Does anyone else think we will see both #1 seeds fall in the first round this season? I think OKC can beat the Warriors and I think the Hawks can lose if they get matched with a team like the Pacers or Heat.
It would be a wonderful upset since I belive we will be the second placed team in the west. Knocking out both GS and ATL could surely give us HCA throughout the playoffs

GS will lose in first round. Mark it down.

Hawks will win in first round. They're stacked and well coached. I honestly think they'll reach the Finals. Bulls & Cavs are overrated. Indiana is for real but I think they'll get the 7 seed. Indy/Atl ECF with Atlanta winning.

All marked down. You ready to own up if any of this doesn't happen? No excuses.

I find it hysterical the amount of whining about the refs over at clutchfans. I thought there was whining over here about it? LOL. They don't have Harden in a game, and all of a sudden they don't get any calls... I don't think that's a coincidence.

But but but Marc Gasol is MVP! Marc Gasol's as good as Olajuwon!!!

You are an idiot, you didn't refute anything I said.
The only stat you put up was a career high for 1 player who was 3rd or the 4th best player on his team that was stacked, yet they never advanced to the finals after the 91 season. MJ or not the Pistons were good with a great coach. Learn the history of the game before you talk to me, cause otherwise you become a laughing stalk.
You brought up The Dream. You brought up The Admiral. You brought up Laimbeer. Yet you still failed when I pointed out STATS.
You don't even understand the concept of what I meant by the first NBA game ever... Yet other posters DID.
You don't even read what you said in your own posts. You're ignorant.
I never said Gasol was just as good as The Dream. Learn to read you tool.
I may have misread the part where you said championships. But that's it.
You haven't read shit I posted or refuted anything you can't.
The stats are on my side, the Winning of games are on my side, minus Rings for a player who wasn't the best player on his team being in Laimbeer.
The only reason why I saw this post is because I do read the forums while not logged in.
Guess that will have to stop with people like you who can't argue for shit, and act like children.
People told you, you were wrong and to stop. Yet you continue.
I'm in my 20's but I'm more mature than you will ever be.. Simply because I stopped.. Yet you continued to act like a child.
Grow up.

You say one thing about the Blazers as to why a loss doesn't matter.
Then you use the same argument others are making as why a team sucks.

Take a logic class, learn to argue, then post.
You didn't even realize equivalencies was a word, you salty troll.

Mavericks guard Monta Ellis will likely opt out of his deal this summer, according to Basketball Insiders ... Steve Nash admits he may never play again ... Heat also interested in JaVale McGee ... I know the Steve Nash news is big time and a shocker to everyone.

Grizzlies getting blown out at home by Jazz. Where are you, honkicracker? Told you the Grizzlies hate success. Chance to gain a game on GS and they blow it: Marc Gasol isn't MVP. Overrated scrub who wouldn't make All Star game if stupid fans didn't vote him in. What a joke. I'll be surprised if Grizzlies get out of the first round.
Jazz have been ballin since the deadline

5-1 with wins over Por, San Anton, Memphis

Obvious trolls are obvious.

For all your maturity and "logic classes". This post should have been easily avoidable.

The personal insults on this post is record breaking!

Okay, so here we go with my take on your post, without the insults of course.

1.) The bringing up of the Admiral, Shaq and Hakeem is comparing an MVP center that has already won that award. Gasol doesn't even come close to them. In fact, Gasol doesn't even come close to Lambeer statistically.

2.) Your argument on Lambeer... Firstly, Lambeer was the third, maybe even 4th option on that championship piston team, yet statistically he put up better numbers than Gasol.

3.) Gasol isn't even the best scorer on the Griz. He's actually 3rd on the team in scoring. Yes he is their best defender, but it's been over 30 years since a player won the MVP award on defense alone.

In the end, the insult was overkill, but I actually understand why you did it. Kingspeed was egging you on and I think that was extremely childish. I would recommend that you do not stoop to his level because you are well above that. I know because I've seen you post without being emotional...

my 2 cents

He's a homer what do you expect

So....just so I understand.

A player has great stats but his team loses = he's a bum. eg Westbrook
A player has decent stats and his team wins = he's a bum. eg Gasol

So, if players are judged by neither team success nor individual stats - what are they judged by?

Exactly. He's a homer. Not objective whatsoever. For God sakes he has the Blazers logo tatted up he's in it for life on the homerism

Where to start? The word you used was "equivalences." Look up that previous post of yours. You did not say "equivalencies." Learn the English language please.

You are in your twenties and never saw Laimbeer play so you don't know what you're talking about. You're just staring at numbers.

Gobert destroyed Marc Gasol last night and you didn't even respond to that. There was nothing for you to say. Marc Gasol got his usual 8 rebounds while Gobert got 20+ rebounds. Marc Gasol is soft and doesn't do the hard work it takes to rebound the ball and help his team win, Grizzlies have only won 5 of last 10. You didn't respond to what I said about the Grizzlies choking on their chance to catch the Warriors. The Warriors opened the door and the Grizzlies decided to get blown out by the Jazz at home. They hate success and will never win anything meaningful.

I'm 40 years old and don't go around calling people a child. That's what insecure people in their 20s do. I just have fun talking about basketball here. Lighten up.

This is just silly. In Laimbeer's best season, his PER was 3 points less than Gasol's this year. Laimbeer got more rebounds, while Gasol has more points, assists, blocks, and steals. Not to mention that he played in a much faster paced era (like 10% more possessions in 83-84 than 13-14), and there was nobody else on the Pistons that rebounded (his best years were pre-Rodman), whereas Gasol plays alongside Zach Randolph, whose total rebound percentage is better than Laimbeer's. Oh, and in the years the Pistons were winning conference titles, Laimbeer averaged 13/10. Most certainly not better than Gasol.

Basically, comparing their rebounding numbers is silly considering the circumstances, and claiming that Laimbeer's numbers were better than Gasol's is simply unsupportable.

Wow, honkicracker deleted all his previous posts in our discussion. Embarrassed by his immature behavior no doubt.

PER doesn't account for defense and it doesn't account for his hard fouls and how he intimidated the other team and got under their skin. He was the most annoying player in the history of the game. I assume you're another young one who didn't watch him play. You're just staring at your advanced numbers. The reason the Laimbeer discussion happened is because I said I would pick Laimbeer on my team over Marc Gasol. I stand by that.

For bustin' a dudes ass leaving out the letter "i" in his word, you misspelled intimidated.

;-)

Eric, that "you're too young to understand" argument is simply weak. For the record, I'm in my mid-30's, and I saw Laimbeer play (although later in his career). I despised him.

However, I was responding to Mags' claim that Laimbeer put up superior numbers, not that he was a more impactful teammate. It's important to keep arguments in context.

That's not going to happen.

That's not going to happen.

But when people are reasonable, it should. And when it doesn't, I'm perfectly willing to call him out on it. Mags has readily admitted error in similar situations; I'd like to thing KS should be able to do the same.

But once again, I will reiterate on how I believe Gasol is not an MVP. This is by a landslide to those

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/laimbbi01.html
Laimbiers best season was 1985-86
16.6 PPG, 13.1 rebounds, 49% FG, 18 PER

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gasolma01.html
Marc's best season is this season
18 ppg, 8 rebounds, 49% FG, 20 PER

Now here is the skinny... Laimbeer never won an MVP...

So how about we compare apples to apples here. It is definitely arguable that Laimbeer performed comparable to Gasol, while Gasol is the second option and Laimbeer was the 5th. Hard to argue if you ask me.

But the REEEEEAAAAL argument is compare Gasol to Shaq, Robinson, and Hakeem... It's a fucking joke to think Gasol is even remotely MVP worthy...

This is silly alright.

Marc Gasol isn't competing against Laimbeer or Robinson or any retired center for MVP of THIS SEASON.

I'm not making any argument, other than the arguments comparing Gasol to past winners and losers of the MVP award is irrelevant.

Compare him to the value of Westbrook and Harden and Lebron and Aldridge and anyone else in the running THIS SEASON.

Please.
