Changes have to be made on the defensive side. Aside from McDonagh, they have nothing. Their is a reason teams play aggresive against the Rangers, they don't fear there defense.

Like I said, when Sauer and Staal are pretty much done, your defense takes a massive hit. This team will be drafting high this year. They need to be sellers quickly now. They to acquire more physical defenseman and forwards. Hank has no confidence right now. Don't expect this team to get any better this season.

You know the season is over when 31 is longing for the days of Brandon " I don't score over 20 game stretches" Dubinsky. Sometimes you just have to admit your team sucks, make drastic changes and do a quick rebuild. First the lost Sauer which was a huge blow. Now Staal pretty much. That's 50% of your top 4. For a team that can't score, you are finished. Top that with Hank is having his worst season as a pro. We will be drafting high.

The organization is a complete mess right now from top to bottom. Dolan only cares about filling the new garden with corporate suits. Hard to be enthusiastic at this point when you have a crappy owner who only cares about making as much profit as possible.

Lundqvist is also putting them in a hole in too many games.

lol, funny that Dump brings up Dubinski's hot/cold stretches when his latest toy sensation Stepan has scored in 3gms this season. Let that one simmer for a bit. We've played 33 gms this year and our stud, pt-per-game, #1 center hasn't scored in 30 of them. But i'm sure Dump will have a built-in excuse for this.

dubi got killed for having a bad season...for being a streaky player.....shall we start calling Stepan a second half player?

Dubinsky has 8 goals in his last 55 games with Columbus. Can we just stop it with him already. I don't understand why some have the obsession of hanging on the jock of players that are gone.

Haven't researched it enough Stepup. However, clearly I would be looking for a top end, all around offensive center. If not available, I would look to trade down a few times, draft physical, nasty, forwards with offensive skill and nasty defenseman with more picks.

Andrew Ladd might be someone they could reasonably deal for who could help with his size for a few years.

Exactly, Al. Dubi was also crucified as a dog who just wanted the money and got fat once he got it. Yet Stepan is basically playing like horsecrap and mostly goes unscathed by the fans.

Dubi's not a binky to me, but i do bring it up b/c i thought it was unfair the extent to which he was bashed by fans on the board, yet today he's having a better year than Stepan, our supposed stud, 1st line center.

One of the problems with a flawed roster is people getting slot higher than their talent suggests i.e. Stepan whos a 2c, Hagelin who's a 3rd liner, Boyle and Girardi whos a 3/4.

Stepan playing badly is not even close to being as bad as Dubinsky when he sucked. Stepan is on pace for 50 points and he's been lousy this season. Dubinsky finished with 34 points. Not to mention, Stepan has a new coach. Dubinsky had no excuse other than he was a lazy dog here.

Dubi had one bad season and you were ready to jettison him like yesterdays news. lets not forget that he was also tossed around from line to line and from postion to position and never bitched about it. unlike some superstar who was asked to switch wings to better the team to round them out yet couldnt find it within him to accept it

Lay off the booze Al. Dubinsky never had a great season here. His best season was 54 points. He had 3, 40 point seasons and one 30 point season. That while getting 1st and 2nd line minutes. Bottom line was the Rangers saw a guy that got paid 4 million and on his best year was a 54 point guy. That's not good enough for 4 million. At least Callahan scored 29 goals and was on pace for 30 last season. I don't think he's worth 4.5 million.

We now have posters that are acting like Dubinsky scored 50 to 60 points three to four times here. Essentially, he was a 40 point scorer. Whoopdee damn do. Yeah, you would love to have that guy on your third line. Not for freakin 4+ million a season.

Another thing people who are longing for Dubinsky back forget is that he didn't win games for this team. Nash won about 12 games by himself last year for the Rangers. How quickly some of our posters forgot that. Not to mention, you are delusional if you think Kreider would have gotten this opportunity if Dubinsky and Anisimov were still on this team. He would be rotting in the minors. The problem with this team is not Nash. It's not Kreider. It's not even Stepan who is having a bad season. It's the freakin 3rd and 4th lines. Those lines need tougher players. They need max effort players with some offensive ability who don't make 3 to 4 million a season. That is what is really sinking this team.

How many games in the past 2 years have the Rangers lost to the 3rd and 4th lines of the Bruins? It has to be at least 5 to 7.

Sounds like they're kicking the E.Kane tires recently, but Winnepeg wants 2 top 6 forwards a 1st and prospect which is crazy. I'd deal Stepan, Miller, DZ and a 1st plus a decent prospect for him. Stepan can be replaced in FA over the next year or two, #2C aren't all that hard to find.

71, that's a bit much for Kane, but you def have to be willing to pay for a talent like Kane.

I tell you what, though. If 'Peg says Stepan must be in the deal, i have no problem letting him go for Kane. Step, MDZ and a 1st should be enough.

Oh I would do that in a NY minute, considering what the Rangers have to offer which isn't alot compared to other teams. I'm not sure that would even be enough, you might have to throw in a prospect like Skjei. Then just go at it in FA to fill remaining needs.

Eklund:

* The Rangers are being very aggressive right now and a trade involving Del Zotto + for Evander Kane is not out of the question.

please dear god Eklund just be right for once

Another site said the price for Kane was 2 top 6 forwards and a prospect or pick. That would obviously rule us out unless we want to part with Kreider and Stepan, which seems counter-productive to me

The problem with getting Evander Kane is this team doesn't have enough top 9 forwards....Scoring depth is a huge problem but I would love to get him.

Do NOT trade Kreider

If we can do it without giving up a top 6 forward I'd absolutely do it regardless of what prospect they want. It'll help the scoring depth too because it'll bump one of the "top 6" clowns we are currently using down to the bottom 6 where they belong.

A third line of Hagelin-Brassard-Callahan should actually work pretty well if Hagelin can stop gliding around like a god damn figure skater, Brassard removes his head from his ass, and Callahan remains healthy for more than 10 games at a time. Then you have a top 6 of Step, Richards, Nash, Kane, Kreider, Zucc. That's not awful. But if 71's story is right and not Eklund, then one of those top 6 have to go and we're right where we started

You guys wouldn't be willing to deal Stepan with say DZ/Miller/1st if they kept Kreider? That's a no brainer to me. Stepan's a solid C but not irreplacable.

71, I hate giving the first in that deal as we could be a top 5 pick this year the way we're going. For kane, stepan who is soft to me can go with delz, miller and a prospect(not mcilreith) and I'm fine with it.

DZ/Miller/1st AND step is way too much. If you do Step/MDZ + pick or prospect other than Miller, that leaves our 4 deep center rotation as Richards, Brassard, Boyle, Moore. I guess you make that deal if you've already conceded this is a lost year but I'm not ready to do that yet
