Olynyk led the Celtics with 19pts in a thrashing of the Nets.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Around the NBA season Thread

Aren't Lopez and Kaman enough? Lopez is a much better rebounder than Hibbert.

Lopez is not a much better rebounder than Hibbert. At least not based on their career numbers.

Lopez is a career 13.4% Total rebound percentage.

Hibbert is a 14.4% total rebound percentage.

Hibbert had a bad year last year, but he had two straight seasons above 16% in that category. Lopez has never been higher than 15.6%

Last season Lopez had a career high of 8.5 rebounds per game. Before that his high was 5.6. Hibbert on the other hand has averaged over 8 rebounds per game twice. I don't think Lopez is a much better rebounder, or even a better rebounder. They're pretty close currently, but historically Hibbert has been the better rebounder.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Around the NBA season Thread

Hibbert with a major push for Jimmy Butler this summer would make the Blazers into real contenders - defense, defense, defense!

I don't think we could afford both. Not unless we traded for one of them.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Around the NBA season Thread

Hibbert shuts down the paint. His numbers prove that - even with his down year last year his DRtg was beastly.

He even got in a little scuffle with Garnett towards the end of the game. Atta kid.

I find it hard not to cheer for the hornets. Also their court is easily #1 in the world.

I just love the way they play basketball. They play hard on both ends every play and don't really rely on "Hero" ball to much.

Which is why, more than ever, Oklahoma City absolutely needs to add a hired gun alongside Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka. And that’s where Pistons big man Greg Monroe comes in.

Monroe, 24, should already be locked into a long-term restricted free agent deal worth somewhere in the range of $11 million to $15 million annually. In an exclusive conversation with Sheridan Hoops, Monroe confirmed an offer was on the table to stay in Detroit for the long haul.

However, the fit and price weren’t right for Monroe’s camp. He instead opted to accept his qualifying offer, a seldom-used clause in the CBA that allows players to enter unrestricted free agency after their rookie contract expires.

So while Monroe is an impending unrestricted free agent, he is only costing Detroit $5.48 million this season – making him one of the best bargains in the NBA.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Around the NBA season Thread

So the Thunder would now add a 3rd max player (after this year) or would they just keep him for this season?

If they wanted a 3rd max player who can score, but plays little D, they should have just kept Hardin.

http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fa...ck-beverley-strains-hamstring-will-not-return

Rockets guard Patrick Beverley suffered a strained hamstring in Wednesday's season opener against the Jazz and will not return, the team announced.

Beverley played 31 minutes before suffering the injury, and the Rockets enjoyed a double-digit lead late in the fourth quarter, so there was no need to push the guard regardless of the extent of the injury. He scored seven points on 3 of 6 shooting while recording two rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Here we go... LeBron is HOME.

he has a court in his house... but they are playing in an arena... not a home.

Cavs are going to be pretty fun to watch. Those outlets passes from Love to LeBron and Kyrie are going to prove to be lethal

Why are our only outlet-passing bigs guys who aren't good enough to be rotation players?

I was watching and watching last night waiting for Meyers or TRob to get off the bench and remembered that Meyers was out due to illness. But it didn't stop me from thinking that it wouldn't surprise that neither of those two would be rotational players. But more third stringers.

Love 12 points 7 rebounds 3 assists in first quarter

Yup - those are the only two guys who will even attempt an outlet pass. Actually, Kaman probably will - he understands the finer points of the game. But a HUGE reason we don't fast break is because LMA/Lopez hold the ball after grabbing the rebound and then shuffle it to Nic/Lillard - the whole rebound-and-move-upcourt process takes 4-8 seconds.
