony show gets clicks.

If Trump does get elected I’ll take a little solace in the fact that all the dumb fucks in this country get to reap what they sow.

I don't think that's the case.

I think that WAS the case, and they milked it. Now they've started to realize he might try to shut at least some of them down.

That's why CNN's regained its conscience while the LA Times and Washington Post are are killing editorial decisions to endorse Harris now, which, BTW, should have been done weeks ago.

I listened to CNN to hear one never Trump voter saying he's terrified because he doesn't know who Kamala Harris is and another say she wants to see Harris give more details about her plans before she can give her her vote.

To Voter No. 1, I suggest going to her website or literally watching any one of numerous interviews she's done.

To Voter No. 2, which of the candidates, including third party candidates, have given you detailed plans aboout their agendas? Do you even know what Jill Stein plans to do? Geez, just say you're voting for Trump but you don't want your neighbors in Media, Pennsylvania to know it.

I went to her website to look for her policies on securing the border. The only mention is to sign the "bipartisan" bill into law which continues to allow miliions of unvetted immigrants into the US after it is put in place. Border security is my top issue and she does not address that at all.

What policies do you want to see? What policies do you want to see that were not in the bipartisan border bill?

Soooo, she addressed it but not to your liking? You may not realize it but you contradicted yourself.

You know, Sly. THOSE policies. The ones ... umm ... the ones they want to say they need and are there but can't find so they can justify voting for a guy who failed in his prior term because he had no policies.

He wants a wall!

like a huge ginger bread house wall. Ginger, candy canes and frosting is like kryptonite to illegal aliens.

I'm trying to have a constructive conversation. The border is a problem. That said, of all of the policies that both candidates are proposing this is the only one that has a bill negotiated and drafted by both sides. Once the election is over this seems like a pretty easy thing to get done. This isn't a Democrat or Republican bill, it's bipartisan. Personally I would have a huge problem if Harris wanted to scrap it and do something different.

One that does not higher more agents to process the immigrants faster thru the border.
That bill set a limit for immigrants pre day that can cross. It was still in the millions annually as a number to allow to cross, this to me is unacceptable.
I also dont believe someone should be allowed into the country and then have a court date 2 years later to discuss their entry.
Also need better Vetting system since it is proven that some not so nice people are coming into the country.

I admire your effort, but one must also consider those with whom they're trying to have a constructive conversation. A constructive conversation by definition requires multiple parties that want to discuss an issue in good faith.

The rest of your post is on point.

The bill should’ve been passed long ago. The bill was drafted by some super conservative folks.

Trump talks about how immigrants crossing the border are turning the country into a ‘garbage can’, yet tells his minions to veto it. Speaking volumes about how Trump doesn’t want to make America great again. He wants to be in power and that’s it.

Maybe the most mind boggling part is how these spineless, cuckold puppets within the party are still supporting a guy that they know is a fucktard. And there’s plenty of them.

Here’s the facts about the bill:

With due respect to Sly wanting there to be a constructive conversation with you, do you understand how absolutely xenophobic and ill-informed your post comes off?

I mean, you contradict yourself. You don't want to hire more agents but want a better vetting system, when more agents and immigration judges (which Trump, BTW, refused to assign) are exactly a step in a better vetting process.

We also could get into the whole thing about how a lot of these immigrants come here because we've destabilized their central American governments but don't want to be accountable for that, or that a lot of migrants come into the country legally and then just don't leave, or that the border's aren't open as MAGA disingenuously portrays, or several other things, but I'll just stick to the simple exposition of the flaws of your post for now.

Those are some good points.

I do think more agents are better. Securing and processing. Processing all border traffic faster does benefit both countries. Trump did renegotiate NAFTA, last year we imported more from Mexico than China. This needs to continue. It's in the best financial and security interests of both countries. Delays moving goods across the border hurts this. You want to decrease illegal immigration, promote economic growth inside Mexico. Also more agents on the border processing traffic is how you reduce the flow of illegal things like drugs and human trafficking.

i want a bill that highs agents that help slow the flow of crossings, not more agents to welcome them with open arms.

Agents aren't welcoming them. Agents and judges decide what to do with them.

Between 20K and 60K migrants are turned back at the border every month. Also, attempted entry through our southern border sharply declined at the beginning for 2024.

Why does everyone want to run for president when they are 80?

Mexico is the future for growth but like anything it will need to be managed efficiently and effectively with regards to the border. Both parties for decades have put off immigration reform de globalization with Mexico has a hub will force the issue. Won't be long and we will have American citizens wanting to go to Mexico for jobs. It's happening now but will ramp up.

I know I sit here up in my cozy corner of the US, fat, dumb and happy, but try as hard as I might (and I have truly tried), I cannot for the life of me believe the border is anywhere near the issue it has been made out to be. Immigration has been a "problem" for so many decades it can no longer be seriously labeled a problem. It's like an SNL satire. It's an "issue" to be used by politicians to keep their jobs. Trot out all the statistics you want for the past 60 years (this shit really started in the early 70's) and it's still the same basic issue, nothing more and nothing less. It's only a "problem" because our politicians want it to be. There is no real interest, intent, will or value in solving it. Tightening the boarder will only create another set of issues. As I have pointed out in the past, GW Bush, despite strong bipartisan support for reform, chose to side with his big business buddies who were not willing to give up their source of cheap labor. So he shut reform down. If the border states are truly hurting, blame Bush and his cronies. But as far as I am concerned, the so called border/immigration problem is smoke and mirrors. Just one more way white, racist America can expose it's ugly face. Any youngsters on this board will see this country dealing with the EXACT same bullshit decades from now. The only things that will change are the faces of the politicians......

It seems like immigration to the US in general is a problem for you.

What are you proposing we do to replace the boomers in the workforce once we get immigration below replacement levels? We aren't having enough kids to replace them.

Also, immigrants have far lower crime rates than the US population. Even illegal immigrants. So restricting the flow of immigration actually increases crime rates in the US. Immigration keeps crime rates lower.

I'm not sure what your goal is here? What is your problem with immigration?

The more you demonize someone the more you can exploit them. There is only one job that illegals are coming here and TAKING away from Americans. That is drug dealer. The rest are being given to illegals. Illegals aren't walking into businesses and making employers fire their employees, employers are GIVING jobs to illegals. How many of you have had illegals show up to your house and force you to hire them to do your yardwork? No, people hire them.

Businesses purposely hire illegals because they don't have to pay workers comp, vacation, sick time, retirement, you can exploit them and make more money.

They only jobs they are taking are the ones no one else wants. Picking fruits in orchards, tending crops, helping on farms, working hard jobs in factories, or waiting to get picked up at home depot.

They aren't stealing or taking away anyone's jobs.
