Fuck.I have to post my updated version of what I would do....
1) 3 Team Trade
Portland Trades
LMA
Claver (1yr @ $1.5M)
2015 1st
Portland Gets
Jarrett Jack (2yr @ $6.3M each) – aka “bad contract”
’14 #3 Overall
’14 #10 Overall
Cleveland Trades
’14 #1 Overall
Jarrett Jack (2yr @ $6.3M each)
Anthony Bennett (3yr @ $5.5M) (or Tristian Thompson (1yr @ $5.1M) – depending upon whom they want to keep more)
Cleveland Gets
LMA
2015 1st from Portland
Philly Trades
’14 #3 Overall
’14 #10 Overall

Wright (1yr @ $3M)
Freeland (1ry @ $3M)

Gerald Wallace (2yr @ $10.1M each) – aka “bad contract”
3) Portland Drafts
#3 – Dante Exum (SG/PG)
#5 – Noah Vonleh (PF/C)
4) Portland Signs
Gooden to MLE (3yrs)
Okafor to BAE
Roster Heading into season
PG – Lillard, Jack,
SG – Wes, Exum, Barton, Crabbe,
SF – Batum, Wallace, _____
PF – Gooden, T-Rob, Vonleh,
C – Lopez, Okafor, Leonard
(Lost : Mo, Watson, McCullum, Wright, LMA, Claver, Freeland)
Fuck.
Ing.
Wow.
so we lose all that and get Exum and Vonleh? This will be bad for you, so prepare
It's an interesting take, but I worry about not having an anchor on offense. Gooden's... good, but I feel like there will be a ton of pressure on Dame for about two years with that scenario.
Gooden played in 16 games during the 2012-13 season, and 22 games last season, and started none of those games.
Yet now he's going to start at PF for the Blazers? I'm assuming Olshey wants to keep his job, right?
So combative lately

And yet he backed it up with stats. Seriously, Gooden as our starting PF puts Dame under enormous pressure. The offense dies without a major rework.

Would you be comfortable having a guy who has played 38 games the last two seasons, with none as a starter, replacing LMA in the line-up? I know you're trying to bait me, because it's what you do, but let's keep it to basketball.
Yes or no. Answer the question.
I agree with you. Just my opinion on your posts. I'm off some of the meds making me so angry, so I notice it more now when others are
At the least, if a gun was to our heads and we had to make that deal, we could at least sign Greg Monroe
I'm not angry, I just a very low tolerance for dumb ideas.
So why are you reading a thread called "You be the GM"?! There aren't two good ideas to rub together here!![]()
I'm in favor of any trade that involves shipping LaMarcus out. We don't need his mid range jump shots. He shoots under 40% of them....worst shot in basketball.
Everyone on this forum is well aware youd trade LMA for a bag of chips. He shoots well over 40% from that shot you hate.

Contrast LA's shooting that to a true star, Dirk Nowitski, the guy Stotts wants LA to be. He's much higher in every catagory.
Dirk/LA
0-3
.778/.675
3-10
.578/.364
10-16
.485/.388
16-3pt
.518/.44
This doesn't even touch the fact that Dirk is a good 3pt shooter and LA doesn't shoot 3s at all. Why do LaMarcus lovers ignore these terrible numbers? Just look at his pathetic numbers 3-10, what kind of PF shoots 36% from that range?
its funny I think the same thing about LeMarcus haters. I still don't think the open 18f is a bad shot because it spreads the floor and in the NBA today an open shot is a good shot. but of course if you compare him to the greatest shooting big man ever he isn't going to be as good because DIRK IS THE GREATEST SHOOTING BIGMAN EVER!
If you want to look at career avgs
Dirk/LA
0-3
.641/.694
3-10
.413/.438
10-16
.472/.412
16+
.477/.421
So whats that show? LA has over his career been better from close then Dirk and dirk is better from farther away and that wouldn't' shock anyone because Dirk is again, the greatest shooting big man ever. Now lets take LA's career avgs and put them up against the league avg of last year.
League/LA
0-3
.635/.694
3-10
.392/.438
10-16
.401/.412
16+
.395/.421
Looks like LA smokes the league avg in every category.
If you want to call LaMarcus a star, he should live up to it.
I know LaMarcus can be better. What happened to the 2011-2013 version, where he played like a real PF?
His FG% from 3-10 was 52.3% that year and he took 46% of his shots inside of 10 feet, as opposed to 38% this year...
Why did his FG% from that range fall so much? I think it's because he does those fade aways instead of going toward the hoop.
I think it's the offense. IOW, I think he is doing what his coach wants.I know LaMarcus can be better. What happened to the 2011-2013 version, where he played like a real PF?

PG - I would throw our mini-MLE at a point guard. Possibly Mario Chalmers or Shaun Livingston.
How about trying to sign Greivis Vasquez? Selfless player. Led the league in total assists in 2012-2013...not rondo, not cp3, not any of the all-star pgs...Greivis Vasquez. He would also cost less than Livingston I'm imaging. 6'6 and would be a great playermaker off the bench.
I'd also like to sign a vet big man. Like Elton Brand. Or Jermaine O'neal. Or even trade Freeland and Wright with future 2nd round picks to OKC for Nick Collison. Let's say we traded for Collison.
Idk if any of you guys like Ben Mclemore but I've been real high on Mclemore since last year's draft. Still think he can be a great player. 6'5 really athletic and will be one of the best shooters in the future. How about trade Matthews Mccollum for Mclemore and the Kings 1st rounder. Other pieces would need to be added for salaries to match. I like Mccollum but he is 6'3. With Matthews expiring, a backcourt of Lillard/Mccollum would be pretty bad on defense. I think a Lillard/Mclemore backcourt will challenge Curry/Thompson and Wall/Beal as one of the best youngbackcourts.
Then we could trade the Kings pick or draft. I think I'd just trade the pick for established players unless we could trade up into the top 4. But I'd be interested in trading the 8th to Orlando for Afflalo and other pieces.
Then try signing Marion as a backup sf.
So our roster would be...
Lillard/Vasquez
Afflalo-Mclemore/Barton (I'd rather have mclemore starting to develop chemistry with Lillard)
Batum/Marion/Claver (Claver can play stretch 4 in small lineups)
LA/T-Rob
Lopez/Collison/Leonard (Collison can also play 4 if LA or T-Rob is in foul trouble)
A bench of Vasquez/Afflalo or Mclemore/Marion/T-Rob/Collison would be a solid 2nd unit and a real big upgrade.
Just something I thought of not to long ago and havent given much thought to so idk if salaries and stuff would work. What would you guys think?
How will you pitch this to Chalmers?
"Sure, you start for the 2013 champs. But we in Portland won't treat you like ANY old bench trash. You'll be sitting between Will Barton and Alan Crabbe."
