Excellent question. I don't want strictly an offensive player who is the 3rd option. And I don't want a ball hog either. Obviously a Kawhi Leonard would be ideal....... but unrealistic. And there might not be even a poor man's version of Kawhi out there this summer. So we might have to wait a year or two to get lucky. But for us to win it all, and that is the main objective, we will need at least an excellent 3 and D guy....... who can also attack the basket when pressed on the perimeter.
I think for now we start Aminu or Harkless in that position, but look for an upgrade. We can finish the games with Crabbe as the 3 and D guy. He is long, (6'11 1/4 wingspan) can hit the three, and he can put the ball on the floor and attack the basket with his excellent runner.....and can shoot free throws. That combo might even work long term if Vonleh (or someone else) turns into a dependable scorer at the 4 spot.
Our starting SF needs to be able to shoot well though, not just a slasher. He needs a dependable outside shot. Even if it is a mid range shot.
CLE has already reportedly turned down better deals for Love than that though. I guess if they were desperate to shred the other bloated contracts then they might consider it.Just saw a relatively interesting trade proposed by some random guy on twitter.

Would definitely leave us thin at center, defensively overall, and would destroy our 2016 cap space, but if you are a Love lover, this might be the way to go.
Why would pels do this? Shumpert contract sucks, cause he sucks
To get Leonard's bird rights in return for Anderson? Maybe they like Shumpert's defense?
I don't see it making sense from Cleveland's perspective, considering they're probably still hoping they can win a title this year, but I thought it wasn't a terrible proposal overall.
Here is something from a couple years ago, about Collison's defense.http://www.nba.com/clippers/news/versatile-collison-has-been-difference-maker-clippersWell, it looks like there won't be any big trade for the Blazers. I think Kaman will be traded for a 2nd round pick. If there is no assurance that Henderson will stay, then he will be traded. What about straight up for Darren Collison? The guy has a .475 shooting %, pretty darn good for a point guard and he is .381 from three. Even if Henderson stays i would try to get Collison for Frazier and whoever Sacramento wants of Connaughton, Montero or Alexander, maybe Harkless. The only other guy I was interested in was Oladipo but word is out now he will not be traded.
That sounds more like he's just assuming us or Philly due to available cap space.
Hellllll no to Anderson varejao

Yeah, if we are looking for a team wanting to dump a center on an expensive deal, I'd turn my sights to Chandler even if he is signed for longer, they have a plethora of picksCavs have few Draft picks either so what else would we get for taking on his salary for another year and bailing them out of a HUGE tax hit?
Delly? Other than that, I got no idea, unless it's something like the three-way Love deal I posted earlier.Cavs have few Draft picks either so what else would we get for taking on his salary for another year and bailing them out of a HUGE tax hit?
Chandler not only signed longer but for more a year though.Yeah, if we are looking for a team wanting to dump a center on an expensive deal, I'd turn my sights to Chandler even if he is signed for longer, they have a plethora of picks
Nets say that they will now only do minor deal because they don't want to trade a guy who the new GM (whoever that is and whenever that is - a week away supposedly) might want a guy that they went and moved. I think you can get Thad possibly but that is it.Any way we can squeeze both Thaddeus Young & BroLo outta Brooklyn, at a decent discount!?![]()
Nobody wants to get blamed.Nets say that they will now only do minor deal because they don't want to trade a guy who the new GM (whoever that is and whenever that is - a week away supposedly) might want a guy that they went and moved. I think you can get Thad possibly but that is it.
Jimmy wanted to go to LA as a FA last summer. The Bulls forced him to re-sign. Now he's looking to force a trade.I've heard that they are actually a bit iffy on Butler - they don't like his leadership. Given that the luster has worn off, I wouldn't do anything beyond CJ for Butler (unless is someone like Pat or Tim). I think they'd much rather have CJ's leadership than Butler's FTA. As nice as it'd be to have a wing who gets to the FT line, I'm not even sure I'd trade CJ for Butler straight-up - Butler is two years older, already on a non-rookie contract, and kinda seems like a bit of an ass. The only things he's better at are defense and getting to the line (which, again, would both be nice).
Yeah I hear you, but I think Chandler is still talented. Much more so than hibbert or varejao at this point. And phoenix has a bunch of picksChandler not only signed longer but for more a year though.
Hibbert is expiring. LA doesn't have to trade him of course but they are rumored to want to. We could take him for a pick and he won't affect our cap next year.
I hope Portland gets more than a 2nd rounder out of this. A protected 2018 1st isn't much for saving them $20Million in Luxury Tax charges.
Chandler is no doubt more talented. Is he talented enough in 3 years compared to his contract is the question though.Yeah I hear you, but I think Chandler is still talented. Much more so than hibbert or varejao at this point. And phoenix has a bunch of picks
What about a three-way that sends Love to New Orleans and their 2016 #1 to Portland?

I think we'd need to eat Asik's contract which I'd consider. Cleveland would need more pieces to win now.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jzd7ctj
Blazers get Varejao and Asik, Pels 2016 unprotected pick, Pels 2018 pick
Pels get Kevin Love
Cavs get Ryan Anderson, Meyers Leonard, Gerald Henderson
I'd think about doing that trade. We get a couple insane good lottery picks. Varejao contract is only partially guaranteed for $10 mil next year. Asik is a terrible contract but with the rising cap is only 10% of it going forward. We get picks that could be very high in the lottery.
That is a hell of a lot of contract to eat. Even with the picks, I don't think I do that.I think we'd need to eat Asik's contract which I'd consider. Cleveland would need more pieces to win now.
