Traded for a second round and conditional pick stop trading our fucking picks you dumb fuck

I guess they signed Domingue for Hartford as the new Kinkaid. Good they moved Nemeth, that was a wasted signing from the beginning pretty much though he did alright at times.

Big fan Trochek. Not just because he seemed to score against the Rangers every time he played them. He is a savvy offensive player, plays solid D, not a big edge to his game but he is not going let opponents walk all over them. 7 years is 2 years too long though for a 29 yr old. At least they are doing something.

Just catching up after being away for a few days. Surprised by Trocheck as i was not tracking that one, and 7 years is a lot but if there is no NMC/NTC then the length does not matter as much. It's the NMC/NTC that really kill you.

Glad to see Nemeth gone, but giving up 2 potential 2nd rounders is a big price to pay to clear $2.5M of cap space. Let's hope Emberson becomes serviceable.

Yes I agree , we have a good faceoff center that can score , pass , forecheck and play defense .. did somebody mention that he got Selke votes??

toigh parting with a 2nd to get rid of Nemeth but this might be setting up another move. The team’s window is open a lot sooner so I’m ok with it. I want to see a cup not a 2nd round draft pick so fuck it.

Not for nothing but why didn’t we just sign Domingue to back up Igor? He’s good enough to be a back up. They could have signed another cheap AHL/NHL guy to play in Hartford

Hah, well he finished tied for 24th in voting. But the point still stands! Strome probably got negative Selke votes.

I'd like to bring Motte back. And still hoping no NT or NM clauses for Trocheck.

Oh boy..just read this off espn...
"Strome is a better finisher than Trocheck, but Trocheck brings a bigger bag of tools to the mix."

I have no idea why we signed him to a seven-year contract unless they figure he’ll eventually be a fourth line center when he’s old who could win draws. They couldn’t get him for five years?

Copp was a good faceoff guy in the west which sucks compared to the east in faceoffs but for the Rangers he was below average where Trocheck is a proven ace in the east

I am not going to rip the Trocheck signing apart, he is a good player, who likes to shoot and wins FO's, but 7 year deals for 29 year old players is an old school undisciplined desperate Rangers signing. That deal will not age well, and it could start in 2 years when he is 31. Not a good long term deal at all. Give me Copp for 5 years over this deal. And while he is a better, way more multi-dimensional player than Strome, let me see what he signs for as well.

I don't think Trocheck puts us over the top, we aren't as good today as yesterday, and unless he puts us over the top in the next 2 or 3 seasons, it was a bad deal.

Plus is Kakko, Lafreniere, Miller all will get better, especially the last two, and should play big roles next season. So maybe their growth, along with Chytil's, combined with Kravtsov, and Trocheck is better than Strome, will make us a better team next season. We'll see.

I would like to see Motte back as I have mentioned. You have a bottom 6 with Blais, Chytil, Kravtsov, Motte, Goodrow, Reaves, maybe a kid in the mix, and you have a really deep lineup - really deep. Add in Robertson or Jones on the 3rd pair with Schneider and you have a deep team for sure.

There are 3 teams that amaze me how they still have cap space to sign players - the Pens, Canes, and most of all TB.

The Pens and TB show over the cap right now, TB by a lot, so I wonder what scam they are getting ready to use for next season to get back under the cap. Sure it is something. They re-signed a few guys, but also lost Palat. I don't know how they make the cap work next season.

Isn’t mysterious how the pens have managed to keep both Crosby and Malkin all these years.

And Letang.

So here is the final tally - Copp 5 years $5,625M AAV, Strome 5 years $5M AAV, Trocheck 7 years $5,625M AAV

I would put the Copp deal clearly # 1. Strome and Trocheck are close, and for the sake of something new maybe Trocheck gets a slight edge, but being real Strome for 2 less years, and a smaller AVV is the better deal, and I hate Strome.

This is a L by Drury, and looks desperate. If he were the final piece, maybe, but he is not. And the other guys we let walk have better team deals - no way Trocheck vs. Copp and Strome is such a gap that he needs two extra years on his deal at 29. And just wait until we see the NTC or NMC in the Trocheck deal. I don't like it.

Rangers would have probably had to pay Strome a little more because of the city tax on income?? … idk how taxes work but hard to imagine they wouldn’t have signed him 5 x 5. Drury must think Trochek is the better player for the team. He’s been right on almost everything so far so we’ll see how it pans out. I though this team was trying to get bigger down the middle … !? The market was scare on FA and Trade fronts

I liked Copp as a winger. Too soft to be a 2nd like center. Trochek isn’t Mike Tyson but his defensive play and face offs are very good. Strome sucked defensively in the playoffs

GG coached Trochek in FLA so he knows what he's getting and I swear Vinnie was a part of every other scoring chance in the Canes series. With the limited cap space I think Drury got the best player to address the #1 concern of Rangers fans. Statistically Trochek has the best numbers among the 3 offensively, defensively and most importantly on face offs. The window of opportunity is open now so I'm not going to sweat losing draft picks or possible cap wrangling issues 5 years down the road to win now. This is what Rangers fans have been waiting for.

That's the key question Panzer, is he the best of the 3? He got paid like it, most overall money and most years by 2. The UFA rankings didn't have him as the best, the numbers are all pretty close, and even if someone may prefer Trocheck the best, is he most overall money and 2 extra years the best as the oldest of the trio? Not sure quite honestly,

To me all 3 are in the same ballpark give or take, and we paid clearly the most for the oldest guy. Seems like a flashback to the Rangers of the past.

The one thing he does have is the FO's, which is obviously a huge need for us, but we'll see if it was the best move as we move forward and see where it goes.

Also take a look at what Carolina did. They added Burns and Pacioretty to an already very talented team. And it is hard to say we really improved from last season. At best maybe neutral if Lafreniere, Miller, other kids take good jumps forward as one would hope.

That's the thing, on paper we are not a SC winning team unless the kids really jump up, and with that adding Trocheck in place of Strome and Copp doesn't really get me overly excited, or move the needle much IMO.

Again we'll see though.

I seriously don't know what the fuck Drury is doing with Jones and Lundkvist. He's pissing away draft picks left and right and is keeping 2 guys that won't ever play here instead of getting picks and players back.

Devils need defenseman and goalies. Of course the Rangers gave Trochek 3 years of a NMC and then limited no trade clause. They never fucking learn.

Overall Copp, Trocheck, Strome are all in the same ballpark. I would say Trocheck may be # 1, could be Copp, but it is close. None of them are on a different level from the other, yet we paid the oldest the most money for the most years (by 2). That is interesting to me. All I am saying. And like I said, I knew there would be a NMC/NTC for Trocheck as well. Don't love it, but is what it is now.

Also, sounds like no Motte - and we signed Ryan Carpenter to be our 4th line C. Bottom 6 pretty much done now I'd say. Overall we are pretty much done also. Jones/Robertson/Lundkvist/Hajek compete for 6th dman.
