It's a funny year because Reed Sheppard would normally be a favorite, but the Rockets have an iron-man $40M starter in his position. Edey would obviously put up numbers if he got the minutes (y'know, just like Boban) but with Ja Morant coming back, presumably the team will be trying to win. If Edey still gets minutes in that scenario, then he will be a deserving winner. But this is going to be one of those wide-open years.

Quick quiz (without looking it up): who was the last rookie-of-the-year on a Blazers roster? It's going to be like the year he won.
It has got to be Damian Lillard, before that I have no idea but im gonna look it up now.

That’s easy
Brogdon
Watch me be wrong now ha

Bummer for Daron Holmes. Blew out his Achilles. Tough start to a career

Right, so who would be a Brogdon-like winner this year?

I guess I'll bet on Bubs Carrington given his impressive debut, the fact that he'll have all the minutes he wants on a shitty team, and because he was taken with the pick we gave up in the Avdija trade, and that would give us fans one more reason to complain.

Bronny Hames 6-26 and 0-12 from 3 so far in summer league? Hmmmm? 4 year guaranteed contract?
It's a three year guarantee with a fourth year team option. It's the same contract we gave Bari except they have more control over his fourth year.

The young guy does not look like he's out of his depth, he looks athletic enough and skilled enough to be in the league. Anyone comparing him to Kobe has their head up their ass because Bronny will likely be a career backup who has a ceiling of being a fifth or sixth man on a decent team.

The fact is I don't think he handles the spotlight very well. The form on his shot looks great but he's short arming just about everything, even being timid with uncontested putback attempts. Maybe the dude just needs some time, which a second round contract gives young prospects with second round evaluations.

We sure as shit weren't this hard on Jabari Walker who is a second generation player drafted out of Colorado when our team has so many ties to that state and program. This is just some LeBron hate and as lame as most of that is, this is far far more lame. Just piling onto a young guy who will likely never find his way out of his fathers shadow, who has as likely of a chance that this will be his last guaranteed contract as he does to find a way to stick in this league as a role player. Atypical pressure for a guy with typical skills and talent for a late second round pick.

Bronny isn't Jabari Walker, he's an athletic Blevins. In 3 years, both father and son will be out of the league. Personally, I feel sorry for him. Sometime in the middle of this year, the Lakers fans will turn on him, and it won't be his fault, and they'll be brutal.

I will be delighted when Lebron is retired and Bronny is playing in China. So over them.

Today's games:

Matas Buzelis (11th pick) for Chicago, AJ Johnson (23rd) for Milwaukee.
I don't know the playing status.

And to add to this, Jabari's father nor agent threatened to send the player to Australia if he was drafted by any team other than the Lakers. Most fans are fine with Bronny chasing his dream. Everyone should honestly. Some fans have a problem with gaming the system. There are some that think it is fine to leverage dad's influence, being a famous nepo baby. Hopefully the kid turns out fine. At least he is in a spot where they have have to give him the support he needs.

OKC starts game shooting 1-13 (7%). The future looks bright !!

Even Podziemski is playing while Scoot sits and watch

Cavs rookies shooting 65%, doubling up the score vs. Bucks rookies

Look who’s in the front row of the Wizards game -

How did Cronin convince them to give us Deni?

Carr sports academy placed 3rd in the U-17 Las Vegas Summer League tournament.
Tough teams there. The kids had a great time.
I’m on the way to Ann Arbor now.
Busy week.

Reed Sheppard looks every bit as impressive as I thought he'd be, maybe more. If he can figure scoring out, at a high level, he's more like Jerry West and Steph Curry than people realize. If not, watching the way he jukes people and how he finds the right players....there's Chris Paul in him, too, if his play translates into the NBA, which it should since he simply plays in such a fundamentally sound manner akin to CP3 (Luka and Roy, too, for that matter).

I'm kinda annoyed that the Rockets have all the players I wanted - Amen, Reed, Eason. Only thing I think they messed up is Jabari over Sharpe but Jabari is playing 70+ games a year so go figure

Also, I feel like there's no reason Scoot should be sitting. Blazers need to drill some confidence into him and this is the perfect place to do it.
