Sounds like the perfect stretch 4.

We're building a trend here with drafting seniors. Did he graduate too? Dame/CJ/Patty, etc all graduated.

Like....willing defender

No like...feet in unnatural position on shot. Will hinder pump fakes and better chance of shot blocked

Kid on the left knows what's up

Gotta toot my own horn. I was just about the only person to mention Layman as a possibility in the "2nd round possibilities" thread.

Looking specifically at seniors, AJ Hammons (who has been mentioned in this thread) definitely intrigues me. Jake Layman seems to be a fascinating combination of jump-shooting, defense, and athleticism. Dorian Finney-Smith may just be a workout wonder, but he's definitely worth a look.

I love Harkless but this draft pick could be a hedge for him possibly leaving in free agency. Hope I am wrong.

Anyone have a good link or two to see what he is all about? Found a couple things, but not real in game stuff or not recent.

Thanks in advance

He has that Kaman spin, scoop shot at the rim and a nice shooting touch from midrange..he's an above avg help defender...fast.

Well, he's white.

Not sure of those comparisons. Both of those guys are decent creators off the bounce--- Hayward especially.

A guy I think he compares favorably to is Victor Claver. Or maybe even a skinnier Sullinger.

Geez...seeing these pictures, he sure seems like a goofy looking MFer.

Seems like more of a Meyers replacement to me. I compare him to John Leuer.
I don't think he compares to Meyers in position and role personally but I would be very happy that if we have to lose a player that it is Meyers instead of Harkless so I am on board with you in that sense!

If he was from Europe he might have been a 1st round pick. Most of these 60 guys are projects, even the #1 over all pick has a major flaw in his game. Layman will never be a starter, but I will say he does has an effortless stroke from 3 pt range, and he is athletic. So I think he has a shot at sticking.

any of you tweeters see anything tweeted by current players about Layman?

Not.

Swayed.

He'll be out of the league within three years.

I'm putting this here so if I'm wrong all you divas can bump it and tell me I was wrong.

Yeah that's what was said about Luke Babbitt and he is still pulling down an NBA paycheck.

He might be out of ther league in 3 years but that beats Diez who still won't be in the league by then.

I think the most important thing we can know about Layman right now is based on the fact that we didn't have a pick in this draft. That means that Neil didn't settle for Layman; he targeted him. This wasn't a "highest-rated player left" situation. Neil made a point to get him. Gave up an asset and cash to acquire him. Paul Allen isn't going to toss 1.2 million dollars out to get a player they don't expect anything out of.
