As usual, I'm quite sure Gorton will see many teams out there offering up crap players who have barely won any playoff games and getting first round picks while the Rangers get offered 3rd rounders for superior players. That seems to be the small market, anti-NY crap that other GM's give this organization.

I would be extremely disappointed if McDonagh isn't dealt for at least a 1st, 2nd and NHL ready, top 4 defenseman prospect.

Read there was 25 scouts at the last Rangers game. I'm quite sure they weren't impressed.

At least Nash scored I guess. Hopefully nothing Ranger-like happens to any of them before the DL.

In fact I wouldn't put it past these fat cats to be told there were all those scouts there and then play like crap on purpose so they don't get any good offers for them.

I don't see a deal with Nashville. Other than their top 2 prospect, their farm sucks.

ugh be ready to get disappointed then. if a team has a nhl ready TOP 4!!!!!!!!!!!! d man why would they trade him for 1 1/2 years of a 28 year old MCD with a ton of miles on that body? o not to mention a 1st and 2nd along with it!

Pretty simple. At this point McD is a better player than that prospect and the team is in a win-now mode. Therefore, they will sacrifice their future if it means getting an established NHL veteran who can help them win now

i get that theory but you need those "cheap" entry level type contracts to keep your core older players under the cap and i get MCD is on a great cap but lets face it its a year and half as opposed to 3-4 years on an entry level/bridge deal. esp if the prospect is a good/legit top 4 d man? players like that are hard to come by and will prove way more valuable down the road to teams with cap issues.

annnnd keep in mind tampa are favorites to win the cup as it stands now. steve y is very smart i dont see him (and i hope he doens't) mortgage his future to get mcd

I amused myself and went to the Devils board for kicks where loser Cup was begging for Devils fans to join him there. It was pathetic.

O no stop your hurting my feelings! pretty soon this board will be a ghost town too its already going that way

I wouldn't say Gilmour and Pionk are AHL defenseman. They might well turn into good pro's. Stralman reminds me a little of Pionk before he figured it out. He freakin sucked earlier in his career. However, all these young players need a different coach an a new system.

Not sure any one player should be singled out. List the players who have played to their expected level or a touch above, let alone truly exceeded their expected level? Pretty much every regular player on the team has underperformed (outside of maybe Grabner I'd say).

Ziban has 8 even strength goals all season. The dmen have pretty much all been a mess. Zucc has 10 goals. List goes on and on.

At best maybe a couple of guys have been in the ball park of what we'd expect, which is not nearly good enough. True definition of a bad team. A throw away season. Make some forward looking moves over the next week, and let's look for a big turnaround next season. As it stands right now we should end up the 7th or so worst team in the NHL, so we'll get a good pick which could be a great pick with lottery luck.

Not really sure why you are this bothered strud. The team is done. A bunch of guys won't be on the team 8 days from now. The leadership sent up the white flag last week. Let them lose and get better lotto odds. Not sure why you appear to be very bothered by today. Were you expecting something different given the results we have been seeing.

At this point I would be focused on the trade DL, the draft and our upcoming moves this summer. Then taking hopefully two steps forward next season. Not too concerned about how they play the remaining 22 games (other then seeing more kids got an opportunity after the trade DL).

They’ve gotta dump AV as soon as possible. He is ruining young guys now with his incompetent coaching philosophy. I’ve been saying for a long time now that AV only won with Torts’ guys using a system that combined Torts’ philosophy with a good mixture of his own philosophy. Ever since AV has tried to make this his team it’s gotten worse and worse. He is to the Rangers what Gruden was to the Bucs (except Gruden actually won a championship). He was the offensive mind we needed after a defensive coach, but couldn’t keep it up and adapt as the league caught up and figured him out. Sadly, he will probably finish out this year and somehow even more than likely coach again somewhere else because the NHL loves the retreads.

He will be gone after the season. That is another thing I personally wouldn't get too worked up over. The odds of him being the coach next season are very small. If Gorton does keep him though then I will be fired up over it, but I expect him to be gone once the season ends. Over the last 22 games not much will really be gained anyway. Whether it is AV or say they fire him and make Ruff the interim coach, it really won't make a big difference. So as long as he is fired after the season I am not going to get too worked up over it.

Just bothered by the fact that they stopped playing after 2 periods. Like AV is telling them to lose these games. Whoever they pick please let it be a skilled North American player and not another European player

Truthfully, if they are trying to lose games (which I do not think they are) I would be fine with it. Why not lose and lose and lose now to get a better chance at moving up in the draft. Odds are the "best" they can do is get up to the 7th worst team in the NHL, the 6th worst team has 7 less points than the Rangers, but let's lose and get up to the 7th worst team and hope to get some lottery luck. That's my take.

I'd give Georgiev a few starts and see what he looks like, plus HL could use 4-5 days off. All the better right now if they move closer to a sure top 5-6 pick. I hope Gorton dosen't waste this opportunity to really help with moving these people. I don't see them dealing RMc right now but Zuccarello should as he's not really effective here anymore. Maybe Desh and Holden can get us a few mid-picks.

I think it is pretty much a lock that Nash, Grabner, Holden and Desh are gone in the next 8 days. The questions are Zucc and McDonagh, and to me if I can get a real good return for Zucc and a great return for McD, I deal them. If the returns now are just okay I hold those two guys and deal them at the draft.

Sounds like Florida is driving up the McDonagh bidding. I think 2 1st's and a top prospect plus maybe a roster player is fair for him.
