That was almost a hideous end to the game. Staal is so slow to react out there it's sad.

3 on 1 where they don't get a shot and then stopped on a breakaway. Pretty much the season so far.

I can't stand the stupid shootout. Not to mention Lundqvist has been terrible in them. They blew this one in overtime. 3 on 1, 2 on 1 and a breakaway and they couldn't win it.

I don't really agree. They played hard late and got the game tied. Pretty much dominated the third and should've won in the overtime if they could finish. Their problem is their starts to games are terrible and they're constantly in a hole. How many games can you always start behind 2-0 and expect to win?

Obviously, aside from the shutout win I think they've been behind to start every game or just about. Seems like always an early 1-0 or 2-0 hole. A goal against in the first minute or two seems like a given.

At some point I don't think there will be any other options. Hank letting in a goal from behind the net. McD with a terrible TO. Kreider lazy and low IQ. Gorton not adding the C we badly need. Not all AV's fault, but unless you want to totally sink into the abyss, at some point you have to make some sort of change.
Personally I hate the way AV manages the bench. Always changing lines. Forgets players (like he did with Skjei/Smith in the Ottawa series). I scratch my head with some of his decisions. His feel for the game seems to be lacking sometimes.
And last night is so f'ing frustrating. Flat as usual to start. A whatever 1st and 2nd periods after that. And then great and lively in the 3rd. It is not realistic for a team to play that well all the time, but they should be playing better far more often than they do. They shouldn't be flat and lifeless as often as they are. When you look at guys like Kreider, Miller and Hayes maybe they need a different voice. Right now I am fed up with Kreider and Hayes. Both low IQ lazy players. And Miller is starting to frustrate me also. And the lack of finishing and over passing are constant issues for years now. As an aside if I was a goalie and the Rangers came down 2 on 1, I would automatically be on the side of the net where the 2nd guy is because you know the puck carrier will try a pass. That stuff is frustrating as F, and if AV cannot stop some of it we have to try a different voice.
I wish he would set some lines and just stay with them for more than 1 or 2 periods. Set your D and stay with it. I still think we have good players on D, but the coverage in zone stinks (system?). A lot of D's out there would love McD, Skjei, Shatt, Smith, and even Staal and TD as the bottom 2. That is a solid D I believe. You don't want McD and Shatt together, okay play McD with Smith and Staal and Shatt, but stay with it for a while and see how it goes. Enough with the constant changes first sign of struggles.
If we lose to the Preds I think you could see a change. As I wrote above, I just don't know how much longer you can let this go on with no changes and still believe everything will wok out.

On Nash for a second. I will start by saying we all know he is not a 7.8 mill player. If his cap hit was in the 4's, where it really belongs, he would be a good solid player. Dude always plays hard. Plays both ends of the ice. Has become a good PK guy and a very trustworthy guy in his own end. I actually really think Nash is a good team player and seems like a good likeable dude.
With that all said, does anyone in the NHL finish less than this guy given all the chances he gets. Jesus man the guy simply cannot finish at all anymore. He gets chance after chance after chance and doesn't score. It makes a big statement about the kind of player he is that he gets all these chances, obviously he still has game to do that, but his total inability to actually finish off the play is mind blowing. I think his shot is weak now and his picking corners is awful. How many times is it into the chest or right into the goalies pads.
This guys drives me nuts because he gets chance after chance and does not finish at all. And it bothers me because I like the guy and you can see how he has evolved his game and is a team guy. Dude has 1 goal, and is top 5 or 6 in the league in shots. Simply lost all his finishing touch. Shame.

I don't know, i actually have more faith that the D will improve more than the O would, as these guys have little creativity and zero accuracy. The most predictable shots a goalie could ask for. They wind up 5 secs before the puck even gets there..' Hey, shot coming!be on the lookout!'

I agree. Like I said I like the D and see talent there. To me unless we get more aggressive on O and pass less and have that scorers mentality the O will struggle. Look at last season. Our O started out on fire when the games were wide open. As things predictably tightened up our O struggled. Reason is we lack truly aggressive scoring mentality players. Kreider and Hayes lead the charge there. Hayes and Zucc will pass every time unless they have a wide open net. Nash cannot finish anymore. And Miller hasn't been the same player since late last season.
So yes I agree I think the D has talent and will improve once they settle in (and AV leaves some pairs together for more than 2 games). The O won't get much better unless Kreider and Miller raise their games, and Hayes plays with some passion. And most importantly Gorton adds the C we badly need.

I say f'n tank it. We added Andersson and Chytil last year. Kreider will bring back a top 10 pick. This time add a can't miss top role player prospect. Deal either Smith to one of the teams on his list for a couple of picks. His contract is not horrible. He's still a good player. With our draft pick this could be a pretty quick rebuild.
thought this guy ^^^^^ was anti tank? kreider isn't returning a top 10 pick. that would imply the team trading for him is a bottom 10 team? why would they trade for him to begin with? he isn't a player that puts you over the hump and jump 4 teams to get a playoff spot. teams in that position aren't going to trade away assets just to maybe make a playoff push for 8th place hes a player that you add if your a playoff team looking to make a deep run. at best you get a 2nd thats conditional on playoff advancement.

I am anti tank you dickless Devils fan. Tanking is when you don't even try to win before the season much like your organization has done the past 3 years. However, I would be not anti-tanking if you tried to win and then the season goes wrong. However, watching asswipe organizations like yours make no effort to win for years much like the Oilers, Pens of years ago, I've started to accept the stupid NHL will never put in my rule. That would be allowing no team with a top 2 pick to not draft any higher than 10th the following season. Historically, any team that wins a cup usually has 2-3 top 5 picks. So, the way I see it is if you are going to try and win and then the season goes wrong, it's not really tanking it. The Devils just made no effort to win the past 3 years from day one. That's tanking.

While your at it. Stay on your board assjabber. Your team is 6-1 and they still fucking suck. If you think you are going to keep this up with your AHL reject defenseman, winning games 5-4, you are on crack. I believe Hall is due for his 2 month injury soon.
This team is going straight down the shitter and going to get WAY worse before it gets better if they keep allowing the gum chewing buffoon to stay behind the bench. As it is the roster he’s handpicked is trash and will take 3-4 years to rectify.

I understand getting on the coach for the teams play but if you have issues with the roster that falls on the general manager.
But if the coach says “I want player A because I feel he works best for my system” what GM would say no? The GM and the coach BOTH have to be on the same page. Look at Vancouver’s roster when AV was there. Looks very similar to what we have here now. This reeks of an incompetent coach and a GM that refused to force AV to fire his butt buddy Arneil who keeps destroying the PP. I’m fine with both being gone.

I agree that it falls on the gm, however the coach dictates what players to get and the system employment. Stupidity all over the ice. Any of these players can go, I could care less. Maybe Buch is still young and can thrive under different system but the rest of these guys can go.
