Why does race have to be involved? :ghoti: haha, i know who you're talking about. :)
I didnt even notice what I assume is my phone autocorrecting that. Ment Blake of course lol

Williams and Augustin could be fallback options as well, but they could also fill a need for backcourt perimeter shooting ability, even if Harris returns.

Wonder what Augustin will go for this summer? BAE?

I think Blazers are better off waiting. I think they rushed to sign Kaman when Hawes said no when they could have gotten the same talent or slightly less for a lot less money. Let's wait to see what happens with Augustin and Sessions who are both better than Mo. I swear, if the Blazers end up with Kaman and Mo this off season, I'm going to puke watching that second unit again. I don't mind Kaman, but Mo destroys the ball movement in the second unit which in turn stunts the growth of guys like Barton, CJ and T-Rob.

Just say no to Mo. Please?

Name some names that they could have gotten if they waited instead of Kaman. There's not a lot of back up centers that are FA's this year.

Yeah i would like to see that list as well. I know Kaman was on our list last summer, (This forum's) not sure what the options are this year, seems like there are less.

You're right. There aren't that many FA centers out there -
Andray Blatche. 27 yrs old, 11.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.5 bpg, 47.6 fg%
Jason Smith. 28 yrs old, 9.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 0.9 bpg, 46.5 fg%
Jermaine O'Neal. 35 yrs old, 7.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 0.9 bpg, 50.4 fg%

I'd say after Hawes, Kaman stacks up pretty good -
Spencer Hawes. 26 yrs old, 13.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.2 bpg, 45.6 fg%
Chris Kaman. 32 yrs old, 10.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.0 bpg, 50.9 fg%

He's gonna get more than that bro. Pushing 3.5 mil seemed too low even.

How do you know that? Nobody seemed very interested in him last year and he signed with us for 2.5 mil, the interest in him won't necessarily increase this year.

Last year there wasn't any teams with enough cap room to sign him. Currently, there is sooo many able to sign him. I would be surprised if he signs with someone less than 3.5.

Since he took less than the MLE, by about half, EVERY single team had the ability and money to sign him last season.

The list for centers isn't extensive, but it was always my understanding that they would pick bpa. The deal with Kaman isn't horrid, though we did pay more for him this year than the Lakers did last year. It's a one year deal for all intensive purposes. I think I would have rather had I. Thomas at MLE than Kaman, though of course, the number of years would be longer. I'd love to get Augustin still if possible though, or Jameer Nelson or Sessions.

I would've rather signed Jason Smith with the MLE. He is a legit 7 foot player and actually more accurate than LaMarcus on long two point jumpers. I'm hoping Kaman exceeds my expectations.

Why did it have to be a center?

Nelson is worth more than the MLE... Session could be had for the BAE, Thomaa was getting more than the MLE.

It's about being realistic, BPA or not.

Fine. BPA. make a list that would sign for the MLE. Not Thomas, Not Nelson. There literally is not a lot of people. People need to live in reality, it's much better for the sanity.

I would still be surprised if he gets anything less than 3.5 mil this summer. Even if he wasn't wanted last summer.

I'd be pretty surprised if Nelson gets more than the MLE but I guess we'll see. I hope we get Sessions and not resign Mo. PLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEEEE!

I'd love Sessions until I remember he can't shoot the 3. Thats big for me I want a point guard who is an above average 3 shooter.

I'm with you. He had an injury last year, so there's a bit or risk there. But I like his game and he's a relatively young player. It looks like NY is looking at him and may offer him their tax-MLE.

A legitimate concern, but I think Sessions' ability to run a team and his court vision is good enough to overlook this 3 ball. He would make CJ, Will and T-Rob much better. Mo would kill those guys on the offensive end of the floor. If not Ramon, I like Augustin a lot, Jameer, even Beno maybe.

I don't think Mo would have gone to the Mavs if we had actually offered him a deal in the range that he thinks he deserves.

Pretty sure I've read a quote from Haynes that Mo is looking for multiple years rather than money right now. I think 3/10 gets it done

There are other point guards I would rather sign with that money, honestly.

Of the available backup pt guards, Luke Ridnour is the most reliable, consistent and smart pt guards available but he'd have to take less money than he got last season.

Mo definitely had his moments with us last season, but aside from that late trey in Game 4 against the Rockets, he wasn't very effective in the postseason and he's past his prime. I'd really only be comfortable with a one-year deal for Williams.

No way. The team loves Mo and that's not much to pay for a 10/5 guy off the bench. He was our only guy that produced on the bench last year.

All the pgs available have warts. Mo fits stotts system fine. The other one that would fit his system is Blake. Nelson too, but it sounds like nelson doesn't want to leave Florida

But we don't have the ability (ie, cap space or exception) to sign any other point guards for 3/10. Only with Mo's non-bird exception can we even offer that to him.

With our cap so clean for next season I'd be hesitant to give Mo a deal beyond one season as well. Udrih, Ridnour, or Blake would not be much if even any of a downgrade.

What are Mo's options?
- Brooklyn. Will lose Livingston to Golden State. They're over the tax, so they only have the tax-MLE available ($3.3M), and no BAE.
- Charlotte. They need a backup to Kemba Walker. They own the Bird rights to Luke Ridnour. They just drafted a PG, Semaj Christon (55th pick). They will have plenty of CAP space. I wouldn't be surprised if they went after Chamers or Isiah Thomas.
- Chicago. They need a backup to Derrick Rose. They signed DJ Augustin after the start of last year, so I don't think they own his non-bird rights. They can use the MLE, BAE or vet minimum. They'll be close to the CAP, so their options are limited.
- LA Clippers. They just lost Collison to Sacramento. They used their MLE on Hawes (ugh, who would want him?). They have the BAE and vet min available.
- Memphis. They only have Conley. Beno Udrih is a FA. They will be close to the TAX so their options are limited. They have the MLE, BAE and vet min available.
- Miami. They only have Cole. Chalmers is a free agent. They own his Bird rights. Depending upon what happens with the big 3, they will be close to the TAX so their options are limited. They have the MLE, BAE and vet min available.
- Milwaukee. They have Brandon Knight and Nate Wolters. Sessions is a free agent. They own his early bird rights. They're over the CAP and probably won't want to spend to much on a 3rd point guard.
- Orlando. They waived Jameer Nelson. They drafted Elfird Payton. They have tons of CAP space and lots of options. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Isaiah Thomas or Chalmers end up there with some of their CAP space.
- Portland. We only have Lillard. We own Williams non-bird rights and can re-sign him without using the BAE (so it can be available next year).

9 teams are in need of a second point guard.

How many solid FA PG candidates are still out there?
- Chalmers
- Nelson
- Augustin
- Sessions
- Ridnour
- Brooks
- Blake
- Farmar
- Williams
- Udrih
- Stuckey
- Hinrich
- Bayless
- Isiah Thomas (restricted - but Orlando and Charlotte may choose to go after him)

With 9 teams looking to strengthen their PG position, and over 10 potential players available, I think the market is pretty weak for Mo. My guess is we resign him using our non-bird rights, or use him in a sign and trade. If we resign him, we'll probably build in options for the second year so we can maintain our CAP flexibility.

I'd be pretty surprised if Nelson gets more than the MLE but I guess we'll see. I hope we get Sessions and not resign Mo. PLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEEEE!

I soooo agree... NO MO MO!!!
