So I know we have no picks in either round, and can't trade 2015 picks either, but what about $?

On contract for next year, we have:

LA- 15 mil (expiring)
Nic- 11 mil (2 yrs remaining)
Wes- 7 mil (expiring)
Rolo- 5 mil (team option/ expiring)
TRob- 4 mil
Dame- 3 mil
Joel- 3 mil (expiring)
DWright- 3 mil (expiring)
CJ- 2mil
Leonard- 2 mil
Vic- 1 mil (QO in 2015)
Crabbe- 800K
Will- 800K

So Mo opting out, leave us with a payroll of ~56 mil, and approx 7 mil under the cap. So we lose our exceptions, etc, and we're still left with some solid cap space.

What do we do with 7 mil?

?? Can't we trade picks after the draft if we wanted to?

Man, I really get the feeling Wes is about to get paid, and I don't think he's worth the money he's going to get. If we can keep him around 7.5 though, that would be workable. It's scary because LA is going to sign a max extension, Dame is going to get a big deal, Rolo is due for a salary bump, and then there's Wes. I get the feeling someone will have to go.

I know a lot of you guys don't like him, but Nick Young could score a lot of points off of the bench too.

I'm not the best with the NBA cap but isn't it possible to resign everyone and go over the cap if they've been on the team for 3 + years? isn't that called bird rights?
So if the cap is 20$ and you're @ 19$. Your able to go into luxury tax and pay a penalty. I know there's a hard cap. But it's hard to imagine not being able to resign everyone if wanted to.
I mean OKC has 4 players with big contracts, If they wanted to they could have signed Harden to a big one also. But they lowballed and traded him.

I mean the nets are what. 80+mil over the cap? due to the luxury tax? I know that was done on trades but I believe players that have been with a team for 3+ years allow teams to resign over the cap.

I believe in early July we can trade our 2015 1sr rdr as this current year is over

If so, that does change things slightly. But our closets are still pretty damn bare. We really don't have much to work with

I'm not even fully sure how the new CBA works, but it seems like having a ton of huge contracts doesn't work anymore.

I've seen people on other boards bring up Marvin Williams, but he seems like a crappy tweener so who knows.

I believe we can use our cap space then still get a small exception. They added that saying teams over the cap had an advantage by being able to use an exception, while teams under the cap were stuck at the cap.

Well, I think I've said it in other threads, but I really like Paul Pierce and Pau Gasol. I don't know what kind of deals they're going to get, but they would be amazing off our bench.

Just double checked if we are under the cap we get to use our cap space plus a "room exception" which is 2.7 mil this summer.

yeah, but don't we have to renounce some people to get under the cap?

So 7mil + another 2.7?

We have to be smart with spending our $ this year with all those upcoming extensions.

Mo is our only FA this summer. And I think since he was only here one season there are no rights to renounce.

Someone made a post a while back explaining some scenarios. Rolo and Will are team options, so technically we could renounce them, but I don't see that happening.

Is eric bledsoe an option? My guess is he ends up with the lakers for > 10mil per but he and Neil are supposedly very close

He's an RFA though. I don't see Phoenix letting him walk for nothing. Plus, even if we did sign him, where do you play him?

starting sg or backup guard who plays 30 m p g. He can guard PGs and there are really no big sgs that post up defenders anymore.

why Hinrich? guy can't shoot and he's just not good at all anymore

Hinrich has always been a better player playing off someone.
Right now he's basically the 2nd best offensive player on that team.
Hinrich can lead a team, can still spot up and shoot. But with the way the bulls play his 3's come late in the shot and are 99.99% of the time desperation "hit the rim" type of 3's.
If he could play off of a star, he'd still be a good role player. But playing off of Carlos Boozer... won't cut it..
And hes just not the kind of player that gets his own shot.

You can do a lot worse then Hinrich as a backup PG. Certainly shouldn't be starting (like he was forced into) but he is above average off the bench.

I wonder if we could work out a deal with Houston. I know they want to go after Melo. I would love to take Beverley off their hands. I think Melo would like to play with Lin again.

He ought to be the #1 target this summer.

Isaiah Thomas would be mine but he's not as attainable as Bradley.
