The uneducated laborer used to be the stable of their base. A large majority of them are now Republican.

I personally think it has more to do with the culture war garbage than anything else.

Of course it does. What else would it be? It certainly isn't Trumps detailed policy positions, or his likeability, or his vast experience, or his foreign policy chops, or...

Agreed that turnout is not radically different from prior elections.

But there is an easy explanation for Harris' poor performance...

I understand what you are trying to imply, but I don't think it works.
Why aren't there ??? above Trump's 2020 vote count also? It is also higher than any of the other years.
Fact is, a whole lot of very fine people, on both sides, were motivated to vote in 2020 as compared to 2012, 2016, and 2024.

In PA, the ad I saw or heard most was about Harris and our U.S. Senator letting "men play girls' sports" and taking scholarships from our girls, or Harris using tax dollars for criminal inmates to receive gender affirming care.

I've got to be honest, I can't believe there are many cases of either of these. I know there aren't any men playing girls' sports ... there probably aren't even that many transitioning girls playing girls' sports.

For that to be the big ad leading into the presidential election says a lot, to me, about what the Republicans thought would resonate with Americans, and it looks like they were right.

Anyway, I've taken up enough of everyone's bandwidth on this topic. Like someone else said, I'm done with OT boards and news and politics. I need to think of my own health and this stuff just doesn't make me feel good about life and the world. So maybe I'll see some of you in the game threads, maybe not, just see how it goes.

Sorry to pour salt in your wounds. But there's projected to be a 20 point swing in electoral votes from Democrat strongholds to Republican in 2030. The 2032 election will basically be like spotting the Republicans a state like Pennsylvania.

I saw that earlier today. Definitely odd. If someone has a logical explanation for how Biden got so many more votes than Obama, Hillary and Harris, I'm all ears.

I think that is wonderful. Rather than deport our illegal immigrants, we should just ship them all to Massachusetts. Lefties love illegal immigrants! Just look at how they took them in at Martha's Vinyard (well, for 24 hours anyway, before they shipped them out of town).

NIMBY!

Never supported Maga, never will

I'm glad. But the folks saying Biden isn't too old. Let him run. He'll beat Trump all the while the party was hiding his cognitive decline deserve the blame. All the people who looked the other way and said yeah they're enabling the murder of thousands but, but, Trump is the real danger. All of that nonsense is MAGA on the left.

Folks were treating me like the bad guy here when I was ringing alarm bells. But so many of you thought you knew better. I take no glee in saying this, but maybe the country and the Democratic party needed a huge punch in the mouth. They certainly deserve it.

Some of us have morals. It's not about letting Trump win. It's about not voting for a genocide enabler. You can be upset all you want but most of the country felt the same.

But most of the country DID vote for a genocide enabler, just a different and very likely worse one.

You surely do understand what Trump telling Bibi to 'finish the job' means... don't you?

Im going to have to agree with you on this.

About which parts specifically? What potential gains do you think electing Trump will produce for you?
Fuck Trump, I just think the DNC helped Trump win twice by anointing one particular candidate and in 2016 circumveting Bernie who would have beaten Trump, imo.

You didn't vote for Trump then, did you? Considering he's literally implored Israel to "finish what they started" with Palestine...

It’s not about Bernie Bro being scorned. It’s about letting the Democratic process play out as it’s intended.

Fuck with that process and you’ll turn off even more supporters.

The Presidential race isn’t supposed to be about the warm and fuzzies.

I VOTED TO SAVE MY OWN LIFE NOT BECAUSE OF THE MOTHER FUCKING WARM AND FUZZIES.

I’m sorry Kamala “turned you off.” I will haunt you all when I’m dead.

I don't think anybody is suggesting anybody should have voted for anybody other than Harris. Just the process that gave us Harris or Biden didn't give us the best candidate.

You understand that not voting for one is equivalent to voting for the other yes?

You know how a seesaw works right? No weight on one side is the same as the equivalent weight added to the other side? Right?

People DEFINITELY suggested not voting AND are telling me this outcome is deserved, in this thread today, hiding behind “not voting for Trump” like there’s any practical difference.

I meant anybody that you're replying to in this specific conversation in this thread. I think it's just a conversation on what we could potentially do differently to get more engagement. Or what mistakes were made.

I'm depressed as hell about this result. But the Bernie BS definitely cost the Dems a lot of support.

Their insistence on relying almost solely on fear of Trump as their strategy the last 3 presidential elections has also been a disaster.

I agree that they shouldn't have to do much to beat Trump. It should almost be a default. But that clearly isn't the way things are.
