Monroe can facilitate offense in the high post with his passing ability and he's actually a pretty good pick and roll defender. Add that to his rebounding (especially offensive) and his low post scoring, and id definitely love to have him. Not worried about spacing. Teams wouldn't hedge as much knowing Monroe is down low. That in itself creates space for the guards.

It's time to move on.

Sly: Hey, remember that thing that pissed everyone off six months ago? I'm going to bring it up again and make a comment related to that thing!

Blazer fan: I'm still a little bitter about how that turned out.

Sly:Why are you still thinking about that thing?!? You need to let it go.

I could see Houston and Miami swapping Whiteside and Howard, but that's not a needle mover for either team. I don't think Howard gets Miami back into the ECF (especially if Bosh is out) and I don't think Whiteside does a damn thing for Houston. Hopefully he bails on them after this year, which would be hilarious.

The Howard/Horford/Whiteside three-way deal seems to be the one that would make the most sense for all involved.

Not a trade but I wonder if that changes any of Charlotte's strategy?

It still doesn't make sense to me because I don't see Whiteside working out in Houston, and I could see them losing him for nothing this summer. Horford works for Miami, and I guess Howard makes sense in ATL.
I imagine Houston believes that they can still be successful this season if they put the right pieces around Harden, so I would see this as the kind of gamble they'd take. Plus, with Howard making $20M more than Whiteside, Houston would have to get back a couple other $10M contracts to balance salaries. Splitter and Deng are overpaid, but they're still decent contributors. Even if Whiteside did leave, Houston would still have Splitter as a return on the deal, as contrasted with Dwight leaving for nothing. And on the off chance that the deal stabilizes and improves the team, they might actually be able to salvage this season, and perhaps retain Whiteside if he and Harden work well together.

Personally, I think Miami should blow it up. Wade is older than dirt, Bosh has some major health concerns, and Horford alone is not enough to push them over the top.

Sure, I understand still being upset over LMA leaving, that's why I said it would be funny if the Spurs traded him.

What I was commenting on is saying that we should have traded him. That was never an option.

I would be happy to give them a big trade exception for some picks.=]. Because I think they'll still miss the playoffs and it could get us a decent pick.

Why wasn't it an option?

Damn it, I posted that in the wrong thread a bit ago. :dunno:

to get WCS I think ya have to offer CJ and one of Henderson/Plumlee/Meyers and then get WCS/Collison/McLemore

yep, SVG is doin a great job there - but WTF is Orlando doin?

Not living up to their namesake.

Ilyasova basically fills the spot Harris vacated. Not sure how that creates a log-jam.

My reaction if I'm a pistons fan: dope. My reaction if I'm a magic fan: wut.

Per Marc Stein: ESPN sources say Orlando has been trying to move Channing Frye in advance of Thursday's trade deadline. He's likely even more available now with Ersan Ilyasova on the way.
