No thanks.

Considering he was a true "trailblazer" in the world of GM's and we haven't fielded a competitive team since Allen canned him, I can't think of anyone more qualified to undo the damage Allen has done since then.

Why not?

Those 12 guys would crush our current team like a bug.

You left out a dozen or so other players he brought us (Sabas for instance), but 7 or 8 of the 12 you mentioned played great basketball for us. Since you cut that list from Wiki I assume you're referring to their off-court issues more than their talent.

Exactly my thoughts. Bob is the only GM since 1992 that has gotten a Blazer team out of the first round.

Twice in NINE years. I sure would have liked to see what Pritchard could have done with another six years at the helm.

There seems to be a myth around here that those Whitsitt era teams always won 50+ games and went deep in the play-offs. They won 50 games three times (would have been four if not for the lock out season). and more than 50 only once. The Geoff Petrie teams were MUCH more successful, both regular and post season, than Trader Bob's. Under Pritchard, the Blazers won 50 twice in 3 years.

Whisitt's biggest problen is he didn't know when to stop meddling and let the team gel. He built a team capable of winning a championship. It had the perfect blend of veterans and youth, clear starters and role players, but after the 4th quarter meltdown against the Lakers, he blew that team up, traded away youth for over-paid, over-the-hill veterans with a sense of entitlement.

We suddenly went for a deep, balanced roster to a roster full of guys 12 guys who all thought they should be starters. This resulted in playing time issues and dissent within the ranks. No shit, he wasn't a chemistry major. He built a great tem and then destroyed it before it had a chance to reach it's potential.
