There are those procrastinators who have to go to their county seat or designated drop off location because they took too long to drop it in the mail.

My point was that you don't have to wait in line to vote:) I took mine to my local library.

Shockingly easy to vote here in Boise. Took me longer to decide on the snacks to buy to help fund the local grade school.

Snacks? Buying votes to influence the local school elections?

That's subversive to the whole demoratic process.

It was certainly subversive to the dieting process. Bought a loaf of banana bread and 4 biscottis to share with the wife and in-laws. Scrummy.

The City of Alexandria is notorious for having problems with voting, especially on the south and west side of the City. By contrast, voting in Arlington couldn't be easier.

Yeah we are on the south side... no major problems although there was one thing that occurred while we were there. A girl voted and when she ran it through the machine she says the counter didn't change. I guess they can check the numbers when they close to make sure they match the number of people who check in match. So they asked her to fill out the back up ballot (forgot what they are called) and said they will be able to tell if it didn't work and count hers then.

I'm registered to vote but not in the county I live in now. Probably wasn't a good idea to register right before I moved to college.

I think I have an absentee ballot at home but I guess its too late to fill those out? Some people have told me I can have someone at home fill it out for me and drop it off somewhere but I dunno if that's legit.

Forgive me for asking a retarded question -- around what time do we find out who the winner is??

Not sure what the answer is but if memory serves it takes a several days/weeks unless the election is a landslide victory.

Diebold decided last Thursday. *looks around suspiciously*

We'll all be notified between 5-7 pm this evening.

Here's a handy little guide:

Keep in mind this is EST (Eastern Socialists Time), as it is published by Pravda, er, the NYT:
FIRST BITE The suspense starts in Indiana. Most polls close at 6 p.m. and others at 7. Indiana is a ruby red state where Mr. Obama has been running closely with Mr. McCain. Be wary of results that do not include Gary, a city with a substantial African-American population. If Mr. Obama wins it, Indiana could be the canary in the coal mine predicting disaster ahead for Mr. McCain.
APERITIF Also at 7 p.m., polls close in Virginia and Georgia, and polls close in most of Florida and New Hampshire.
All eyes will quickly veer to Virginia, which Mr. Obama has labored to win. If he succeeds in the former capital of the Old Confederacy, he will most likely do exceedingly well the rest of the night. Subtracting Virginia from the Republican column would give Mr. McCain very few routes to 270 electoral votes.
New Hampshire is less predictive. But it would be a bad sign for Mr. McCain if he cannot capture these mavericks, whom he has been courting for eight years.

Anyone have any early exit poll results?

You mean the ones that showed John Kerry was elected our 43rd President? I think we can all wait until the polls close across the country. I actually believe that no results should be reported until the polls close in Hawaii.

Yeah, exit polls are highly inaccurate. I'll still want to see them, because I'm impatient for news. ;)

The only suspense in this election is how many senate and house seats the republicans gain or lose.

Out of curiosity, how many posters voted yes on measure 61: mandatory prison sentences?

I voted no on 61.

Considering Matt Drudge hasn't posted any early exit polls and it's already 3 PM, I would assume that Obama is doing extremely well.

Please let California Measure 8 fail. No on 8! No on 8! That passing scares me more than McCain winning. I'm not even sure if I'll ever get married but it shouldn't be illegal.

Apparently CBS is going to call the race for Obama either after the polls close at 5 in Indiana, or 6 in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, etc.

Yeah, that's the election night issue I'm the most interested in. I deeply hope California does the right thing and rejects Prop 8.

Should I go with the Beef Stroganoff or the Double Cheeseburger for dinner? That is the important decision of today.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews will be in MSNBC's election room tonight, but David Gregory and Chuck Todd will be directing the conversation?

I might go get ripped before I vote. Do you think they'll care?

Depends on if you show up today or tomorrow wanting to vote.

Unless he's this guy.

And then he'll get campaign ads targeted straight for him.
