Not that I think it's a good call, but I think what the referee saw was that as the ball-handler was reaching the half-court line, it appeared like he subtly changed his arm angle as though he was going to pass, but continued to dribble instead, and the referee called him for traveling/palming.
 
Blazers need to continue to win as Utah keeps winning due to their easy schedule

There was never a time that he even appeared to carry the ball.

That call was a travesty.

I agree. But unless you think the referee was on the take for specifically that call, he clearly saw something (in his mind) that made him blow the whistle, and that's my guess as to what it was. I wasn't defending the call.

If he thought he palmed the ball for that he made the incorrect travel signal then.

Not necessarily. Sometimes it is traveling and not carrying.

But in those instances it's because the player places their hand underneath the ball while simultaneously taking more than two steps.

That said, that certainly didn't occur on that play.

I don't know what the Hell he saw TBH.

I don't know why this shooting thing is even a narrative. People never gave Shaq shit for not shooting. Ginnis has identical stats while protecting the basket as well and even adding playmaking to that. His defense last night in the fourth quarter was unbelievable. Was guarding the rim against Embiid while flying out at JJ on the same possession multiple times.
