I like David Aldridge (good last name) but BOY he can prattle on. And I had the Grizzlies missing the playoffs, while he has them making the finals. Still, I hope he's right about #13.

Isiah Thomas just said he has the Pistons at the 4 seed in the east.

He has a good argument, there is a lot of athleticism and talent on that roster.

Dark Horse: LAC if CP3 goes down for any length. He's a rental, but Doc's comfortable with him, he fits the mold of facilitating/defense, and it'd only be for 6 months or so.

There was last year, too. Everything depends on Stan Van Gundy. He's very good. Is he that good? I must say Brandon Jennings was HUGELY improved in preseason - if he can redeem himself then there's definite hope, especially given how shitty the East is.

David Aldridge says yes:

Partly because he's considered damaged goods around the league until he shows he can get through a season healthy, partly because he seems to have a good relationship with coach Brad Stevens, partly because just about every team in the league already has a quality point guard, partly because Danny Ainge has so many assets in place through 2017 he doesn't have to have a fire sale for his star guard. (Boston could be a particularly nasty thorn in the side to any team that doesn't get an extension done with its Class of 2011 rookie by the end of the week.)

That's the reason he stays - the only place that makes remote sense is Sacramento, and he's already said he will refuse to re-sign if he ends up there. Of course, Chris Webber said the same thing...

I think a major dark horse for Rondo could be the Bucks. All that team really needs is a consistent point guard who can play defense and push the pace when needed. They really aren't a horrible team on paper.

They really like Brandon Knight, and he improved a lot for them last year. They also picked up Kendall Marshall.

Knight and Rondo could coexist though. Knight is more of a scorer and Rondo is good enough defensively to guard 2s.

Duncan acts like he's never fouled anybody in his life, most of their team flops and Pop is an ass that gets away with it because he wins.

Anthony Davis will retire as one of the All time best if he keeps healthy and improving like this.

The Pelicans are the Blazers of old, amazing talent but can't stay healthy. If they can do that this year then they are a huge dark horse in the west.

The way the Pelicans are playing the passing lanes in this game is playoff quality. Their help defense hasn't been impressive yet.
