Some fun quotes from the 2015 S2 trade thread -

What ever deal the Blazers make I hope CJ is apart of it!

Looking at his numbers I don't think he's worth giving up a lot for.
Afflalo is a 12 PER with a 20 USG%
I'd much rather try to pry away Thomas from PHX, who is on the block.
This team is missing a legit go-to guy off the bench.

We don't need amare. I'd rather have Leonard offensively, and id rather have freeland defensively.

I'd be happy with Nate, dump Barton.

Do NOT trade Crabbe.

I've thought Afflalo would be a good fit for the Blazers for some time. I'd much prefer him to Chandler. I know he could bolt next year, but he'd also be insurance in case someone offers Matthews a truck full of money.

Woj - "Nuggets want a first-round pick and a good young player for Afflalo."
Their asking price is too high. I wouldn't be surprised If that's a deal breaker - they probably want CJ or Leonard.

Id take gee over Barton any day. Gives us a good sized wing we can use for defensive purposes. At the very least he's 6 extra fouls.

So.... this is it for Portland? Afflalo? Terrible, terrible move. WTF?
I don't care that none of the three guys we gave up do not play (and were not going to be here next season), they have a ton of potential (especially Barton and TRob). FAMS!:smiley-195517897341

It's interesting what a year's hindsight brings. I'd say CJ, Crabbe, and perhaps Barton were undervalued (by some).

It's sounding like this year the Blazers won't be involved in any trades that involve young, unproven talent. Leonard and Kaman are the names most often thrown around. There's not much mystery with those two.

I still don't like Barton lol but I was wrong about the gee preference.

Kings fire their assistant coach and go after Pau Gasol in a final, desperate push for the playoffs with only 25 games left.

smh. Good lord, that team has no direction. Worst run organization in the league. A league that contains the likes of the Brooklyn Nets. ugh. Makes me sad for Kings fans.

Let the record show my level of outrage. I'm a genius, FAMS!!!

It looks like Varejao is guaranteed $19M this year and next. Why would Varejao give up $19M for a $3M buyout? If he's betting on making that up in free agency, that a huge gamble on his part, and not many players would take that risk.

Because they give him a $20mil assistant coaching job and save $40 mil in tax.

MyLo for Jahlil.

Some final thoughts entering deadline day:

Lance Stephenson may be traded.
If he is, it is likely he will be waived.
If he is waived, he will be available.

Lance is Lillard's age.
If we trade Hendo for draft picks (for example), we could have a roster spot open.

Can Lance be trained. Would we want to try?

Guy is talented but a head case. If it was any year where we might have a chance at making a splash in the playoffs i'd say no in a second, but a year like this where if we make the playoffs we are likely facing SA or GSW then I say sure, lets see if we can turn him around and if we can't its not costing us much to waive his ass.

I mean if he wanted to come here, sure. When he is on his game he is Batum-like. However, I think he would find his way back to Indy somehow.

No. Its similar to Larry Sanders.

This is the type of deal to look at in the summer if you have time to work with him and see how he fits with the team.

There isn't enough practice time to get him up to speed during the season. I'd honestly rather see baseball Pat play minutes if it came to that.

Time on my hands...7 and 3/4 hours till the deadline...

February 24, 2011: The Charlotte Bobcats traded Gerald Wallace to the Portland Trail Blazers for Dante Cunningham, Joel Przybilla, Sean Marks, cash, a 2011 1st round draft pick (#19-Tobias Harris) and a 2014 1st round draft pick (#24-Shabazz Napier).

Almost exactly 5 years later, Tobias Harris gets traded, and Sean Marks is about to become the Nets GM. Weren't we looking for a GM when we dumped Marks without respect?

DID YOU KNOW

Do NOT be confused by our competitors. Orlando traded its own 2016 top-55 protected 2nd round pick for Shabazz Napier. Portland traded its own 2020 top-55 protected 2nd round pick for Moe Harkless. Sleuth jlprk has just discovered that THEY WERE NOT THE SAME PICK.

If you're Utah don't you just wait until the Rockets cut him; then sign him for the minimum?

Burke may be a disappointment relative to his draft spot; but this year he's still contributed to a team in the playoffs.

^that has to make guys at the end of a bench nervous.

NY tried to land Rubio or Teague...

With what?! Outside KP their roster is garbage.
