Oh man.... Teague and Harden would be horrible together. It's basically just Lawson/Harden all over again.

Why would the Nets want Ty Lawson and Jones and why would Boston want to give up depth for 2 guys that will get max deals and play the same position?

Lawson is ungauranteed so they could test him out and cut cap. Acquire a young piece in KJ.
Horford can play PF and Howard/Horford/Crowder/Smart would make Boston a top 3 defensive team in the league.

You guys say you wanna use capspace to get... Does that mean something like this? I think the Celtics would do it. They need a wing instead of a combo gaurd and essentially replace Sullinger with Howard.. The Rockets clear up $16M in cap for next year to go after Durant and others.. We'd get a 1st from Boston..Screenshot_2016-02-12-21-32-07.png

I guess it raises the question of is taking a $16M hit in capspace while giving away Plumlee worth bringing in assets like Sullinger, Bradley and a pick? Or is the hit on capspace too much?

Just throwing this possible trade out here that would make sense if we were just collecting assets.
Jodie Meeks plus a 2016 protected lottery pick for Gerald Henderson.

Looking at the Pistons roster, they have KCP and Reggie Jackson playing the bulk of the backcourt minutes. Brandon Jennings is starting to get back into game shape and is getting more minutes but they have no other guards that can play consistent minutes. Henderson will help with the guard rotation. I'd assume we get this pick this year or next year.

If we miss the playoffs and the Pistons make the playoffs, we can possibly have the 12-14th pick and also a 15-16th pick. That can be used to maybe draft Denzel Valentine and Caris LeVert or whoever. Or we could package both picks on draft night for a almost-allstar/allstar player.

Also this gives Harkless more opportunities for playing time.

The newbie coming with a realistic hypothetical... Salute.

Memphis is an interesting team to watch.

Could see them blow the whole thing up. Send Conley to Utah, Zach to Boston, Marc to Portland, get back Exum, multiple first round picks, Plumlee, maybe their own pick from Denver.

Could also see them going in opposite direction, grab Pau Gasol from Chicago, Hendo from us, Jeff Green and Kaman go to Chicago, we absorb Joakim Noah and Vince Carters contracts while we get draft picks.

If the grizzlies blow it up I want courtney lee

Aiight let's play a game. Predict what Portland will or won't do by the deadline, and specifically name players. Let's see if anyone gets it right.

I don't understand how Miami could benefit from moving Whiteside in a salary dump if he is only making $981,000 this year?

Because they realize that they won't be able to sign him this summer and they might be able to get something, anything, for him now. They don't have his bird rights and he's going to get a max offer from some team.

Never mind.....it looks like they might want to use Whiteside to dump "other salaries"
Although looking at their team salary list, there are only 3 players who will make over 6 million next year.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard said the Heat is gauging trade interest in Whiteside, and two people in contact with the Heat told me that Miami appears open to considering a Whiteside trade, if it can dump other salary and get quality talent back, because it knows it’s going to be uncomfortably costly to keep him. Heat officials have expressed frustration with him, for reasons we explained in last Sunday’s column. But the Heat also knows the odds would be against a trade this week because he’s earning just $981,000 (causing cap complications) and the team acquiring him wouldn’t have any financial advantage in re-signing him.

Overrated. What are his "issues"? If the guy is a 'case', I don't want him near the Blazers.

Whiteside seems like an anti Neil Olshey player, questionable attitude and work ethic, me stats, immature.

Honestly don't even know if I wanna sign him for free with the minimum. He would take time from our bigs and cause locker room problems.

I could see us being the third team that takes Haslem, Birdman, McBob and or Deng for a pick.

I'd take the whole lot of them and give up a pick for Winslow. Could be part of a Melo to Miami trade or something.

Whiteside and McRoberts for Meyers. They save a luxury tax and we take a risk on player posting a 24 PER.

That may actually be a pretty good deal if Olshay thinks he might work. Not giving up much as I think Portland should move on from Leonard if he is going to sign a large contract this offseason.

For Miami they can see how Meyers fits with their team and save on the Luxury tax. He'll be a cheaper 5 that can shoot and spread the floor.

Haven't you just described DeAndre Jordan? At least, the Jordan that Olshey first drafted and then re-signed to a (what was then) ridiculously huge contract?

No. DeAndre has a good attitude and works hard.

He had no skills or basketball IQ, very different problems.

That 24 PER that he dedicates his whole play style into getting? Nah

McBob is also guaranteed money into next season. I'd rather just keep Meyers and if he gets a big offer this summer let him walk. He may not get that big of an offer and is worth keeping as the 10th man. Or we get something in a sign and trade. Or he does get overpaid and we let him walk in which case were still better off not having McBobs overpaid contract.

Interesting review on Tobias Harris who seems to be available. The article also touches on Vucevic and Oladipo who have been brought up here previously.

Good article putting Harris in a good light. There are certainly some thing I like about him and a few I don't as well. It all depends on what it would take to get him. His contract seems high but with the new cap, might not be that bad for the next 3 years if he were to really produce.

The article does cast him in a good light, but it seems he is not quick enough to guard SF's and not big enough to effectively guard PF's. The author could be cherry picking a little by showing his interior defense, which might be against smaller guys and giving no statistics on his perimeter defense.

I wouldn't mind getting him then having him work on his explosiveness over the entire summer.

My issue with Whiteside, he's a very good rebounder, yet Miami is a better defense rebounding team when he is off the floor. They're much better offensively, but we're already the #3 offensive rebounding team in the league. We're 8th on defense. I imagine they're better without him on the defense end because of his block attempts. But they also give up a slightly worse Ortg with him out there, so his gambling and shot blocking ultimately isn't helping them as much as generic stats might let on.

I think Whiteside has holes as well but from watching some of their games, the teams seems to make more of an effort to rebound when he is on the bench. When he is in there, it seems they just somewhat default to the premise that he is going to clean up everything.

Any team with a shotblocker has to learn to rotate over to cover for the spot they left. Some do it better than others.
