Latest rumor (according to Ford, ESPN) is that NY may be trying to sign and trade Sweetney to Washington for Kwame Brown. I have mixed opinions on that.

Let's discuss.

Sweetney had a more productive year than Kwame...I don't know, you gots know I want PJ Ramos in this deal

You guys know that I love Sweetney, but I think I might accept this trade if I was Isiah. The Knicks lack size and shot-blocking with Kwame, they get size and the potential of a #1 overall pick. Michael Jordan even saw something special in this kid so that has to say something. Also we need to make room for David Lee who is now occupying the power forward for us. If Aguirre can work with Kwame and help him reach his full potential, in addition to us having a superstar, we will be move or two away from being a legitimate contender.

The negatives are his terrible attitude. Will Kwame ever reach his full potential? That?s up to him and the way it looks now, it doesn?t seem as if he will because that is missing. At least Sweetney never had any attitude problems and has a very good work ethic. Eventually, we will have to move Sweetney, but if I?m going to move someone of Sweetney?s caliber I want to get my money?s worth.

This is an interesting scenario for Isiah and it won?t surprise me if he pulls the trigger ? he is a risk taker. At first, I would look to get more offers for Sweetney but if worse comes to worse, we would have to just do it for the good of the team.

Marbury = Gone?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This week, a Western Conference team executive and a player agent each independently said that the Knicks wanted to move Marbury.

Marbury is 28 and is owed $60 million over the next three seasons. The contract will make him difficult to move, but there are already indications that Thomas will try. This week, a Western Conference team executive and a player agent each independently said that the Knicks wanted to move Marbury. "There's a desire for that to happen," said the agent, who requested anonymity because he did not want to jeopardize future dealings with the Knicks.

There are no signs that Thomas has put any proposals on the table, but executives around the league say they will not be surprised if Marbury is offered in the weeks ahead. A spokesman for the Knicks would not comment.</div>

Wow. Just wow. Kwame Brown has been a huge disappointment. The only thing he's proven is that even the greatest basketball player in history can make mistakes. He is as lazy a player as they come. Noone here wanted Chris Taft so why would we want Brown? I'm tempted to say that this is a stupid idea but stupid just doesnt quite cover it. Sweetney at the very least will be a double double player. Kwame Brown will never ever live up to his so called potential. He has the worst work ethic I have seen in a long time and his attitude in general is poor(that's putting it nicely). He's planning on coasting through the NBA because of his "potential".

I'm sorry but I must seriously question the intelligence of anyone who even thinks this could be a good trade for the Knicks. With that said I wouldnt be surprised if Isiah Thomas did make this trade. Now that I think about it it wouldnt be all bad. I mean Sweetney is a good kid and God knows he doesnt deserve to be on this lousy team. So maybe we should do this trade. Sure we'd add on more salary and be an even worse team but at least Sweetney would be on a winning team. So I have mixed emotions about this trade as well I guess.

Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

I don't think I'd accept it either. Thanks for waking me up, Tribute.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">At least Sweetney never had any attitude problems and has a very good work ethic.</div>
From what I heard Sweetney had a terrible worth ethnic and didnt want to lose weight until training with Mark Aguirre.
Anyway I think this could be a good trade. Sure people say he has a terrible attitude and horrible worth ethnic bout who is to say he can't change? Sweetney did. I remeber at the begining of the season Kwame Brown came into the league twice the size he is now (Im talking about muscle not fat) but he had to lose weight because he wasnt as mobile. Doesn't that show good work ethnic? I think we should take the chance, Hes taller and more athletic than sweetney and i think he will become a better player with the proper motivation.

Frankly, I'd think the Knicks should get more for Mike Sweetney if the player accquired is Kwame Brown. Marbury is a good playmaker who can crank out assists and Brown might be the type to capitalize on those playmaking skills. Maybe it might be decent to throw in that 7'3 Puerto Rican dude? I doubt the Wizards give up Jarvis Hayes because he may be the heir apparent to Larry Hughes. Maybe they'd want Crawford for him? Heh.. wishful.

Anyway, if I'm the Knicks, and there's a real good chance to get a big man who still is very young, hey let's do it. I think his confidence is down and he's not feeling any love, but having a better playmaker around him might do him wonders. Jermaine O'neil part II? When he's rolling, his game looks nasty because he's such a freak athlete. How far can the Knicks really go with just Mike Sweetney and very few possible centers? At least there's some possibility in playing Channing Frye at power forward at some occasions while Kwame goes in at center.

C: Brown / Frye
PF: Frye / Lee
SF: Q-Rich
SG: Jamal Crawford or Nate Robinson or Marbury
PG: Marbury or Jamal Crawford or Nate Robinson

Doesn't look bad on paper as long as you pretend Kwame having a "clean slate". There needs to be some defense or glue guys in there, though. 1,2,3 spots are all mediocre defenders that have questionable shot selection as well. I don't think too many people will pass the ball in that squad, which makes it curious as to why Isiah wanted a guy like Wally Szcerbiak at one point.

Anyway, I agree with Tribute that Isiah should be fired.

Nice scenarios, Custodian. I would rather have much more value for my 9th overall pick two years ago, though. If the Wizards gave up Kwame and Blatche, I would accept.

Especially on the fact, this is Sweetney's 3rd year, and he's showing alot of signs hes going to breakout and become a very good starter in this league, with his ability to score in the post and and rebound the **** out of the ball

Jesus man, Wizards would definately be loaded

Arenas (over 4 rebs)
Hughes (over 5 rebs)
Jamison (over 8rebs)
Sweetney (over 8 - 9 rebs if he gets starter mins)
Haywood - (over 8)

Isiah should definately try to get Blatche or PJR, a 7 footer just to add insurance, incase Kwame still preforms lazy, and Sweetney has his breakout year in Washington.

Why can't we just keep one of our young players that we drafted to watch him grow into a great player in the NBA? Next I bet Ariza will be out the door. Sweetney has so much potential, I dont want to give him away, I know we are stacked at PF but he can play C if needed a few minutes a game as well, he's miniSHAQ! I really believe Sweetney will standout in this league as tough as he is in the paint and on the boards. He has shown that he is trying to get in better shape and works harder than any Knick and most players in the league.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Wizards having Blatche. Great idea, Mr. J!

Blatche + Kwame would be very lucrative. I'm still a believer in Mike Sweetney, I just think that risks need to be taken and this could be the one chance to land a franchise big man if he should ever explode like Jermaine O'neil. Having a project center or power forward would just be a consulation prize in case Kwame still is disappointing. I still think Marbury can make these guys better.

Sweetney terrible work ethic?? You are misinformed. Last year I believe Sweetney had a death in the family which is why he came in overweight and stuff. Agguire can do alot of things but he cant instill a good work ethic into people. If Sweetney didnt have a good work ethic Agguire couldnt have done anything with him. Did you see Brown at all this year? Did you see what happened with him during the playoffs? Usually lazy players like him get their act together during a contract year but he didnt even bother. He's not interested in being a better basketball player he's interested in collecting his next big fat payday and some foolish team is going to give it to him. I've heard that proper motivation nonsense before. Lazy players like Brown have come and gone and survived in the NBA because "they needed a change of scenery" or just needed some "motivation" and of course because of their "potential". Brown will not be better than Sweetney. Ever.

Enough of this trade Sweetney nonsense. The Knicks are not going anywhere. We keep our young players, develop them and prepare to make a push in a few years. I'm not even slightly interested in Blatche. Sweetney is a true low post player who has proven he can be a very good player and Blatche is another skinny perimeter orientated powerforward that wont want to bang and(I hate these new age powerforwards)who will likely take years to develop if he develops at all(dont like high school players much either). So no more trade Sweetney talks. We should look for other ways to get better. Which means we should be shopping Marbury around.

Anyway I think Isiah THomas should be fired.

I'm just curious but if you, Tribute, was gm of the Knicks what moves would you make? Realistic moves that could actually happen.

if the cavs fail to get michael redd then look for them to try to pick up Starbury

Blockbuster Rumor!

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Any Validity To This Marbury/Hawks Trade Rumor?

6th July, 2005 - 3:34 pm

Patrick Austin/RealGM - Chad Ford of ESPN is reporting that the Knicks and Hawks are in discussions about a blockbuster trade involving Stephon Marbury and Al Harrington. Mr. Ford has been known to dream up scenerios that do not pan out, so there may not be much validity to it.

Though let?s say, for discussions sake, that talks were actually occurring. Would this be the right move for us to make? Would Stephon Marbury accept being dealt to Atlanta? What kind of impact would this have on our cap space? These are all important questions that I?ll try to answer.

The deal would include Al Harrington, Tony Delk, and Jason Collier heading to New York in exchange for Marbury. If this went down, our cap space would not be affected. We?d still have over twenty million dollars to spend on free agents. </div>

PLEASE do it isiah! if he does he is officially the dumbest GM in the NBA.

that's cuz your a knicks fan

think of it this way: if you do it you get another undersized power foward to add to your collection.

Isiah is trynna give away players like they're pokemon cards. I think we should keep Marbury and trade Quentin Richardson for J.R Smith

Harrington is a great young player that I feel is better suited for the small forward spot rather than the power forward spot and I think that's where he'll play for the Knicks. I feel it's a good deal for the Knicks who get to dump Marbury's contract to Atlanta and get a talented SF/PF in exchage. A good deal for both teams I would say with Marbury to help out the young Hawks and Harrington to become part of a new young core for the Knicks. With Harrington, Richardson, Frye, Crawford, and Sweetney the Knicks look like they are built for the future.

PG - Jamal Crawford
SG - Q Rich
SF - Al Harrington
PF - who knows? David Lee?
C - Channing Frye

That's a pretty solid young athletic team.

It starting to make sense. The Q Rich trade and acquired draft rights to Nate Robinson...

J.Crawford/N.Robinson
Quenton Richardson/Penny Hardaway/Allan Houston
A.Harrington/Trevor Ariza/Tim Thomas
M.Sweetney/M.Rose/David Lee/Jyd/Mo.Taylor
C.Freye/Jackie Butler/Bruno Sundov
I dont like that line up at all.

Yeah it make him the dumbest GM in the NBA this would be an awful trade for the NY Knicks.

Damn...I don't know, I'm so confused.

Hawk fans have to be idiots first of all, Marbury won't fit into your system, he's not a fast break player, he's not going to mix well on your team well, I don't really care.

Marbury is our franchise player, I don't get where Isiah is going.

Looking at the bright side, this helps our cap space, but still, we'll have Crawford's, Richardson's, Rose's, Williams's, and Taylor's contract to deal with

But theres so many things Isiah can offer, instead he settles for this shitty proposal

Nick Van Exel
Sebastian Telfair

for
Stephon Marbury

or
Sam Cassel
Micheal Olowakandi
Fred Hoiberg
06 first round pick

for
Stephon Marbury

or
Jonathan Bender
Ron Artest
Scot Pollard
Eddie Gill

for
Stephon Marbury
Jamal Crawford haha, this is too unrealstic.

All I'm saying, Isiah is an idiot when it comes to trading, because he ALWAYS helps the other team out, but he doesn't hurt us, but he doesn't help us...ya know? Isiah needs to hit a homerun this off season.

Yeh, I know, who wants 2 Point guards who fall in love with their 3's too much and doesnt know how to lead a team? and especially can't guard their man one on one

I'm doing this trade if Isiah makes Alanta take Taylor's,Williams or Rose's contract
