Paccioretti blew out his achilles. That sucks for him but bigger loss for the Canes. At his age it's going to be tough to come back from that injury.

Kakko if healthy will be taking a big step forward this year and at any rate because of salary cap considerations alone isn't going anywhere in a trade. if something done with Kane later on a decent size salary would need to be going back the other way.

I agree with you Mel, most of the young team should take a step forward but Kakko needs to start creating scoring chances or he will continue to get the less than 15 min/game he deserves. I think the postseason run provided these guys with an idea of how different the NHL is from wherever they previously dominated.

Agreed Panze. Just wonder what happened to the kakko we saw as a teenager in the worlds playing against the nhlers and more than holding his own. Need to see that kakko again!

These are good times to be a Rangers fan. Extended playoff run with a group of raw young talent including a goalie who is elite, 7 prospects at the World Jrs and finally great special teams. I think it's just youth with Kappo he learned an expensive lesson at contract time. It's nice to go into a season with the question marks involving bottom line players and the #6/7 dman

Nothing happened to him it’s called the Rangers are fucking him up because they’re stupid. In the wjc’s he was playing about 20 minutes a game and almost entire power-play it’s not rocket science people

Amazing how it hasn't impacted Lafreniere, who looks much better than Kakko thus far. Kakko needs to man up, and stay healthy. He owns that, not the two coaches or two GM's he has played for.

For the first year or two Kakko looked a bit nervous and overhandled the puck way too much, whether he was playing 13 min or 18 min. He seems to be finally loosening up and seeing the ice more broadly. His board work is excellent. Part of it was the transition from Finland and not speaking much English.

Meanwhile Othman and Cuylle are killing it at Juniors despite the Rangers organization's awful mishandling of youth. Kappo has a great opportunity to play in the NHL against the world's best and making a ton of money but nothing is guaranteed. Being a top draft pick obviously brings high expectations from fans. I'm sure the Canes expected more from Gauthier when they used a #1 on him now he's here with the Rangers fighting for a bottom line spot years later.

Don’t know why people in our fan base can’t grasp the fact at the Rangers have been atrocious developing Kakko and Lafreniere. Yet, they still seem to slowly be overcoming the organization’s incompetent stupidity.

Awful developing Lafreniere. That is why he has led the team in even strength goals the past two seasons. Also why pretty much all of us see him taking a huge step this upcoming season, as he looked like a potential stud as the season went on last year. AWFUL!!!

As I continue saying, putting Lafreniere and Kakko in the same position is lazy and crazy. You can see a huge difference between the two on the ice in terms of level and impact, and Lafreniere is a year behind and still that is the case.

But yes, let's blame two coaches and two GM's for Kakko. That seems very reasonable. After all he didn't play 4 mpg more, or play on PP1.

And BTW - last I checked, at 21 neither is close to done developing as others have said.

Al, I know he's ignoring you but those pictures are missing dump's favorite prop the horsewhip.

Ahhh! I remember the old "x needs to be horsewhipped" line...he went to that well a ton.

Either way he's had plenty of ice time over 3y when not injured, so it's put up or end up on the trade block time for KK. I think he gets dealt at some point anyway.

It's comical at this point that we have fans so dumb in our fanbase that they expect Kakko and Lafreniere to be the players they were in juniors or the WJC's. We've told you a thousand times. Those guys were getting 18 to 20 minutes off icetime a night and were practically playing the entire PP. Then they go from that to being used like role players by this dumb fuck organization and barely getting any PP time. Only the retard Rangers do shit like this. Thus why they have one cup in over 80 years.

So Strome they used on the PP all year over those two guys they let go for nothing. Which further shows you how fucking stupid it was to play him on the PP over two guys who you should be trying to develop into cornerstone pieces. Then playing Panarin there all year who clearly has shown he doesn't have a clue how to be the player in the playoffs that he is in the regular season. It's just two more examples of an inept organization sucking off vet forwards and who aren't committed to developing young forwards. I would not put it past Gallant to put Trochek on th first PP unit. If I was the GM and saw that, I would tell him you got 2 choices. Either stop it or I'm firing you.

I wouldn't be shocked if Kravtsov ends up higher on the depth chart than Kakko at some point during the year.

What's comical is you continuing to mention Lafreniere. No one else mentions him because he has played well, and you see what he will be, despite being held back by two coaches and two GM's like you claim him and Kakko have been.

Time for KK to man up.

Another expression he loves to use....and I mean LOVES is "...sucking off vets"....its like its his security blanket. Dude loves talking about guys getting sucked off.
To say that young players that the Rangers spent high draft capital on should get premium ice time and 1st PP minutes JUST BECAUSE is the height of entitlement culture in hockey. It's pretty clear that in this sport you have to earn your ice time no matter who you are.
Again, I think the Rangers have been in a tough spot that they put themselves into but the book is not closed on Kakko yet. He has played two shortened seasons and an injury riddled third season. He will get his opportunities and if he steps up that will be great for the team and for him (financially) as he is on a very club friendly 2-yr deal right now.

There is no relevance. They're in Juniors, not NY.

Last year, the #1 pick on his second season in the league, averaged as many minutes (13:59) as Kevin Rooney (13:51). Let that one sink in.

That is beyond pathetic 31. That's the incompetent stupidity that is a huge part in why this organization has 1 cup in over 80 years. It's almost hard to believe they are that fucking stupid and that is saying something if you are a long time Rangers fan.

its too bad 31 and drumpy can't root for a more successful organization that aligns more with their priorities.

That was in reference to dump referencing Kakko's junior hockey dominance but I wouldn'texpect that to sink in to a daddyballer like you 31

Unbelievable that McTavish kept that puck out. Canada’s defense was average at best.

Lundkvist has requested a trade. Hopefully they can get at least a high 2nd or solid prospect. I thought he might be used in a deadline deal next spring.

This stuff frustrates me as we simply are not making full use of our assets. In general, not just about Lundkvist, how many times have we said we cannot play or pay all these kids. Need to smartly deal some for upgrades on the roster. Instead we don't do that, hoard these kids, don't play them, or play them in reduced roles, they struggle, it hurts their value, then they leave.

Poor asset management is a big issue with this team.

They need to keep him until they can use him in a trade. He hasn't exactly torn it up in Hartford either.
