1.4 mil for Plumlee is a steal. I have this fear that Whiteside is another JJ Hickson...

Perhaps but Hickson never put up those types of numbers from a shot-blocking standpoint or the ability to be an actual center.

Yeah Hickson is a good comparison. Big stats in a way that doesn't help the team. Often steal stats from teammates such as uncontested rebounds. If either one had a great attitude they could fill a role as a spark off the bench. As a starter or playing major minutes they cause a lot of challenges for teammates.

No. DeAndre has a good attitude and works hard.

Kind of a mystery that he dropped to the SECOND ROUND, then.

He had no skills or basketball IQ, very different problems.

That can't have been all his problems. An insane athlete who's 7 feet tall drops to the second round? There were questions about the smaller Andre Drummond and he fell all the way to... mid lottery.

Why do you care about their predraft rankings? Whiteside wasn't a top pick either.

We've learned a lot from how they've played in the league. At this point and NBA career is far more indicative of the player than predraft projections. DeAndre make his teams defense better. He doesn't have the attitude red flags. I'd stay clear of Whiteside. Neil giving DeAndre a contract has zero correlation towards him bringing in that Miami misfit; in my opinion.

I remember when Hickson was on the Blazers though. Almost everyone wanted to keep Aldridge and Hickson together.

Yes, THAT'S MY POINT. They both dropped because they had character red flags. Jordan has turned it around, but Olshey gambled on him before he had. HENCE MY COMPARISON.

Compare Jordan's first two years to Whiteside's. I'm betting Whiteside's look better. Olshey gambled on Jordan, so I don't think we can conclude he wouldn't on Whiteside.

whiteside would go against everything Olshey has said publicly about what he looks for in a player though.

Whitesides first two years he scored a total of 29 points. DeAndre scored 564. Whiteside was drafted 6 years ago. DeAndre had a far better first few years and 5th and 6th year.

I don't see at all how your arguments lend toward Neil wanting to acquire Whiteside.

By everyone do you mean yourself?

The team finished the year with 13 straight losses and he was the weak link. I remember most thinking he was an 'ill fit at center and at best an interesting backup big behind LaMarcus. There was a lot of concern about giving him significant money as a free agent.

Interesting review on Tobias Harris who seems to be available.

Good article, but the author's main table, titled "Ball Handlers Outperforming their Teammates," compares a $16M per year individual, Harris, to NBA teamwide averages, which include 15th men.

Most of Orlando’s ball handlers have not been efficient. But one of them has! Harris is averaging 0.88 points per possession. That is better than 28 of 30 NBA teams are averaging!

The Kings are exploring the idea of making a minor trade and it could involve shooting guards Marco Belinelli or Ben McLemore in exchange for draft picks or a wing defender, per the Sacramento Bee.

------

Henderson for McLemore?

That's interesting..how old is he?I don't know much about him really but I'm invested in the Gerald Henderson acquisition. It's taken me a long time to start favoring guys and Henderson has me sold...I'll look for some McLemore clips....

I think he's either 22 or 23.

McLemore would be an interesting prospect IF we were trading CJ or Crabbe. If we retain both those players, he doesn't make sense. There's not enough minutes to go around.

Howard for Whiteside? I dunno what to think of that potential deal.

Meh for meh? A guy not living up to his potential for a guy that isn't likely to live up to his potential?

Whiteside would fit right in with their team concept.

Those things take care of themselves. It's about gaining another asset and it gives portland insurance for Crabbe.

From espn:

The aforementioned McLemore, sources say, is working with the Kings to try to find a new home via trade. Sacramento made the same pledge to veteran swingman Caron Butler as far back as December.

Word is that the Kings, who are desperate to end a playoff drought spanning nine seasons and counting before moving into a new building next season, prefer immediate help in trade talks more than future picks.

Blazers getting McLemore would likely make C.J. expendable for a Blake Griffin or Kevin Love deal.

Doesn't he just slot right in and take the minutes Henderson is getting?

Not much they can do to get them back into the playoff picture at this point.

It's the same issue though. Three young guys who all want to start.
I look at him more as an assett. Henderson isn't likely going to stay here. So we move an expiring for a young guy with potential. You give him Henderson 15 or so mpg, and you hope he shows enough to be a potential chip moving forward. He also gives you small insurance on if crabbe leaves

We can play both. Vonleh and harkless can rotate at PF.

Right now today Allan Crabbe is a better overall player than Ben McLemore.
Great so if we do trade C.J. we can just bring McLemore off the bench and start Crabbe. That way at least the world wont come crashing down on us.
