Harkless has no chance at ever being as good as Evans and the two years prior played in 72 and 79 games respectively. And he'll be super cheap. Aiming to acquire Andre Miller caliber players will get us nowhere.
Evans needs the ball to be effective, Harkless doesn't. We should never ever ever trade for a player who is HURT unless we are getting some crazy good pick with him packaged in. We need to focus on small deals right now because the teams chemistry is off the charts right now. Small pieces now, big pieces in the summer.

I don't get why some people prefer a 3rd stringer who doesnt need the ball (another term for can't do much with the ball) vs a starter who does need the ball (another term for skilled with the ball)... It doesn't make sense.

And Evans can spot up (shooting 39% from 3), defend, set up an offense, and rebound, so that notion is wrong anyway.

Didn't you just say you want another PG? A PG needs the ball. Evans could be that PG, and he fits even better next to CJ and Dame than most because he's 6'6, strong, and he can gaurd 3 positions.

We need a backup PG to play like 10-12 minutes a night to help move the second unit along because CJ has problems setting up an offense. Besides talk about Evans is moot he can't contribute to our cause this season and who knows what he will be like post surgery? We are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, we shouldn't be trading contributors for someone who MIGHT be good next season, especially when that position isn't a huge need.

Right now our needs are:

1) Downlow post presence

2) Backup point guard

Unless we can pry Z-Bo and Chalmers from Memphis on the cheap, our likely path is gonna be wait until draft night/FA to address needs.

Why do we need a low post presence? Golden State does just fine without one. Why would we have to have a PG only good enough to pay 10-12 minutes? Doesn't make sense. Trading contributors? You mean Meyers and Harkless? They're fringe roration players. Evans is a very good starter that we could bring off the bench. Even if he declines a little bit, he'll still be way more valuable than Harkless or Leonard.

Or not

I'll pass, this is his THIRD knee surgery on his right knee since last May - NO THX

I think we should trade Gerald. He's most likely going to be elsewhere next season and trading him would open up more minutes for harkless/Vonleh. Let's be realistic here. If we make the playoffs, it will most likely be as a 7th or 8th seed and were not beating the Warriors or the Spurs. I'd rather get something for Henderson, no matter how much I've actually grown to like him. It's just in the best interest of the franchise moving forward.

I was one of the few who liked Shabazz coming out of UCLA. Not as much as CJ but for where we were drafting I thought he might be good. If they added him then IMO it would be to replace Henderson's role with the team.

To make the financials work I think it would have to be this trade:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=z9tzbdj
Pekovic and Muhammad for Henderson and Kaman.

Problem is that it cuts into our cap space this summer. This is probably the deal MIN wants us to take and we are balking at the inclusion of Pekovic. Trade fails if you just try to do just Muhammad for Henderson though.

I bet if a deal between these two teams goes through then we settle for this instead:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jz8kqag
Martin and Muhammad for Henderson and Kaman.

I'd do that. Is martin injured? I've always liked his offensive game. His game would be lethal off the bench and he gets to the line.

If Martin gets included in something like that we better not be keeping him. I just cant get behind a guy that has as ugly of a shot as he does.

Martin is always injured. I think he is playing lately though even though he missed time earlier this year.

Does it really matter how ugly his shot is if it goes in?

He has an opt-out in his contract this off-season. People seem to think that he is guaranteed to take it.

And yes, I agree, no way you do the Pekovic deal. They can pound sand on that one! The Martin deal I would do however (and not because you get Martin, but you get Muhammad to test out next year).

Hmm...maybe Pekovic is who the Grizz need to pick up to replace Gasol for the time being.

Pekovic would slow our transition play down to a plodding half court slugfest....I love that our 7 ft guys can finish a fast break

Morey wouldn't do that for the simple fact that it adds salary to next year's team. He thinks he can hit a homerun every summer (in his head) with free agents.
But they need a PF, right? I dunno - just trying to think of teams that make sense for Howard.

This from last month:

"Timberwolves veteran center Nikola Pekovic has been cleared to participate in full contact practices, the next step toward his return from April surgery on his Achilles tendon. Trouble is, the Wolves haven’t practiced much later with a schedule that includes tonight’s game at Target Center against Utah, their third game in four nights."

That is a scary injury for a big man his age. Too bad because he is the type of vet who could help us for a couple of years. We could use some bulk. But the injury is too risky IMO.

Cool. Give Houston our second rounder in 2027

Ya PF would probably be their target. Amir Johnson at 12-13 MIL next year would make me puke if it was my team though.
