If the Jazz made 22 3 pointer against the Lakers (50 total in 2 games) what would they do against the Blazers? Yikes

Well, it tells us that the Hornets won't be a cake walk for us.

I'm not basing anything off of one game.

Philly was 10-1 or something at home when we came to their house and without dame cj or nurk came and whooped their ass.

But it was one game.

Read today the Warriors are signing Jeremy Lin...he's a guard we should've picked up cheap for the bench..Luke Ridnour type player. Smart...not flashy pt guard

the remaining strength of schedule has been updated

first, the SOS of games played put Portland at 22

or 23

or 24:

ESPN's RPI says Portland is 8th best and has overachieved their expected wins by 3 (those Philly games and Laker game I'm guessing)

now, tankathon has updated based upon all remaining games:

this doesn't account for back-2-back's and Portland has 11, meaning more than half of their game are in B2B sets. Portland's schedule is jammed with 41 games left. I'd imagine the Spurs and Memphis are even worse

Utah, if they stay healthy, have the inside track on #1 seed

Utah more than any team in the league has the same core it had before...they didn't change much....chemistry is a powerful thing ...I think we'll get there

I'm sorry but the title still goes through the Lakers. They've played once, last night, and the Lakers weren't just without two starters like we've been. One of those starters was Anthony Davis. Utah might end up with the number one seed but they aren't going to beat a healthy Lakers team in a seven game series. We'll see how this post ages.

Granted, Lin's game has evolved a bit over the years, but that's pretty much the exact opposite of his style of play.

Ant simons Riverman. Blazers are HEAVILY invested in him

Utah plays defense and passes the ball. Two things that our team is allergic to.

When your starters have been together long enough they can play defense on a string and know where to pass a ball because they know where a player likes it.....when we had LA Batum Wes Dame and Rolo we had that....and we were a top 5 defensive team.....we're starting guys who are just now getting up to NBA speed. and Roco and DJJ haven't settled into a groove at all yet...work in progress with bad injury luck...we'll get through it....no training camp to speak of was a setback but even that training camp we had had different guys playing together...we're essentially building a backup roster on the fly without much practice between games....

The LMA team was six years ago Riverman. The NBA has changed DRASTICALLY since then. You guys can't keep bringing that team up. The team was different, the NBA was different.

Here are the top teams for three pointers attempted in 2014-2015

And here are the top teams now

There wasn't a single team averaging over 40 three pointers per game in 2014-2015, and now there are four teams averaging over 40 per game. The NBA has changed and unfortunately we are one of the worst teams in the league at defending the three pointer.

I only brought them up because they were a core that had solid chemistry without changes to the starting lineup....and that chemistry makes you a better passing and defending team. Like the Jazz now seem to have...they had an identity as a team...we've had 9 starting lineups this season already I believe....the best defensive team in the league for years was the Memphis Grizzlies with Marc Gasol.....how many championships did they win? It takes time to build a championship that can repeat with the same guys but it also takes some luck and talent

You can stay around for a long time... but If the parts in play aren't complimentary, then it's just longevity, not success.

You need it to actually be cohesive to make the impact, not just the fact they have been around, in this instance.

That's good to see. Good for Mario. Just couldn't live up to his lottery hype.

I hope that's the kind of reception we see for the new coach when the day comes that Stotts is finally gone...:breakdance::cheers:

that is pretty revealing. 24 teams today shoot more three's than the top team from 6 years ago and 28 current teams shoot more three's than the 2nd place team

the median number of 3ptFGA's in 2014-15 was 22.4. The median this season is 34.8, which is 12.4 more. That's amazing. In 2014-15, the Blazers were 3rd in the league averaging 27.2 three's. This season they are 2nd averaging 42.3 which is 15.1 more.

in Dame's rookie season the median number of 3ptFGA's was 19.5, which is 15.3 less than now. Portland averaged 19.1 fewer three's that season than they average now

Miami Heat 2019-20

How did we beat the Sixers... twice?

The Sixers are an old school team with their best player at the center spot. Simmons can't shoot the three. Apparently they're the one team we can defend.

How did we beat the Sixers... twice?
We're nowhere close to as bad as you think. I want changes to this team. I believe we are squandering the talent we do have but that does not negate the point that we have a lot of talent. The difference in the team that beat the Sixers twice and the team we've been rolling out lately is that for the last five games we only have one player on the team over 6'7". That's really bad. Giles had been playing virtually every minute that Kanter didn't since Nurk went down. Giles isn't great but just having length in the game on the post makes such a difference. Look at his rebounds per 36 since Nurk's been gone and realize what kind of impact that has.

Again, there is absolutely no excuse for why we haven't signed a big to a 10 day. I actually don't think we would have to apply for a hardship exception but if we did that would take the league office about a minute to approve due to our injuries. So Neil has no excuse and getting a top G League level big in here to play those 12-18 minutes would mean the world to this team's rebounding and overall defense. Since we haven't had two bigs we beat a terrible OKC team without their best player. Then we pulled out a win by the skin of our teeth on a Dame supernova performance against the Pels. Then we've lost three straight.

I imagine that you won't see missing Giles and not signing a barely competent big to a 10 day as the determining factor but if you don't see that, you're dead wrong.

Im thinking with a healthy decent Nurk, and CJ at near his early season form, we could surprise come playoffs. The Jazz and Lakers healthy would be trouble, unless we are shooting threes at a high percentage, protecting the rim and some help from an improved bench. The rest of the teams in the West 3-8 are close imo. Whomever his healthy and hot can surprise. Thats what happen to Miami last year and I still think they will be rolling right around playoffs and could again surprise.

Nuggets loose again to wizards and sweep the nuggets! Hahahaha Hahahaha. Spurs Clippers suns mavricks all lost . We beat lakers tmrw we back
