Anyone know if Scoot or Shae were planning on playing?

I'm hoping to see Camara, Scoot, Rupert, and Murray. I'm not expecting to see Shae.

i dropped a friendly comment in the Blazers suggestion box, and they sent me a photo of excited Blazer fans wearing Lillard & McCollum jerseys.

gosh frickin dammit

i wanna get excited for this new era, and this team won't let me.

I'd hope Sharpe and Scoot both play. Every young guy on our squad needs reps and none of these guys are locks as starters. Sharpe also needs to get over his injury.

I understood Dame not playing his second year but he was an excellent starter from day 1.

Agree, Shaedon should play again. He missed his first one and didn't play that great last summer. He should go to Vegas and dominate.

I could see Shae playing just for knocking off the rust from missing so much time.

I have this feeling that neither Shae or Scoot will play Summer league? Hope I'm wrong but I can see Joe being talked into not risking injury to his star players.

I would not risk Shae playing. Besides the risk of injury, I just don't think he took the SL seriously last year. Give the minutes to Rupert.
Scoot, Rupert, Camara, Murray, and the 2-3 rookies. (Maybe Badji as well)

How much does playing in SL actually help people with guaranteed contracts? You're probably more likely to improve if you just go off and work with a trainer uninterrupted. Is Scoot going to develop a reliable three-point shot by playing in SL? No. But Channing Frye did, just by taking a bazillion threes one offseason.

I just want them to play so I get to watch them!

Neither Scoot or Shae will play in SL imho.

I ABSOLUTELY disagree with this. He shot abysmally, but he really worked on other parts of his game, especially defense and distribution. I think he took it very seriously.

You could be right. As I recall he did look good at times, but he also looked hung over at other times.

He's a Canadian must drink like a fish! rye & Coke & Caesars

I'll be in Vegas for the first 4 days with my son. Love catching these summer league games.

If the Blazers sent everyone 23 or younger on their current squad, that would be 6 guys. Add in 4 more from the draft, and we already have 10. Dang, we have a young team. Let's hope for no injuries this year.

If Sharpe is fragile and is going to be injury prone I want to know about it sooner rather than later. It sounds like that’s what some are scared of?

I don't trust many of the desperate players in SL. They might not be as good as the players in the Association, but they play their asses off trying to get noticed. And sometimes a bit out of control. Why send him there for his 3rd straight year when he is coming off an injury that made him miss a majority of the season?

Plus if he did get hurt in Vegas then I would have to listen to everyone bitching about how stupid management was for sending him there.

Agreed. Scoot needs as much time as he can get and needs to dominate. Rupes, Tou, Kris, Badji, the rookies....run them all out there for 25+ minutes a game.

I want to see Sharpe in summer league at least 1-2 games just so he can make another step of recover with his injury.

Yes there is a always a tiny chance he gets injured again - but better take that chance now than in October IMO

This I would be OK with because I do think it would help with his development. Even if it was just for the tryout for the Canadian team:

The other name being bandied about was Portland’s Shaedon Sharpe. The Trail Blazers would love it for his development, his agency would love it for his profile and Canadian officials want him around the program with an eye to the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

I would like to officially veto Clingan playing in summer league. I have seen too many of our prized rookies get hurt. No thanks. Nothing to be gained having him play.

Clingan will play. Cronin wants another Summer League Championship trophy

Best time of the year. We are getting that trophy again

Clingan yes.
The rest will be players looking to make the practice squad.

Sharpe I believe even if not on the team is traveling with the Canadian Nat. team for the Olympics so he is out and Scoot my guess is he might play one to two games then just practice with them.
